Re: MLB The Show 24 Franchise Mode Discussion Thread

How is franchise mode from a features perspective, specifically compared to MLBTS23? I'm wondering because I'm already a few years deep into a franchise in 23 that I spent a lot of time adjusting ratings on the roster and creating custom players. I would do it again for a new franchise in 24 if there were some really good new feature(s) or quality of life improvements.

<center>PADRES SWEEP CARDINALS, IMPROVE TO 8-1

The Padres received major offensive contribution from slugger Manny Machado as the Padres swept the Cardinals to improve to 8-1. Game 1 saw Michael King outduel Lance Lynn where Manny Machado and Kyle Higashioka slugged a 2 run HR each. Enyel De Los Santos notched his first save as regular closer Robert Suarez received a day off after throwing in 2 straight to end the SF series. The Padres won game 2 3-2 on a Manny Machado walk off home run in the 9th inning off of STL closer Ryan Helsley. Tom Cosgrove picked up the win to improve to 2-0. The walk off HR was Machado's second of the game. Game 3 saw a 3-0 shut out win where Yu Darvish threw 7 scoreless innings while only allowing 2 hits and striking out 5 to lower his ERA to 2.07. Robert Suarez picked up his 3rd save of the year.

I’d probably keep rolling with your old franchise if you’re still invested in it

The Detroit Tigers have had internal discussions on the possibility of bringing in free agent DH and former Tiger J.D. Martinez. The Tigers are off to a 13-2 start, mainly because of excellent pitching, and good production from the top of the order. However, aside from Javy Baez, who is hitting .309, they haven't gotten much production out of the 4-9 spots in the order. Main DH Kerry Carpenter is hitting just .170. Mark Canha, who has shared the cleanup spot with Carpenter, is hitting just .231 with a homer and 6 RBI.

Martinez would be a clear upgrade, but would reduce the lineup flexibility that manager A.J. Hinch likes.

It is believed that Martinez wants a two year deal worth at least 10 million a season. That asking price could be too steep for the Tigers.

                    NOTABLE FREE AGENTS STILL UNSIGNED.

Here we are, in the middle of April, and some notable free agents are still without a team. Along wioth the aforementioned Martinez, SPs Jordan Montgomery, and Michael Lorenzen remain unsigned. Montgomery is a Scott Boras client, and seems to want a long term deal, which teams have seemingly been hesitent to give. Same seems to be true with Lorenzen, though his asking price is much lower.

Contenders that could be in need of an upgrade are the likes of the Rangers, Padres, Yankees, and Dodgers. The longer they remain unsigned, the asking price could go down. A couple players, notably Blake Snell settled for a 2 year deal with an opt out after the 2024 season. It's possible that Montgomery, and/or Martinez could do the same.

To avoid team fatigue im contemplating running multiple franchises and bouncing around.
Question, The Tampa Bay Rays. I don't mind the stadium but know they operate on a tight budget. With no more Franco are they still on the hook for that? Could I spread that money around to say Arozarena or Junior Camineiro?

What makes realistic sense? Think it will be fun to try and survive with the pitching injuries until they come back. Maybe try and get all 3 Lowes on the same team lol. Grab a few prospects with my top guys who will want too much money to have a constant, ever flowing farm team to look forward to. Idk, bouncing ideas

I play with them on. Keeps the immersion and realism. Full disclosure, I play with the Guardians and edit some players before starting the franchise and give them realistic extensions to increase my budget so my team is no longer a poverty franchise.

I’m trying to play a franchise with my Braves where I play a couple games per week (on the game) and I’m not sure how much longer I’ll be able to continue it. This lineup is so deadly, I’m mashing like 5-7 home runs every game. And I’m dynamic difficulty, currently on HOF+. I mean as fun as it is, I’m afraid I’ll get bored of this. And it seems a little unrealistic. However, I’m not strictly playing only this franchise. I wanna keep this open and jump in it every couple days so we’ll see where it goes.

Does franchise mode still suck where players will be tired every 3-4 games and need rested? Havent played in a while and I remember how annoying that was.

Yes I love my players stats resetting and reporting incorrectly a bug that was also in the game last year. I also just lost a game in the 9th because I couldn't sub my gassed pitcher out due to some bug where the option to put in game is sometimes not there. Gotta patch that diamond dynasty tho.
