Re: MLB The Show 24 Impressions Thread
Also since you're using classic pitching, the late or early release of the pitch I think is tied to the pitcher attributes, not tied to you clicking the pitch button.JUUUUUUUST A BIT OUTSIDEComment

Re: MLB The Show 24 Impressions Thread
Does the cpu swing and miss a ton, and easy to get 12+ Ks against them nearly every game? Sliders away still near guaranteed chase swing and miss? Really trusting guys who had this problem last year to let me know. Are the "extra long bats" from 2022 back? Really hoping so! Literally the only thing holding me back from purchasing.

Re: MLB The Show 24 Impressions Thread
At it again this morning. May have to bump hitting difficulty up a notch. Offense has been sort of effortless for me so far. Lots of home runs and lots of high scoring on the offense for me this year so far. I’ve lead off 4 games with a HR and my lead off hitter isn’t a HR by any stretch of the imagination. Seems like the ball comes off the bat harder and faster than last year.
Side note.... why is Gleyber wearing #4?

Re: MLB The Show 24 Impressions Thread
The white UI screens are absolutely horrid. Whomever signed off on that should be questioned.
Foul ball frequency slider has little to no effect. I turned it down all the way after Sonny Grey threw 52 pitches through two innings. One at bat had at least a dozen foul balls.
Player faces indeed look very good. Quite impressed.
Oh how I would love a pitching interface similar to Super Mega Baseball. Until then, it's either meter or classic (classic being my preferred method).
The catcher's suggestion "glove" is too faint imo. I can see the location but it should be darkened a bit.
Jerseys and player models need an upgrade badly. The uniforms just don't "flow" and the sleeves have looked the same for years.
Default accessories on the ball players look nice. Love the differentiation in personality styles.PSN: sportdan30

FYI
The Foul Ball Frequency slider has a strong affect on balls landing fair vs foul not how many or how less they "foul off".
This is from 1000's of hours of playing The Show and testing sliders.

Re: MLB The Show 24 Impressions Thread
Almost been a week with MLBTS 24 and now ready to post some impressions of the game. I'm playing 99% RTTS so my impressions are based on that mode.
Positive :
I've seen enough improvements overall that the game feels as much fun, if not more, than MLBTS 23.
The lighting, the colors, but mainly, the sky, looks unbelievable this year. I know it's not a deal breaker for most, but I kinda have almost as fun watching the game than playing it!
I've seen more animations from players, making me smile a few times. Rolling the dice, bowling, etc. is fun and just add to the experience.
The combine is nice but geez that the ambiance is worse than when we we're 1800 in the Olympic Stadium for an Expos game.
The interactions with the agent, the coaches, etc. is also a nice touch.
Negative :
Only one thing. The menus (color and font) are not great on a visual standpoint. I know, maybe I'm old, but the handwriting font makes it unpleasant, let's say it that way.
Overall, while there's no wow factor, that game is fun. I've already played it 40 hours and I will surely have the same kind of year I had with MLBTS 20."Ice hockey is a form of disorderly conduct in which the score is kept." - Doug LarsonComment

Re: MLB The Show 24 Impressions Thread
How is hitting?
I've got the game installed, but haven't actually played a game yet. Got my franchise started and hired my scouts, but I'm editing equipment before I dive in.
Was planning on going All-Star with the timing slider at 0 for me and 10 for the cpu, which worked well on 21 for me. But I'm thinking it may be better to just go default HOF. I'm playing on competitive and not simulation when the time comes, FWTW.Last edited by LowerWolf; 03-21-2024, 01:30 AM.Comment

The only thing I've noticed is that I think swing timing (I use Zone/Buttons) is a tad quicker, like there isn't a hesitation between button press and swing starting. Not sure if that makes sense or how to explain what I'm seeing/feeling.
I say this simply because I'm able to turn on inside fastballs easier/quicker than previous years. But I don't feel that pitch speed has been slowed down, as it visually seems the same to me.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(
