I can certainly understand some of the gripe regarding a lackluster stream. There are many “little things” that have been pointed out in the next-gen captures of the trailers by many members here in OS - why not take 5-10 minutes of the stream and show them off? It feels to me that it was an opportunity lost. This could have easily been the most detailed stream, imo.
As a game developer, wouldn’t a new platform be the perfect opportunity to showcase the skill of your team? Give your artists the spotlight and let their work shine. Stadium creator was a large undertaking, yes. But that is only part of the equation in terms of next gen. There was assumingely a good amount of work done to make the game “next-gen” that wasn’t given the love and attention in the stream that it perhaps deserved. Why not give some love to the texture artists? What changes were made to the MLB stadiums that makes them “more detailed” than what’s gone before? What about the new rain effects I saw on a previous stream? Infield dirt markings? What about audio/crowd? Birds in the sky? There are plenty of things to have been discussed. For those developers whos work was skipped over, I can’t help but feel a bit bad for them — especially since the presentation cut to a topic that wasn’t supposed to be touched on (that has an entire future stream dedicated to it already).
It’s just a personal feeling, but this could have been presented with a much clearer priority list. Maybe some feel the same, maybe some don’t (and that’s okay!). We all love this game, and because of that we all get a little passionate about it.
