Re: MLB The Show 25 Franchise Discussion

Why is it impossible to start a franchise at the regular season with a live roster? No matter what I do the actual MLB roster is overwritten and it seems like the CPU moves people up and down from AAA that doesn’t match the roster I’m importing. Completely asinine that I can’t just import a 26 man roster without it randomly adding people to and from the 26 man MLB roster.

Edit: I just tried again! I imported a roster with Sean Bouchard and Jordan Beck on the MLB roster. I start a franchise with said roster and start after spring training. They are somehow both in AAA. Absolutely ridiculous

So it's not a roster released by SDS. If you're simming into the regular season without setting your 40 man roster, and your 26 man roster, then it's doing it for you. That's what it sounds like.

It just doesn’t make sense to me because I’m not even simming through Spring Training, I’m starting right at the regular season since that’s an option they give you. These rosters even have the full 40 man set too so I’m not really sure why it’s changing everything. I’m fine setting my own 26 man at the end of spring and that’s what I did but I really wanted the rest of the rosters to be accurate and I was hoping to avoid that 45-60 min process

They did the first 2 or 3 days ago. Houston has the details in the roster sub-forum.

So, after the last game of spring training, you sent 14 of your 40 man players down to the minors, then leave spring training and start the season? And before you start your franchise you have GM Tasks set to manual? All of those things must be done.

Yeah, I didn't either. Dunno what happened. I saw Houston's roster thread during the weekend and saw what new players were added. Always disappointing we still can't export/import real players (non-caps).

No, there’s an actual option before you start franchise if you want to start in spring training or the regular season. I kept choosing regular season and it would mess with the rosters for no reason. I then started in spring training and then manually fixed my own rosters but all the CPU rosters are wonky I’m sure. I know that can be fixed manually but it would be a lot easier if I could start with the right rosters for the beginning. Oh well.

Always, I’m doing a Rockies rebuild and I won the first game against the Rays 12-10. Was up 12-2 and almost blew it, this bullpen is awful.

What do you guys use for custom game entry? I know a lot here play every pitch but I’d like to get several seasons in and custom game entry is the only way I’ll be able to do it with the time I have.

I'm running custom game entry for my Blue Jays franchise and every pitch with the Reds. For custom game entry setting I have it set to 1st inning, player moments on and 7th inning. At the top I HAD slider bar until over on the right it says runner on 1st 0 out. Since starting my Reds I wanna speed it up more so I now moved it up to when it says runners on 1st and 2nd, 0 outs. It allows you to play a lot still IMO. Only problem is the broadcast is always away team. Can't set lineups or jerseys. But all my updates here have been using the custom game entry every game.

                          2025 Houston Astros 04/28-04/30

                          Overall Record:16-14 (2nd AL West/3.0 behind Seattle)

                          Game Results:

                          Game 1
                          Tigers-10
                          Astros-7

                          Game 2
                          Astros-4
                          Tigers-3

                          Game 3
                          Tigers-4
                          Astros-3

Astros finish April two games over .500, 16-14

Well, over .500 and second place in the division is definitely better than where Houston found themselves last year at this time (10-19). But things could certainly be better. Unfortunately, Houston did end the month on a two series losing streak after they lost two of three to both Kanas City and Detroit. Detroit may have hurt a little more as it was a chance for the Astros to get a little bit of payback from last season's wildcard loss.

Unfortunately, that was not meant to be. Riley Greene was a big reason for the game one loss and he hit three homeruns and tallied four total hits and five rbi's. Spencer Torkelson and Javier Baez also added homeruns of their own.

The Astros tried to fight for it with Christian Walker knocking two balls over the fence as well with Yordan Alvarez and Chas Mccormick added one of their own.

Still, Detroit was able to hold out for the 10-7 victory.

Ronel Blanco was the starter for Houston and had been great up until this game as he gave up eight of the ten Detroit runs...hey on the bright side, he did surpass Gerrit Cole for the top spot in the AL in regards to strikeouts...so theres that.

Of an interesting note, Chas Mccormick who has been below .200 through most of April, was great against Detroit as he tallied four home runs in the series and homered in each game. His two in game two led to the Astros lone win of the series, 4-3. Spencer Arrighetti was good again (6.1/9 H/3 R/6 SO) and Bryan Abreau got the win after Mccormick's second homer of the game walked it off for the Stros.

The same guys were key for both teams in game three. Chas Mccormick's fourth homerun of the series gave the Astros the lead in the second inning and that held until the seventh inning. That was until once again, Riley Greene was responsible for an RBI single that tied the game. The game eventually went into extras where Detroit got to Luis Garcia and Shawn Dubin for a run a piece while the Astros were only able to manage one off of Tyler Holton as Detroit took game three, 4-3 and the series, 2-1.

                          AL West Standings
                          1. Seattle Mariners 19-11
                          2. Houston Astros 16-14
                          3. Los Angeles Angels 14-15
                          4. Texas Rangers 14-17
                          5. Athletics 12-19

                          ** of note

Yordan Alvarez currently leads the AL in homeruns (12), RBI (27) and OPS (1.145).

