The Royals signing Bobby Witt long term may have fixed the trade logic, since the first thing the cpu seemed to do in every franchise last year was moving Witt from KC

Has anyone simmed into the playoffs on a test franchise by any chance? I watched the wild card round on a franchise stream earlier today and there were no post season patches on the uniforms. I know they are in because we’ve seen videos and pics. I’m trying to figure out if they’re in on franchise or if it’s only when you do post season mode.

Braves Take First Home Series of 2024 In Back and Forth Effort Against Diamondbacks

The Atlanta Braves pulled off a nailbiter of a series in the early stages of the season against one of the most impressive teams in the National League the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The opener was a pitcher's duel, as the Braves got a strong bounce back effort from Max Fried (7 IP, 8 hits, 1 ER, 5 Ks) and two good innings out of the bullpen. Offensively, the Braves struggled to get much going outside of another Austin Riley home run and an Ozzie Albies single and found themselves up 2-1 heading into the eighth before Matt Olson hit a double with bases loaded to score all runners. Braves win 5-1.

In the Saturday matchup, we saw an offensive onslaught from both teams, as Christian Walker led the way for the Diamondbacks with a couple of homers in the middle innings en roue to a 6-2 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh. In that inning we would see homers from Ronald Acuna and Matt Olson during a five run outburst to give them a 7-6 lead. Walker would make the Braves pay again in the top of the eighth though, taking a Reynaldo Lopez slider to deep left for a two run shot in an eventual 8-7 win for Arizona.

The third game of the series led the same level of excitement, as Charlie Morton and Ryne Nelson worked around trouble for a few innings before both imploded in the middle innings. Acuna and Riley would go back to back off of Nelson in the fifth to give the Braves a 4-1 cushion. Joc Pederson, former Brave hero, and Jace Pederson, another former Brave, would both launch homers off of Morton in the sixth to tie the game 4-4. From there we would see a slight stalemate before an Ozzie Albies walk would lead to a steal before Sean Murphy caught a slider and roped it into left for the go ahead run in the bottom of the eighth. The Diamondbacks would get two hits and a walk off of Raisel Iglesias, but eh veteran would force a pop up from Ketel Marte and a groundout from Pederson to shut the door in a 5-4 win.

This was the first series to see real signs of life from Acuna and Olson, who have gotten off to a slot start. It also saw the continued explosion of Riley, who has now hit an astounding 10 homers in the first nine games of the season. It's been an inconsistent offense outside of him, but things are trending in a good direction overall.

The Braves (5-4) will now host a New York Mets team (2-7) that is off to a dreadul start in a four game series.

Re: MLB The Show 24 Franchise Mode Discussion Thread

Spring Training has come to an end and now the roster crunch begins. We finished spring training with a 12-10 record which was good enough for 7th place in the Cactus League. There are several intriguing roster moves which should take place with several players performing extremely well. Lets take a look at some of the battles.

Before we do that, with the team not happy with the Spring stats for Jurickson Profar (.148, 1 HR, 8 RBI), the team has reunited with OF Tommy Pham on a 1 yr deal. Pham is projected to slot right into the starting LF spot.

          Tyler Wade vs Tucupita Marcano

Tyler Wade .324, 1 HR, 7 RBI. Left handed bat who can play 2B, 3B, SS, LF, CF, RF
Tucupita Marcano .286, 4 RBI. Left handed bat who can play 2B, 3B, SS, LF, RF

          Slight edge to Tyler Wade

          Tim Locastro vs Cal Mitchell

Tim Locastro .385, 2 RBI, Eligible at CF, LF, RF, 2B, SS. Much more speed off the bench
Cal Mitchell .320, 1 RBI, Left handed bat. LF, CF, RF eligibility

          Additional bench spots
Brett Sullivan .350 avg, 2 RBI. Can play C, 3B, LF. Is it worth carrying a third catcher? He does offer some versatility being able to play OF and 3B. Kyle Higashioka did struggle in spring hitting .192 with 1 HR and 3 RBI.

Moving onto the #5 slot in the rotation, the candidates are between Jhony Brito and Randy Vasquez.
          Jhony Brito - 14 IP, 16 SO, 1.93 ERA, 0.79 WHIP
Randy Vasquez - 0-0 18.1 IP, 18 K, 3.93 ERA 1.09 WHIP. Vasquez was every bit in contention however in the very last game of the spring he got rocked for 4 runs in 4 IP which seems to have paved the way for Jhony Brito to claim the final rotation spot next to Musgrove, Darvish, King, and Cease.

Luis Patino vs Stephen Kolek. Interesting battle here where the team can possibly lose one of the arms if they don't make the bullpen. These two are not necessarily competing against one another, however Patino is out of options and Kolek is a Rule 5 pick that must stay or be forced to return to Seattle.

          Luis Patino: 0-1, 9.2 IP, 12 K, 1.86 ERA, 1.03 WHIP
          Stephen Kolek: 0-1, 10.1 IP, 6 K, 3.48 ERA, 1.35 WHIP.

Tough decisions to be made which should take into the night to decide. Stay tuned!

              2024 Oakland Athletics 04/01-04/03

              Overall Record:2-5 (5th AL West/4.0 behind Seattle)

              Game Results

              Game 1
              Red Sox-5
              Athletics-1

              Game 2
              Red Sox-3
              Athletics-1

              Game 3
              Athletics-5
              Red Sox-3

Okay...can we just skip to the last game of the series?

That's twice now in two try's. The Oakland Athletics have now started the season at a disappointing but expected 2-5. Both of their wins came in the final game of their two first series (game 4 VS Cleveland and Game three VS Boston).

