    Royals Win Series Against Rangers

The Royals (23-12, 1st AL Central 2.5 GU) won 2 of 3 against the Rangers in Kansas City.

Kansas City won the first game 8-2 thanks to HR's by Salvador Perez and JD Martinez. Brady Singer (5-2 3.32 ERA) went 6 innings for the win.

The second game saw the Royals squeak out a narrow 2-1 victory despite only registering 6 hits. Bobby Witt Jr. and JD Martinez both hit an HR, and Kyle Wright (4-0 2.18 ERA) went 7 innings to get the win.

The Royals lost the final game 6-0. The offense went cold and only had 6 hits. Michael Wacha (2-3 2.61 ERA) went 6 innings and gave up 7 hits and 2 earned in the loss.

Next up: The Royals finish the home stand by taking on the Milwaukee Brewers (16-18 2.0 GB NL Central) in a three game series.

Cardinals drop series to Pirates at PNC Park

The Cardinals (30-24) dropped their series with the Pirates in Pittsburgh over the weekend. The Cardinals now find themselves 2 games behind the Brewers.

Bullpen blowups. That is all that needs to be said. The bullpen lost games on Saturday and Sunday by blowing the lead late, and eventually being walked-off in both games. Ryan Helsley blew the save Sunday, and Garrett Crochet blew a 3 run lead in the 8th on Saturday.

As stated before, pitching has to be the top target for the Cardinals when the trade season opens. Need to find stability at the backend of the rotation and at middle relief of the bullpen.

Next is a 4 game series in Cincinnati with the Reds who are just a half game back of the Cardinals for 2nd place.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Texas Rangers Update Season 3 MOM

After a promising offseason that saw the Rangers sign Vlad Guerrero while also sporting the top payroll in baseball we have simply fallen on our faces. In 20 years of playing this franchise I have never had a worse pitching staff. We sit at 22-34 and 12 games out of first' 8 games out of the Wild Card. We lead the league in team batting Average and Juan Soto is 2nd in the MVP race, yet other than Shane Bieber who is 8-0 we don't have 1 single pitcher that's worth a crap. Chris Paddack had a ERA of 8.5 so was sent down, Jack Leiter is 0-6 with an ERA over 9. Heaney and Degrom are terrible and my bullpen is a wreck, probably because aside from 1 pitcher I cant get out of the 5th inning with a starter. I hate seasons like these because it doesn't matter what i do, I cant put anything together. To make things worse after not signing with Texas, Jon Gray is 7-1 with the Yankees

So I'm at the AS break and I want to reset my rotation to start the next game with my #1 starter. Right now, it's showing my #3 starter since my #2 went before the AS break.

I know I can manually select my #1 before I play the game, would it then automatically select my #2 the next game and so forth, or will it show my #4 starter on the calendar for my next game?

Worst case, I could put my #1 in the #3 slot, #2 in #4 slot, etc.. but there has to be a way for the game to reset back to my #1.

            2024 Chicago Cubs 05/27-05/30

Cubs split series with Brewers in Milwaukee

Michael Busch made a case to remain as the everyday first baseman for the Cubs in game one versus Milwaukee. It was a career day for Busch as he went 3-4 with two homeruns, a triple and 6 rbis. Busch's first homerun came in the second inning after Ian Happ walked in front of him to at the time give the Cubs the 3-0 lead.

His second homerun brought the lead up to 7-0 with a grandslam in the fourth inning. From there, the Cubs scored one more while they allowed just a single run from the Brewers as they won game one, 8-1.

Busch then went 0-8 in the remaining three games of the season and since being called up is just 6-45 for an even worse then Mervis batting average of .133. It hasnt really been fair as the Cubs have faced an odd number of lefties since he was called up. It seems even every teams bullpen arms are lefties as well.

For now Busch will stay in the role but the Cubs arent closing off other options to include a possible trade, free agent signing or another player being called up.

The rest of the series was a sea-saw affair as the teams alternated wins and eventually tied the four game series at 2-2.

