Re: Community Day Questions, Answers, and Impressions
Thought it would be asked, but didn't see it...
I have heard how great it looks to see the catcher remove his mask on balls in play, but I'm wondering if we see him put it back on.
Either way, I'm excited they put this animation in"Life is like baseball, it's the number of times you arrive home safely that counts"Comment

Re: Community Day Questions, Answers, and Impressions
I was finally looking forward to the supposed beauty of the Broadcast cam but Nem's comments have resurfaced some of those doubts.
I'm sure the view itself will be spectacular as would be expected w/this dev team...but I don't want fielding to be a challenge based soley on the camera views; the fact I can completely run by the ball b/c I can't judge how close he is makes me seem hesitant about the feature. However, the demo will give me a hands-on taste so I'll assume it's just cold feet.
Again, many thanks for the CD people's honest and forthright comments; I know I won't feel tricked like I had the wool over my eyes when I get my hands on the game as y'awl have told us exactly what to expect.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.
It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment

It's not that it's deceptive in the view....it just takes some getting used to after traditional fielding views.

Re: Community Day Questions, Answers, and Impressions
The main concern I have is that since the balls won't have as much friction as in years past and will roll to the wall, down the line, etc. then the importance of taking the right line & getting to it quicker is magnified...
I just don't want to be frustrated in that I can't judge if the fielder is taking the correct angle only to miss the ball entirely b/c of the broadcast cam. Sometimes in MLB '09 it was my fault as I was overly aggressive but going off of what Nem was saying the camera was taking away his aggression to cut the ball off.
...of course that prudence could just be Nem's personality.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.

Re: Community Day Questions, Answers, and Impressions
Thanks to all of you who participated in CD and for relaying the information. I cannot wait for March 2nd. I think I'm going to play using Knight's roster this year. I have a feeling I missed out last year using the scea updates.Comment

Re: Community Day Questions, Answers, and Impressions
Did any of the CDs happen to notice if, when a line drive is hit to the left or right of an outfielder, did the fielder overrun the ball like they do almost every time in 09? he makes the catch, but he runs a little past the spot where the ball is landing and has to reach back to make the play. i would really like to see this fixed, because it is not realistic at all to happen every time and it starts to look horrible after a while.Comment

If they took AUTO FIELD out, which they won't, I would not have any concerns about this if I had to do everything manually. It's just going to take some practice.
I can only give advice to guys to NOT start a franchise until they've done some learning for this new edition.Comment

Actually I was referring to on the big screens or any overlays (the put in slugging % instead). In 09 OBP didn't seem to get much love at all although it is a key stat in the gameComment

Re: Community Day Questions, Answers, and Impressions
Knight - I've searched this thread for Disabled List and DL info and haven't found anything, so here goes;
Were you able to verify if the DL works correctly this year; noting that last year you could place a ML player on the DL and call up a AAA player to cover him and a AA player to cover the AAA player - but then you couldn't sign someone to take the AA players place?
Also, if I set a team's batting lineup and then hand control back to the CPU, will it mess with the lineup (like last year when we saw Helton batting leadoff) or will it only make minor moves based on who's hot, who's slumping, etc.?Comment
