Re: MLB The Show Trade Discussion Thread

I saw a trade proposed on baseball trade values that made me think. I do a 30 team control franchise and the Diamondbacks have absolutely collapsed and the future isn’t bright with San Diego, Los Angeles, and San Francisco all being good.

Would the proposed trade on the website seem fair in the show should Arizona blow it up?

Zac Gallen + Asdrubal Cabrera + Taylor Widener

    For

Alek Manoah + Orelvis Martinez + Santiago Espinal

I don't understand this trade at all for the Dbacks. I am not entirely sure the Manoah/Martinez/Espinal package even is enough to acquire Gallen alone. Then you add in Cabrera and Widener?

For Gallen the Blue Jays would need to start with one of Pearson, Martin or Moreno as the headliner and then also include another prospect around the 8-12 range of the Blue Jays prospect list.

Gallen is a very valuable pitcher.

So as the Red Sox, I'm potentially in the market for a closer, not that there's been any issues yet.

Here a few of the arms I'd be interested in from sellers as of right now, and yes I know in real life some are either injured or not playing with the same results.

        Michael Fulmer (DET) - 10 G, 10.0 IP, 8/8 SV, 0.90 ERA, 7/2 K/BB
        Joe Jimenez (DET) - 10 G, 11.1 IP, 0/1 SV, 2.38 ERA, 8/4 K/BB
        Ken Giles (SEA) - 14 G, 14.2 IP, 12/13 SV, 1.23 ERA, 15/3 K/BB
        Richard Rodriguez (PIT) - 11 G, 8.2 IP, 4/5 SV, 2.08 ERA, 7/1 K/BB
        Joakim Soria (ARI) - 12 G, 13.0 IP, 10/10 SV, 0.69 ERA, 15/2 K/BB
        Scott Oberg (COL) - 13 G, 12.0 IP, 11/11 SV, 3.00 ERA, 11/3 K/BB
        Daniel Bard (COL) - 10 G, 10.2 IP, 4 HLD, 0.84 ERA, 13/2 K/BB
        Reyes Moronta (SF) - 12 G, 11.2 IP, 1/1 SV, 5 HLD, 0.77 ERA, 21/5 K/BB

Now I'm not sure what each of them would cost, obviously some will be more than others, but I'm open to most anything.

Agreed. It starts with one of those 3 (I'm assuming they'd ask for Martin first, but then be pushed to Moreno).

          Moreno ($40.9)
          SWR ($24.6)
          Machado ($2.5)
          =$67.9

          For

          Gallen ($63.8)

Kind of a top end of the farm gutting for the Jays, considering Moreno seems to be a better long term option at catcher than Jansen, and SWR seems to have a ton of upside, but Gallen got almost 5 years of control left, and has been really, really solid.

In terms of value, Rodriguez is the most expensive, with Moronta behind him. Given his contract though, a healthy Ken Giles at $3 mil for almost two full seasons *should* be worth a ton, but realistically likely wouldn't be available because he just signed in Seattle this offseason.

A Daniel Bard reunion would be hilariously fun. Bard is worth $1.2 mil in SV, so he'd probably just cost you a couple of lotto tickets.

I would like to trade Carlos Carrasco to the Bluejays. He’s having a really good year but I need to clear some payroll before the deadline.

              Carlos Carrasco - 14 GS 6-3 1.93 ERA 68Ks in 88 Innings.

I was thinking something like Eric Paradinh & Riley Adams for Carlos Carrasco or Otto Lopez & CJ Van Eyk for Carlos Carrasco.

Before I ask I know how ridiculous this might be but...

How feasible and/or realistic would it be to trade Freddie Freeman to the Red Sox? Is that even a possibility as far as what would be needed in return? He's a FA next year and the idea of getting him in Fenway gets me excited lol.

Thanks for any input. And feel free to call me a moron for even suggesting the idea

This depends on a number of things. Firstly, are the Braves in contention? If they are then not a chance, they would just take their run at a Championship and sort him out later. If they aren't then it would be all down to him seeking a return or chasing rings elsewhere (which isnt something you can gauge in game). But let's say if they arent, you'd likely pay the high side of his value which would be in the 40 range on BTV. Meaning something along the lines of

                  2B Jeter Downs (24.7)
                  1B/3B Bobby Dalbec (11.6)
                  LHP Jay Groome (4.3)

I can't help but think the Jays would chase the bigger fish that fit their core's age a bit better rather than paying Carrasco with his injury history (something an Angel's team would be better suited to do if in the chase), but given his performance, you could probably command your first package fairly.

                      Hey finally found this thread.

I'm doing a franchise with the Angels on the show 20, but with updated rosters.

I'm wondering what is a realistic return i could get for Rendon. I'll need a substitute 3b who's good at defense and maybe a starting pitcher.

                      Thanks

Rendon is a very good player, but the Angels signed him to a market rate deal. That means there really is no surplus value. You couldn't trade him for a substitute 3B and a starting pitcher unless you took back some really expensive guys as the return. Maybe you could work something out where you get back a position player who is way underpaid but worse than Rendon and then a marginal pitcher in addition

                          Thanks for the answer!

In the scenario where i take back some expensive guys, what options do i have out there?

On the other scenario what overall would we be talking regarding the position player and pitcher?

I am just spitballing here but if the Tigers are doing alright maybe you could do Rendon for Miguel Cabrera and Spencer Turnbull? You absolutely could not touch Mize/Manning/Skubal though from the Tigers.

Or maybe to the Yankees for Stanton and Jordan Montgomery?

Its kind of hard to find really overpriced guys who make sense.

I tried my best to come up with something off the wall because that's where those big contracts end up coming from. The Giants have put together a terrific set of arms from reclamation projects which boosts their depth, so maybe you could do something alone the lines of Cueto + Longoria+ Lotto Ticket as long as the Giants are performing anywhere close to they are in real life. Rendon could be the big hitter they need to go over the top and he fits their core better than the 2 I mentioned.
