A couple more games played. Still loving it. I have noticed that so far offense seems a little easier this year. I’ve hit a lot of HRs and score a lot of runs in every game so far. But it’s a very small sample size. My offense is also better this year than it has been the last few years so that could be it too. Pitching is much, much better this year. Just my thoughts to this point.

Re: MLB The Show 24 Impressions Thread
one of the 1st things I noticed is they still haven't fixed the issue with the 1st baseman's arm clipping through the base runners body on pick-off attempts smh. I was really hoping this would be fixed by now because it kills immersion.
What I also noticed is that this year the sun-shadows move every pitch thrown and not per at bat like how it used to be. So now after every pitch you see the shade jump to its next place on the field. Not really smooth if you ask me."When it's all set and done, reality is the best innovation."Comment

No one else noticed the bug that every pitch the pitch feedback is always very late release? This is with classic pitching but both user and ai?

Re: MLB The Show 24 Impressions Thread
Played a handful of RTTS as a catcher. Haven't played RTTS in years and first one as a catcher. So far having fun. Wished they gave you the option to redo the combine at least once. LOL I stink it up. But did ok once the games came around.
Moved to Series X this year from Series S in 22. Overall game looks much better. Not a ton of anti-aliasing dots around the players in the batting box. Hair looks nicely done. Haven't played a MLB game yet, waiting on opening day rosters.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 24 Impressions Thread
I play on both an Xbox series X and a switch(I travel a lot, keeps my franchise going)
This years switch version seems much better than in the past. I can’t explain it. But it does. For instance, before I’d change my hitting camera to a zoomed in camera (which I hate) but with this years version I’m able to hit with the same camt(fisheye) I use on the Xbox.
Just a much better transition between the two.

Re: MLB The Show 24 Impressions Thread
My very early impressions so far. I have to say as someone who LOVED the gameplay in 23 I’m surprisingly a little more mixed than I expected so far, but I’ve also only played a handful of games.
This is all from March to October games. (Playing with yanks on HOF). I also did a couple of DD moments which were fun.
- Hitting variety is even better than last year and immediately noticeable. Lots of down the line shots, liners into gaps, seeing eye singles etc. This aspect of the game is very strong at present
- pitching I’m finding to be WAY more difficult than last year. I use meter pitching and in 23 I sat on Legend all year and thought it was at most mildly challenging (I even upped the sliders for CPU solid hits and such).
On hall of fame this year I’m getting rocked though. AI is laying off everything out of the zone and crushing anything in it. I’ve given up ALOT of homers so far - that seems to be the consensus from a few others I’ve talked too. Very interesting.
- sound of ball off bat sounds great when you’re hitting, but is weirdly muted while you’re pitching. Anyone else not love this? It doesn’t sound as good as last year.
- fielding animations are noticeably improved in infield, but I didn’t notice any difference in the outfield.
- stadiums and lighting look great and pop more, players look largely the same IMO and I’m not thrilled they use their in game face on walk ups as opposed to the real life face.
Minor: Gleyber Torres is wearing number 4 by default for some reason (likely a day 1 glitch), Austin Wells player face looks nothing like him.
That’s all I got for now. Here’s hoping pitching clicks a bit more as I play
The presentation of the game is also a really nice upgrade. The scorebugs, graphics, etc are all a noticeable improvement from prior years. I like how they show the closer coming in from the Pen in a more dramatic fashion now for instance.
The "alert" sound at Yankee Stadium with 2 strikes is hilarious, I'm so glad they included it despite how annoying it will be for people.
Truly, after playing about 10 or so games yesterday, my only real complaint is the lack of oomph of the ball coming off the bat while pitching. It's definitely very muted to prior years, likely because the "camera" being further away, but it doesnt sound great compared to last year.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 24 Impressions Thread
I appreciate them doing stadium exteriors but they look soooo dated graphically? like they used stadium creator . Wrigley ? Not good. Also that you don't have top 100 prospect names in the name generator? i think that's not great.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 24 Impressions Thread
At it again this morning. May have to bump hitting difficulty up a notch. Offense has been sort of effortless for me so far. Lots of home runs and lots of high scoring on the offense for me this year so far. I’ve lead off 4 games with a HR and my lead off hitter isn’t a HR by any stretch of the imagination. Seems like the ball comes off the bat harder and faster than last year.Last edited by bronxbombers21325; 03-20-2024, 10:16 AM.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 24 Impressions Thread
Does the cpu swing and miss a ton, and easy to get 12+ Ks against them nearly every game? Sliders away still near guaranteed chase swing and miss? Really trusting guys who had this problem last year to let me know. Are the "extra long bats" from 2022 back? Really hoping so! Literally the only thing holding me back from purchasing.

I've noticed the past few years when I play with Zone I defintely hit more bombs than I do in say Directional. It was that way for me at least, last year and it feels similar this year.
As of right now I'm playing HOF with directional hitting and it's been good so far, but it's a pretty small sample size since switching from Zone.Last edited by bkrich83; 03-20-2024, 11:22 AM.Comment
