I just looked over the Mets schedule and I'm estimating 70-75% of their home games are days games. Very weird start times too, not just the standard 1 or 4pm start times. A good amount of 11 and 12 start times , plus a few starting at 2 or 5 which I don't think I've ever seen a Mets game start at either of those times. The weirdest part is the one night game I've had so far was on opening day, and they never play at night for their home opener.

Orioles Complete Sweep of Twins
The Orioles homestand got off to a rocky start after losing 2 out of 3 to Milwaukee, but they got back on track with a 3 game sweep of the Minnesota Twins.
Down 1-0 in the bottom of the 7th the Orioles got on the board thanks to a 2 run single from rookie Jackson Holliday. Anthony Santander would add a 2 run shot in the 8th as the Orioles would win by a final score of 4-1.
John Means would improve his record to 2-0 throwing 8 innings of 1 run ball. Means gave up 2 hits and struck out 4 in the outing. Felix Bautista notched his 3rd save of the season.

17-2 and on pace for 145 wins 😂 I’d say maybe you need to bump up the difficulty, but you’ve had a fair number of close wins too, so not like you’re just blowing everyone away every game.Comment

Cardinals sweep White Sox for first series win since early April
The Cardinals (15-19) swept the White Sox in a 3 game series at Busch stadium for their first series win since the first week of April when they swept the Padres. It's also the first time since that Padres series, the Cardinals have won back to back games. The Cardinals still trail the Brewers/Cubs by 5 games in the NL Central.
The Cardinals played solid in all phases of the game during the series. Ryan Helsley recorded back to back saves after blowing his last opportunity against the Tigers. Nolan Arenado seems to have found his stroke as he recorded 7 hits in the series including a pair of homeruns.
The Cardinals are back at it Monday as they host the Mets for a 3 game series. The Cardinals still haven't announced who will take ball during Gray's turn in the rotation.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Atlanta Braves March/April 2024 Recap
Monthly Record: 20-10
Season Record: 20-10
NL East Standings: Braves 20-10, Phillies 17-14 (3.5), Nationals 14-15 (5.5), Marlins 13-18 (7.5), Mets 11-19 (9.0)
Offensive Player of the Month: Austin Riley - Riley posted a record breaking month of April, mashing a franchise record 16 homers in the month with two in March. Even just being a league average player the next few months he’s almost all but guaranteed to be an All Star for the third time.
Pitcher of the Month: Spencer Strider - Strider was completely dominant, the best pitcher in the NL in April and it showed as he too took a Player of the Month award for pitchers. He was virtually untouchable and is the favorite for the Cy Young early in the season.
Player That Disappointed: Aaron Bummer - The Braves acquired Bummer to be a lefty killer, particularly with the Philadelphia Phillies in mind, and it has not been a good start. He has been hit hard at times and unlucky at others. The Braves are hoping for a rebound.
Player That Surprised: Jared Kelenic - Kelenic is more of a pleasant surprise, though the Braves obviously had high hopes for him when they traded for him this off season. The young left fielder has been one of the most valuable hitters on the team so far, showing patience and power.

Pierce Johnson: 2-1 | 0 S | 17.2 IP | 3.06 ERA | 19 Ks
Thoughts for April: It was a hot and cold start, but the Braves really picked it up over the past few weeks of April and are playing like they are: one of the best teams in baseball. Riley’s fast start carried the offense for the first 15 games, but Albies, Acuna, and Olson really rounded into form and appear as if they will live up to their high expectations. The rotation has been really good, but the bullpen has had some rough outings sprinkled with dominant ones. Bullpen play can be volatile though, and a few good weeks can change that perception.Comment