Thankfully for those wins, The A's have not been swept. In the Boston series, games one and two saw the A's offense struggle to a tune of just two combined runs and 10 combined hits.

As mentioned earlier, the A's had better fortune in game three. In that game, Zack Gelof continues his all or nothing approach as he hit two homeruns and drove in four of the A's five total runs. To explain that further, Gelof has started the year just 3-25 with all three of his hits being homeruns.

Rookie shortstop, Darrell Hernaiz added the A's other RBI in the 8th inning after his bloop signle scored Miguel Andujar.

Pitching wise, Alex wood had a pretty good game (6.0 IP, 6 H, 0 R, 2 SO) and closer, Lucas Erceg got his first save of his career as the A's took the victory, 5-3.

The A's will now travel for the first time in 2024 as they head to Detroit to take on the Tigers (4-2/2nd AL Central).

Braves' Inconsistent Start Continues in Series Split with Mets

The Atlanta Braves started a four game series against the Mets with back-to-back one run efforts in outings with excellent pitching. In game one, Bryce Elder through six innings with only two allowed, but an Austin Riley homer (11th) was the only score put on the board as the bats never got going. Spencer Strider was similar in the second game, striking out six in seven innings while giving up two. The offense did him no favors, with only a Travis d'Arnaud RBI single giving them their only run of the day to lose the first two games of the series.

Then the offense exploded again, despite Max Fried struggling with three runs allowed in four innings. Riley (12th), Ozzie Albies (4), and Sean Murphy (3) each going deep while Acuna picked up two hits and scored twice in an 8-5 win. The final game of the series was a blow out win, with Riley (13) AGAIN going yard while Adam Duvall found his first round tripper of the season. Matt Olson tacked on a two run double, while Chris Sale threw 6+ dominant innings in an 8-1 win.

The Braves currently stand at 7-6 and are heading down to Miami for a three game set against the Marlins (6-7). The Braves are 1.5 games back behind the fast starting Washington Nationals (8-4). Riley's 13 homers are currently more than nine entire teams as the third basemen is cruising to a monster career year with one of the greatest starts in team history. If Acuna (.184/.310/.367, 2 homers, 5 steals) and Olson (.200/.321/.356, one HR) get going, this team can get hot in a hurry.

Cardinals swept by Diamonbacks in Arizona

The Cardinals (7-9) continue their woes with a series sweep to the Diamondbacks and now have lost 5 games in a row.

The Cardinals continue to lose games in all 3 facets of the game. Either the bats don't produce runs, pitching can't prevent runs, or the defense gives out free runs. Extremely frustrating start to the year and compounded by how last year went.

The Cardinals will head to Oakland for a 3 game series with the A's in what will hopefully be a "get right" series for the Redbirds.

sounds like its being pretty realistic to where i believe our Cards will be this year based on the coaching and front office moves. I hope you can get them straightened out better than i feel like it will be done in real life. GO CARDS!!!!

Going through the full Yankee lineup is such a headache. Just no breaks while you're pitching. Especially Soto coming up after you battled with Judge, Torres and Verdugo before.

I am in the middle of the second game of the series and I am literally sweating fighting with those guys.

New York Mets Franchise- Season 1

Summary- Alright trying to take the advice of many posters and breaking my own rules, NOT doing 30 team control (Going to try and live my own universe), NOT waiting for a roster update (I imported the players missing caps, so Yamamoto and all the other guys are in though Dodgers have him in A ball lol). Going to try and just let it play out and have some fun without being over worked. We will see how it goes. Played the spring before posting to see if I had any hope of doing it this way.

One Side Note- I did turn off auto save so if any crazy trades happen, I will go back to a previous save. Sorry I can try a lot of things but Judge being dealt to the A's is not one of them.

Level- Hall of Fame to start will adjust sliders if I feel I am not losing enough.

Team Summary- We made it through spring training with only minor injuries nothing that carried over into the regular season.

                                Game 1: Phillies win 6-1
Game 2: Phillies walk it off and win 5-3
Game 3: Braves clobber the Phillies and win 10-3

The Phillies started their season off strong winning their series against their rivals the Atlanta Braves.
Game 1 saw Spencer Strider go up against Zack Wheeler.
Strider could not exercise his demons at Citizens Bank Park as he gave up 3 ER on 9 hits. Wheeler had an excellent showing only giving up 1 ER on 5 hits and struck out 7.
Kyle Schawber and Johan Rojas got off to fast starts as Kyle launched 2 homeruns and Rojas had a decent day at the plate going 3-4 with two doubles.

Game 2 had Aaron Nola facing off against Max Fried in a back and forth game.
Fried was hosing down Phillies hitters striking out 9 on the day while giving up 3 ER.
Nola gave up 2 ER on 5 hits and struck out 7.
Fireworks came in the bottom of the 9th as Edmundo Sosa hit a pitch hit 2 run walkoff homerun as he came in for a struggling Brandon Marsh.
Johan Rojas continued his hot bat in this game as he hit an unlikely wall scraper for a home run.

Game 3 pitched Ranger Suárez and Chris Sale in a one sided game.
A combination of frustrated Braves hitters and Ranger not having his best stuff saw Suárez get pounded for 7 ERs coming on 6 homers and he only lasted 3.2 IP.
Sale on the other hand was dealing going 7 innings and striking out 9 on 2 hits and 1 ER.
Phillies bats were relatively quiet as the only runs were thanks to a Bryson Stott blast and a Alec Bohm base hit.

Rojas had an excellent series going 5/10 with 2 doubles and a HR
Orion Kerkering has looked great so far striking out 5 in 3 IP with no walks or earned runs

The Phillies will hope to continue their winning ways as they host Elly De La Cruz and the Cincinnati Reds in a 3 game set.