Jose Altuve started off very slowly but has picked it up toward the end of April

Jake Meyers and Chas Mccormick have largerly been the offensive liabilities there were suspected to be although Mccormick as been better as of late.

Hunter Brown hasnt been good in the 2nd starter slot.

Our pitching staff is currently ranked 28th in the league in ERA (4.70) ahead of only Miami and Washington.

As the calendar flips to May, we travel to Chicago to face the White Sox (7-23/5th AL Central)

Following Thursday's series finale, pitcher Will Vest was placed on the 15-day I.L. with a sore shoulder. Vest will undergo tests, but the injury isn't considered serious. Brenan Hanifee was recalled from Toledo to replace Vest on the roster.

TIGERS SIGN CUBAN DEFECTOR JOSE AGUA

The Tigers have signed 25 year old Cuban 3B/OF Jose Agua. The deal was announced on Tuesday, prior to the team's opening game against the Rockies. Agua is a Cuban defector. He twice hit over .350, with 30 plus home runs, in the Cuban National Series. However, he tore his ACL/MCL early in the 2024 season. Agua defected to the United States in order to get better medical treatment. Agua has yet to resume full baseball activities.

Agua signed a two year, $10 million contract. It's a bit of a risky signing, due to the slower than normal recovery from the knee injury. The Tigers mitigated much of that risk, by including a clause in the contract where the second year is voided if Agua fails to make it to the Majors before the end of 2025, because of the injury.

If healthy, Agua likely would have commanded a much higher salary, with multiple .350, 30 HR seasons in Cuba, as well as showing as a plus defender at both third base, and in the corner outfield. Before the injury, Agua was also a threat on the basepaths, having swiped more than 20 bases 3 times in Cuba. However, the injury likely scared off a majority of suiters, as well as the fact that Agua's power numbers against left handers are significantly lower.

Agua was placed on the I.L. with the Tigers, and will continue his rehab. The hope is that he will be able to begin a rehab assignment before the All Star break.

Man this Rockies club is going to send me the grave lol. Am 10-20. Offense is no issue as I have 40 homers, have stolen 52 and am averaging nearly 5 runs per game. It’s pitching! Through 30 games, team ERA of 6.22. Feel like the Rockies before the humidifier. I have used 8 different starters to no avail. Crazy enough, I do love the challenge. I am going to draft exclusive pitching and bank on hitting on 1 or 2

                                2025 Cleveland Guardians

Guardians get off to a slow start, but manage to avoid a sleep

                                Game 1: L 5-2;
                                Win: Cole Ragans (1-0) 6.0 IP, 3 H, 11 SO, 0 BB, 1 ER
                                Loss: Tanner Bibee (0-1) 5.0 IP, 4 H, 5 SO, 2 BB, 2 ER

Both teams’ offenses got off to a slow start to the season, with the first runs of the game coming in the fifth when Hunter Renfroe hit a two run home run. Kansas City would never give up the lead as they dominated all aspects of the game. Cole Ragans proved his status as the ace of the club by striking out 11 and not giving up a run until Jhonkensy Noel doubled in Jose Ramirez in the sixth. Noel would also account for Cleveland’s only other run when he hit a solo home run in the ninth. By that point KC was comfortably in front, having added three more runs in the seventh.

                                Game 2: L 6-4;
                                Win: Hunter Harvey 2.0 IP, 2 H, 1 SO, 0 BB, 1 ER
                                Loss: Emmanuel Clase 0.1 IP, 3 H, 1 SO, 0 BB, 3 ER

Game two started out with plenty of runs: Jose Ramirez hit his first home run of the year in the first, but KC tied the game in the bottom half and then took the lead in the second. Cleveland would rally with a two run home run from Kyle Manzardo in the third, but Kansas City would tie the game again in the bottom half. That would be the end of the scoring until the ninth inning. Bo Naylor hit a solo home run to give the Guards a late advantage, but Emmanuel Clase would blow his first save attempt by giving up two base hits before Hunter Renfroe walked it off.

Nolan Jones strained a finger diving for a ball in right and will miss 1-6 days.

                                Game 3: W 3-2
                                Win: Gavin Williams (1-0) 5.0 IP, 3 H, 4 SO, 3 BB, 1 ER
                                Loss: Michael Wacha (0-1) 5.0 IP, 6 H, 5 SO, 0 BB, 2 ER

Gavin Williams struggled with command early, but was able to get outs when needed and avoided the big inning. Cleveland’s first run came in the fourth on Jose Ramirez’s second home run in as many days. They would add another run later in the inning when Lane Thomas drove in Kyle Manzardo on a fielder’s choice. The Guardians would get an insurance run in the seventh on Carlos Santana’s RBI single, and Emmanuel Clase would shake off last night’s blown save, with a drama free ninth that included two strikeouts.

Cleveland finished their first series at 1-2, and now travels to San Diego to face the 1-3 Padres.
