Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread

How an at bat is weighed is a bit wonky at times, but I think it does an adequate job. Basically it seems to weigh 3 main factors: 1. How deep you push the count, 2. How well you time/hit the ball, and 3. The result of the play.

I like the system. I do agree that mashing a 1st pitch fastball over the wall or into a gap should considered good, maybe even great, but it IS better to mash the 4th or 5th pitch of an at bat, and there should be some difference in how they are rewarded.

Bunting in a run without the manager putting something on is a hazy situation. Sure, if you beat it out and the run scores, the result ends up being pretty good. On the other hand, the runner at third isn't in the know and may fail to break or get a bad read. Alot of guys might get the green light to lay one down, but I would think most managers would ask their guys not to fly by night with a runner in scoring position.

The other spot you're talking about is just a "good" at bat. Inside the park home runs don't occur because the hitter did something great, they occur because the defense did something wrong... Essentially, it sounds like you hit a fly ball that very nearly got caught and you lucked up and got all they way in on it. It'd be different if you hammered it off the wall and it was a no-doubt triple that turned into something.. Then you're scoring mostly by your own merit.

Well, I've come to realize that ignoring the hit and run while on base is the route I'll be going. My teammates never put the ball in play, and I get benched every two times that happens because my guy is slow.

Ignoring it didn't even get an email about missing a sign.

Actually I did hammer it off the wall, twice now actually. 28 game hit streak about to end 0-4 and I crush it off the wall for my second Inside the park HR and keep my streak which is at 30 games now.

            Hitting .325
            14 HR
            42 RBIs

Quick question about the six seasons of service needed before entering free agency. Does it need to be six full seasons in MLB? Or does the year where I played four games in AAA before called up count as the first year?

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread

In my 2nd season and just been promoted to AAA. I'll give a recap of my career so far. Drafted by the Rangers. I'm a Left Fielder trying to be like Ryan Braun. An all rounder.

Got off to a great start. My first game i got a HR off my 1st at bat and a HR off my 2nd at bat then a double off my third lol. First season was successful with a .328 avg and 12 HR. Got traded to the giants in my 1st season for Andre Torres. I was quite humbled that i was traded in a 1 on 1 trade for a MLB started haha. Was promoted to AAA right at the end due to an injury. a .268 avg with 4 hits and 4 rbi.

I realised today i've been simming too much. So i'm playing more games and have been promoted in the 2nd month of my 2nd season. Starting to really progress ratings wise now. Need to improve my speed cause its costing me at LF. Its only at 45 now. Want to start making those plays which are 50/50.

You would still be a rookie in the next year because you only played 4 games in that first year. So yes, you need six full accredited seasons to go into free agency.

It doesn't. Just hurts your stats if they aren't very good.

This is inaccurate, simming does hurt your progress. I average 80 points a game playing and regardless of what stats i put up simming (multi HR games, 4 walks etc) I never come close to that average in points.

I was in the A's organization in AA. They sucked. Out of curiosity I asked for a trade. It took a few weeks but they traded me to the CUBS!!! Straight up for Aramis Ramirez lol. I'm in AA Tennessee playing for the Smokies. AWESOME. I'm batting like .480 with 10 HRs and 35+RBIs where I was a part time player for a while. This is the first year I've gotten into RTTS and I must admit I've missed out.

Actually I played about 30 games for the Cubs in MLB that year when I got called up. So I guess, in my third year now, if I go look at my status and it still says rookie, then I'll need 5 more years, sound correct?

Has anyone noticed how (with new baserunning) you can't "steal" when there is a man in front of you on the bases? This is a problem when you have a full count, 2 out situation and even though the guy ahead (and sometimes the guy behind if the bases are loaded) start running on the pitch the game will not let you move until the pitch is done. I have switched to old baserunning in the hopes that it is not the same issue on that setting but the situation hasn't arisen yet. If anyone knows a workaround or is seeing different results please let me know.

So I finished up my first full season in RTTS and am now in May 2012. The second half of 2011 I kept being shuttled between bench player and utility man in AAA. I did make AAA starter by the end of 2011 though. I have to say the Reds offseason was pretty bad. They traded Johnny Cueto for a veteran pitcher and let Homer Bailey enter FA. I started 2011 back at Carolina, but only took a month to make it back to AAA. The challenge now will be to be made a AAA starter.

Just got called up to the Mud Hens after 58 games in AA where I lead the EL with a .357 BA, 17 HR, 64 RBIs. I killed RHPs Compared to LHPs, hit 15 HR and 55 of my RBIs against RHPs. In AA we were second in the division and the best offensive team.
