Re: MLB The Show 24 Impressions Thread
I haven't seen many, if any at all, remarks about the new Negro League Storylines, so I thought I'd chime in with my two cents about one in particular, Josh Gibson.
I'm a hopeless romantic when it comes to baseball (I can't even begin to count how many times I've watch Ken Burns great Baseball documentary), and the Josh Gibson storyline's literally gave me goosebumps, and I'm not ashamed to admit I was a little misty eyed when I completed it. If you're a baseball romantic/historian, which I know most of you are, do yourself a favor and at least play this storyline. It's worth every pitch.Black & Gold 4ever!Comment

Hair physics are long overdue & definitely add to the immersion.
Could it be a money grab trying to get people to buy the more expensive consoles? Or are the devs just that lame?Comment

Best change in the game I've noticed so far; the Jukebox stays turned off if you close the game and restart.

Re: MLB The Show 24 Impressions Thread
My very early impressions so far. I have to say as someone who LOVED the gameplay in 23 I’m surprisingly a little more mixed than I expected so far, but I’ve also only played a handful of games.
This is all from March to October games. (Playing with yanks on HOF). I also did a couple of DD moments which were fun.
- Hitting variety is even better than last year and immediately noticeable. Lots of down the line shots, liners into gaps, seeing eye singles etc. This aspect of the game is very strong at present
- pitching I’m finding to be WAY more difficult than last year. I use meter pitching and in 23 I sat on Legend all year and thought it was at most mildly challenging (I even upped the sliders for CPU solid hits and such).
On hall of fame this year I’m getting rocked though. AI is laying off everything out of the zone and crushing anything in it. I’ve given up ALOT of homers so far - that seems to be the consensus from a few others I’ve talked too. Very interesting.
- sound of ball off bat sounds great when you’re hitting, but is weirdly muted while you’re pitching. Anyone else not love this? It doesn’t sound as good as last year.
- fielding animations are noticeably improved in infield, but I didn’t notice any difference in the outfield.
- stadiums and lighting look great and pop more, players look largely the same IMO and I’m not thrilled they use their in game face on walk ups as opposed to the real life face.
Minor: Gleyber Torres is wearing number 4 by default for some reason (likely a day 1 glitch), Austin Wells player face looks nothing like him.
That’s all I got for now. Here’s hoping pitching clicks a bit more as I playComment

Early impressions. I love it. This could very well be the best version of the game to date.Comment

Agreed. Pitching sounds are kinds of muffled, I feel. Definitely not the same pop as last year.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 24 Impressions Thread
Just finished my first game (as the Orioles vs the Angels), and 2 things stood out in a big way to me. I was on totally default sliders, hitting on All-Star, Pitching on Legend, using Timing/Classic. At 5 control and 5 consistency, I still allowed 7 walks. I had control at 2 last year. So it definitely feels like command had been reigned in a bit (in a good way).
And the CPU wasn't throwing strikes as much either. CPU averaged 51% of their pitches in the zone to me last year, and this game was 45% (irl average is 42%). So the fact that the CPU isn't living in the zone as much is a big plus too.

Anyone noticed that every single pitch be it ai or user, pitch feedback is very late?

They are definitely on Series S, just not every players hairstyle has is. Seems like they got most of the long hairstyles done, but others like Elly don’t have it.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 24 Impressions Thread
Played a game on Xbox Game Pass via gaming laptop. It streamed well.
Glad I didn’t buy it on PS5
Same game PS4 era graphics
Small gameplay tweaks
Not worth the asking price IMO
