I don't really follow much baseball so didn't realise Gallen was only acquired last year. I'll hold onto him for reason. Cheers!

Young controllable starting pitching is the most valuable commodity in MLB. The bottom line is it’s a video game and you want to have fun. If the CPU accepts your offer go for it.

Absolutely true, but not exactly the point of this thread...

The thread is here to create discussions around possible trades based on a calculated player value, to try to keep some semblance of realism throughout the users franchise mode, for those of us that don't want to "cheese" the CPU and the horrible trade engine in the game.

Nobody here is going to come to your home and reverse a trade. If someone asks for advice, people will gladly give it. It's up to you whether you take it or not.

      Cheers!

You just described exactly what happened lol. I'm not sure why you felt the need to post this...

Because every once in a while someone will come on this thread to brag about how they ripped off the CPU or ask about the validity of a trade looking for confirmation only to be told the trade just isn't reasonable.

The point of this particular thread has been the same for damn near 10 years at this point. We help people who care about fairness and realism find trades which could happen.

            That hasn't happened though.

I posted a handful of trades that the CPU would accept. Two posters advised me about how realistic/unrealistic they would be. I decided against all of them based on their advice.

            I don't understand the issue.

Nobody is attacking you. It was simply a reminder to anyone viewing the thread. What I explained has in fact happened multiple times across the nearly 90 pages of posts.

Oh I have no doubt that it has. I've seen it once or twice myself and I don't even spend that much time here!

I didn't think I was being attacked. It seemed more like an attack on the other poster, which I found strange as he and another had each provided some useful advice.

No worries though! Time to move on!

Not sure it’s possible but was wondering if the Phillies would be able to get Keaton Hiura? Wouldn’t Give up Bohm or Howard but all other prospects available. Would only give up Kingery if I had to.

                  Thanks

Re: Official MLB 20 the Show Trade Discussion Thread

Need some help here to determine the value of one of my players mid season, at the beginning of July. I used the trade value calculator and I don’t think it’s suited to fit this specific scenario!

The player in question is CF Ender Inciarte. I’ve played through a full year and a half in my franchise, mainly using Ender as depth/a pinch hitter.

In my save, Inciarte is an 84 OVR, who is getting a lot of that from great fielding attributes.

Here’s a small snapshot of ender’s past few years:

Last year in 2020, Ender totaled around 200 ABs and hit a very respectable .276 while being a defensive sub late in games. This year, he’s off to an even better start sitting at a .344 AVG, and a career high OPS (granted he’s right around 100 ABs).

This is also the last year of Ender’s contract @ $6m/year. He will be a FA next year.

Ender will be a rental for whatever team decides to make a deal for him. But I looked around the league and surprisingly 4-5 teams who are either leading or a couple game behind in the standings are in need of a 3rd outfielder.

I would continue to use Inciarte as my #1 sub, but feel as if his value is as high as it will get for now.

How much do you think a contending team would give up that would be fair? Are there any real life examples in recent memory?

Remember, since I’m a year ahead, prospects names aren’t needed. Instead I’m looking for just an overall and potential range. Like “60-65” C potential “50-60” B potential etc.

                      Thanks!

Considering this years trade deadline, if you're trading a 4th OF, you're likely looking at a PTBNL/Low C guy. If you're competitive, you're better off keeping him.

I figured this to be the case. I went back and looked at the past few trade deadlines for similar deals and any time an OF like this was traded, it likely resulted in a PTBNL/Low Tier prospect.

Thanks for the insight! I’ll most likely hand on to him until the offseason.

Player to be named later. Basically it’s just a placeholder until both teams can agree upon a player. It’s especially used at the deadline so teams can hurry and finalize a deal before the deadline strikes without having to have every detail perfect.

MOST of the time PTBNL’s end up being small/lower tier prospects who don’t pan out. But some other familiar players who were originally players to be named later in trades were:
                              David Ortiz
                              Michael Brantley
