What would be the closest deal the Astros could send to acquire Soto? I don't think they will be able to match what other teams can offer, but I just want to get an idea on what it would take from Houston.

----Ian Happ for Painter and McGarry
----Ian Happ for Mick Abel, Kingery and Moniak?
They get 2 good prospects in the timeline that fits for them. We get rid of Kingery's salary and get Happ to play CF.
----Texas give up Barlow and Adolis Garcia, we move O'Hoppe, Moniak and Rojas
Texas still rebuilding while we get 2 win now players.
----Guardians move Karinchak. We give up O'Hoppe
We get a reliever that we need desperately and Cleveland gets a strong catching prospect.

Also thought Pache from Oakland for McGarry? We don't need more hitters but could use Paches glove roaming CF.

Not sold on the Guardians one unless they moved Naylor

What would you guys pay Matt Duffy? Started the year as a part timer, got more playing time, spent a couple months on the IL, came back as a full time starter. 900 OPS in 74 games…. And World Series MVP as the angels won it all

            Tucker, Pena, Brown and Javier.

Or Tucker, Valdez, Brown and a lotto ticket. Astros don't have much of a farm so it would take young MLB guys

It sounds like you have CPU Roster Control enabled, which you can only change when starting a new franchise.

Re: MLB The Show 22 Trade Discussion Thread

With the talks of Soto on the move heating up, I had to jump into a franchise and see what we could get in return. Its truly a shame there isn’t more trade slots because this is a perfect time of why they’re needed.

As much as I didn’t want to go and move him to the Yankees, ultimately, it made the most sense. Because of budget restraints, I had to make 2 or 3 trades to the Yankees for them to clear space.

But overall, here’s a look at the trades we made in our first year. Just trying to turn over the roster to get younger.

I still would like to dump Strasburgs contract somehow. But I’m not sure if anyone would be willing to take that on at his age. I may try to shop him during the winter meetings or let him play next year and possibly use as a deadline piece.

Anyone else take on a Nationals franchise, just solely to trade Soto? What else did you get back??

I had a trade lined up with the Mariners that I almost took. It was Kyle Lewis, Noelvi Marte and Emerson Hancock for Soto.

*If* I end up making a Soto trade, I'll likely just do it as a 2 part trade so that the propsect/player package going to Washington can be bigger than 3 players, just because I typically try to match up values reasonably closely with baseballtradevalues.com.

Just feels like you're ripping yourself off here a bit though (to the tune of $86.5 mil in surplus value). That being said, you're also getting 3 top 40 (according to mlb.com) prospects, so there's that.

I feel like the Giants are a pretty tough team to pull off a *fair* Soto trade with.

According to baseballtradevalues, trading your top 5 prospects (Luciano+Harrison+Matos+Bednar+Ramos) would still leave you about $40 mil shy when it comes to surplus value.

Adding two of Slater/Yaz/Estrada would get it closer, but I also don't know why the Nats would have a ton of interest in those guys, unless it was a 3 team trade where Yaz/Estrada are flipped to another team? Guess it also depends on how many of those guys are on the 40 man, because taking back 4-5 40 man guys would leave the Nats in a tough spot as well?

All of that being said, sometimes GM's value prospects differently from the rankings, so who knows!

With the real life talks of Soto being traded, I'm wondering if there is any way to get him to Colorado. I am 2nd behind LA but 1st in the wildcard. I saw on baseballtradevalues there is a deal that could work. They have Brendon Rogers, Tovar, Romo and Veen (131.70) going to Wash for Corbin and Soto (121.90). What do you think of this?

I would rather have Strasburg than Corbin but not sure Wash would do that since they wouldn't get very strong prospects back.

Thanks guys. I love this time of year.

Thinking about doing a Pirates Franchise. I'd like to trade for Soto with the storyline of him following in the footsteps of Willie Stargell and Roberto Clemente. Would Pittsburgh have enough to [realistically] offer? I'd prefer not to give up Reynolds, if possible.

                              Thanks in advance.

Tell me what package you think Washington would accept for Soto.

A: Brendon Rogers, E. Tovar, Drew Romo, Zac Veen = 131.70
                                Juan Soto, Corbin = 121.90
B: Brendon Rogers, E Tovar and one of Drew Romo/Zac Veen = 83.90/85.90
                                Juan Soto, Strasburg = 15.90
C: Brendon Rogers, Daza, E Tovar, Drew Romo, Zac Veen = 135.90
                                Juan Soto = 165.60

Padres gave up 143.00 value for Soto and Bell. Think Washington would rather dump salary and still get good prospects back rather than trade Soto by himself?