May is now coming to a close as the Cubs start their first 2024 series against the Reds (27-30/5th NL Central)

Definitely very difficult to play all 162. I honestly could never. I play the first and last game of every series, simulating game two (and three for the four game series). That is difficult enough for me but I am managing to get through. This will be the first year I've ever finished an entire season once I do. I plan to take a break until probably Spring 2025 after I finish season one so I have a chance to keep going multiple seasons without burning out.

Royals Drop Game #1 To The Rangers, deGrom Goes Down To Injury

The Royals lost the first game of the American League Wild Card Series to the Rangers 4-0. They couldn't get a hit when it mattered most, leaving 10 runners on base.

Rangers SP Jacob deGrom pitched for 2.1 innings before leaving the game with shoulder tightness. He is expected to be out day to day. The bullpen stepped it up and kept the shutout.

The Royals will try to keep their season alive in Game #2.

                        Royals Blown Out, Season Over

The Royals lost game two and thus the series of the American League Wild Card Series to the Rangers 13-4.

Royals SP Kyle Wright was completely off his game, only going 2 innings and giving up 10 hits and 7 runs.

The Royals will now look to the off-season to see if they try and make their way back to the postseason in 2025.

Cubs lose last game of May but win first two of June

The Chicago Cubs enter June as the second best team in the MLB at 41-20, three games behind the 44-15 Atlanta Braves.

Chicago started their first series against Cincinnati with a 2-1 loss. The loss marked Chicago's third time to lose two games in a row in May. That was something they didn't do at all in April. Still, the Cubs have to be elated with their start to 2024.

The Cubs finished off the series winning tight games their selves, 5-4 and 4-3 in games two and three.

Game three went into extras and the Cubs won it 4-3 after on a walk off line drive sacrifice fly by Patrick Wisdom as Seiya Suzuki just beat out Conner Capel's throw to home.

The Cubs will now face off with the White Sox for their first series against their cross-town rivals in 2024 against the sorry White Sox who currently sit at 18-43 which is good for fifth in the AL Central and 21.5 behind the first place Twins.

Cubs get their second consecutive player of the month

Cody Bellinger won the NL player of the month in April. That was followed up by Patrick Wisdom winning that same honor for the month of May.

After a poor month of April, Wisdom hit for a .284 average in May with 16 homeruns and 37 RBIs as he took the team lead in both categories. He is also on the short list for NL MVP while Bellinger has fallen off with his recent struggles.

Cardinals split 4 game series with Reds

The Cardinals (32-26) split their 4 game series with the Reds in Cincinnati to begin the week. The Cardinals are now 3 games behind the Brewers and currently hold the 3rd wild card spot as the calendar moves into June.

The Cardinals won the first two games of the series but quiet bats and bullpen let downs led to the series ending up tied. Jordan Wallker continues to be a bright spot for the lineup as he had 7 hits in the series, while only playing in 3 games. The bullpen continues to be a sore spot, as they gave up 6 runs combined in the final two games.

The Cardinals will now head home to welcome to the Cubs to town for a 3 game weekend series.

Texas Rangers update season 3 MOM.

What a turn around. Texas is now 31 and 37 and sit 8 games out but 4 and a half out of the Wild Card. Tyler Mahle was recalled after Degrom was sent down and had been great, plus the offense continues to destroy the ball. It looked bad thru May but Texas is turning the corner

                                Royals 2025 Preview

The Kansas City Royals finished 2024 88-74, which was good enough for 2nd place in the AL Central. They fell in the Wild Card Series 2-0 to the eventual Back to Back World Series Champion Texas Rangers.

In the Offseason, the Royals traded away long-time catcher and face of the franchise, Salvador Perez. This freed up enough cap space to go after a bunch of key free agents. They signed 10 major pieces that should help them contend right away.

Next up: Opening Day on the road vs. the Detroit Tigers. Royals SP Walker Buehler takes on Tigers SP Tarik Skubal.

Reminder: I will be playing one game and simming five for the regular season.