Diamondbacks drop 3 games of 4 against the Rockies to start the season
Game 1 : COL 4-2 ARZ // Game 2 : COL 1-12 ARZ // Game 3 : COL 7-3 ARZ // Game 4 : COL 3-1 ARZ
The Arizona Diamondback started the 2024 season by dropping 3 games of 4 at Chase Field against the Rockies.
On Opening Day, Zac Gallen (8.0 IP, 8 H, 4 ER, 0 BB, 9 SO) had a rough 4th inning where the Rockies scored all their 4 runs while Corbin Carroll was the only one to score for the Snakes with 2 solo HR.
Game 2 saw the Diamondbacks caught fire in the 6th inning, scoring a total of 8 runs. On the mound, Merrill Kelly (6.0 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 4 SO) and the bullpen limited the Rockies with only 4 hits.
The third game ot the serie was a nigthmare for Eduardo Rodriguez allowing 6 runs in only 2 innings pitched and the D-Backs never recovered from this rocky start. That's not exactly how you wanted your season with a new team to begin with.
Despite a good outing by Brandon Pfaadt (5.0 IP, 9 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 5 SO) in the last game of the serie, the D-Backs offense was cold all day as they score their only run in the 7th.
The Diamondbacks homestand will continue as the Yankees (2-2), after a road trip to Houston, are coming to town for a 3 games serie.Comment

We have just completed April and have officially played a full month of baseball. I'm still being carried by pitching however hitters are slowly warming up, except for Tatis Jr. I am seriously at a loss with what to do with him.

Wade .294/.321/.373 0 HR, 2 RBI
Musgrove 3-2, 1.34 ERA
King 5-1, 2.62 ERA
Cease 3-1, 2.25 ERA
Darvish 4-2, 1.81 ERA
Wardron 0-0, 3.60 ERA
Saurez 0.00 ERA 11/11 Saves
Matsui 0.00 ERA 0.64 WHIP. 11 IP, 9 K
Cosgrove 2-0, 0.00 ERA, 0.47 WHIP. 10.2 IP, 12 K
Patino 2-0, 15.1 IP, 21 K, 2.93 ERA, 0.98 WHIP. The once top prospect who has returned home is actually being considered for a return to the rotation with the possibility of Waldron being shifted to the pen or optioned back to AAA El Paso for another reliever if Patino gets the nod. He has looked filthy since his return to SD.

Braves With Successful Trip to the Northwest, Sweep Struggling Seattle
April 29-May 1, 2024
The Braves took their hot start to the season up to Seattle to play a Mariners team that has struggled in the early going of the season, and the trend continued for both teams.
In the first game, Charlie Morton took a no hitter into the seventh inning while the Atlanta offense feasted, jumping out to an 11-0 lead before crushing to an eventual 11-4 victory. Marcel Ozuna (twice), Ozzie Albies (twice), Ronald Acuna, and former Mariner Jared Kelenic all went deep in this game.
The second game was much the same as the first: the Braves got good pitching from Bryce Elder (6 IP, 1 ER) while the offense scored early and often. Albies, Acuna, and Matt Olson hit homers, as all three combined to knock in all seven runs in. A 7-1 win for the Braves.
In the last game, the Braves completed the sweep with an easy 6-1 win, which included yet another great Spencer Strider (7 IP, 1 ER, 6 Ks) start to get him to 4-1. Acuna hit a homer for the third straight game along with a triple, and Olson also found the cheap seats. The bats are rolling.
The Braves have now won six straight games and are at 21-10, up 4.5 games over the Phillies. Up next, a three game set in Los Angeles to play the Dodgers (22-11).Last edited by WillieB1214; 03-23-2024, 02:06 PM.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 24 Franchise Mode Discussion Thread
So let me begin with I play on HOF and default sliders, minus injuries I increase by 3 and I increase RP fatigue by 1 so they're tired faster. I don't know if it was me having a day or Oakland is just god awful in this game. I started with yesterdays Yamamoto roster update and added a few missing international players.
History Making Opening Day
Shane Bieber was on fire to start the season and Oakland was impatient at the plate. That was a great mixture for Guardian fans as they witnessed history. The 3rd perfect game in Cleveland history! Bieber threw a 94 pitch, 9 strikeout perfect game. They say it takes not only skill but a lot of luck to throw a no hitter, let alone a perfect game and Bieber got some luck. Laureano early in the 3rd inning made a diving catch to get the 3rd out of the inning and Josh Naylor layed out for one at first base in the 8th inning to preserve the perfect game. Oakland was swinging early and swinging often. Meanwhile Paul Blackburn on the other side couldn't find the plate and when he did Jose Ramirez went deep to right field for a grand slam in the top of the 3rd inning to score 4 of Cleveland's 5 runs.
Game 2 was little more normal as Ramon Laureano reintroduced himself to Oakland with an RBI single in the 1st off Alex Wood. Triston McKenzie started up where Bieber left off. Oakland officially opened the season going 10.2 innings being no hit. Then Seth brown said enough of that and got a 2 out knock to left field before a Ryan Noda out to short to end the inning. The bottomof the 4th though Geloff decided Oakland needs a run and sent a McKenzie curve ball to the deepest part of center field to make it 3-1. The game would end that way though as Clase got his 1st save of the season.
Saturday Oakland returned the favor with 9 hits and 7 runs, scoring 2 in the 8th to take the lead for good. Starters Tanner Bibee and J.P Sears were both knocked around early and often by the bats. Oaklands bullpen was in better form to get the win, giving up 1 hit and no runs in 4 innings. Meanwhile Karinchak went .2 giving up 1 run, Trevor Stephan gave up 3 hits and 2 runs in his own .2 inning.
Cleveland looked to make sure they won the 4 game set and Jose Ramirez was the catalyst. His 3rd homerun of the season gave Cleveland the lead early and Ramon Laureano tacked on to it. Both teams had 12 hits a piece, Cleveland just did a better job getting them home. Oakland left 8 on base while The Guardians Jose Ramirez had 3 RBI, Laureano and Bo Naylor had 2 of their own. It was Naylor's 1st 2 hits of the young season.
Cleveland (3-1) head north to Seattle (3-1) for a date with Woo, Castillo and Kirby to get a real idea of what this team can do against stronger competition.

Franchise is reds. Bottom of the 9th down by 1 vs Orioles. I have a base runner on 1st. I pinch hit Jake Fraley for Stuart Fairchild. Fraley comes in and all his stats are wiped to zero. In addition, my baserunner just disappears. I double with Fraley but instead of being a tied game it is not because my baserunner disappeared.Comment

Atlanta Takes Two Out of Three in Exciting Series With the Dodgers
May 3-5, 2024
In a series of two powerhouses, it was Atlanta that came out on top in this series. The first game featured two of the best lefties in the game, and Max Fried and Clayton Kershaw came out with nearly identical stat lines. Both threw six innings and gave up two runs, though Kershaw dealt more walks while Fried probably got away with a few more mistakes, though he did give up a two-run homer to Mookie Betts. In what became a matchup of the bullpens, the Braves trio of Reynaldo Lopez, AJ Minter, and Raisel Iglesias combined for three innings, no base runners allowed, and three strikeouts, while an Orlando Arcia off of JP Feyereisen would eventually lead the Braves scoring three total runs off of the LA bullpen. An Ozzie Ablies double in the eighth to score Matt Olson would be the dagger in a 5-2 win for Atlanta. Adam Duvall homered off of Kershaw in this one.
The second game was another close one with the Braves winning 6-4, led by a homer from Olson and two from Marcell Ozuna. Olson added a double and four RBI in the game in total. Chris Sale was very good, nothing 6 IP with only 2 runs allowed and nine strikeouts to get his second win of the season. Lopez would give up a run out of the pen, while Dylan Lee and Joe Jimenez were perfect. Iglesias would give up a solo shot to Teoscar Hernandez, but closed out his fifth save of the season.
Shohei Ohtani would take the mound and put up his best pitching performance on a season with few of them (4.46 ERA), completing six innings and striking out 10 Braves while only allowing a run via Olson homer. The Dodgers bullpen was lights out, only allowed one run with five guys combining to take the mound. Charlie Morton was solid, giving up two runs in five innings, with Tyler Matzek, Aaron Bummer, and Lee all throwing scoreless innings behind him. The game would go into the bottom of the ninth tied at 2-2, but Jiminez would give up a walk off homer to Betts and the Dodgers would take a 3-2 win to save themselves from a sweep in what was a really fun series.
The Braves now stand at 23-11 for the second-best record in baseball (Twins 24-10) and are up 5.5 games over the Philadelphia Phillies in the NL East. Up next in a trip back home for a two-game set against the Boston Red Sox (16-19). Atlanta went 5-1 over the short road trip.
_______________
Also just wanted to say I am having a blast with this game. This has been so fun so far. After playing through the first 10 games myself, I have been playing the first game of every series and then simming the rest. Got one more week of work before a vacation, should make a lot of progress then!Comment
