Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread

After the 6 years the league is totally diff.

My season with astros is going awesome. Leading the division with a tight race with the cards.

I have 66 hrs with sept to go, trying so hard to beat bonds because I dont see this year being done again.

After this year will prob sign with astros long term but I wanna see the $$ to!

Funny thing is I am shown in the RBI list????

It does say in the batting average list 'To qualify as a league leader, a batter must have 3.1 plate appearances per team games played'. I've been a starter pretty much since day one and would say I get 3 plate appearances per game, how can I find out if I qualify? Is there a stat somewhere???
If the Reds' AA team is in a different league than Boston's AA team, you probably won't have accumulated enough PA in the new league to qualify. That's one possibility. The other would be to check your TPA stat in the Locker Room and divide it by the total number of team games and see if that's at least 3.1.

Sorry if this has been asked already. I hate being "that guy". But ive searched through this thread and nothing found. Anways, when asking your manager to change positions, does that change your primary position for good? How does it work? Ive NEVER been granted the ability to change so i have no idea. Thanks in advance!

I've had this game for a while. How do you make a good closer?

            Lineup decisions in RTTS

I'm playing a RTTS as a speedy SS. Fairly early (early June) into my first season in AA. My ratings aren't very good yet (contact in high 30s, power in high 20s) but my stats are good so far (hitting around .350 w/ 1 HR, 15-20 RBI, 4 SB). I had been hitting in the 7 or 8 spot and asked to be moved up in the lineup, hoping to get the chance to lead off, but I was put in the 5 spot. I thought 5 was typically a RBI/power spot and I have very little power. The guys at the top of the llineup now are hitting well, so I guess that's why I wasn't moved higher, but I would have expected to just be kept at the bottom of the order rather than put in a RBI spot.
Anyone else have any strange lineup decisions w/ RTTS?

              Re: Lineup decisions in RTTS

The lineup logic is a little weird. In my RTTS I started with the braves as a CF and always batted leadoff. I was traded to the rays and I have batted first 2nd 5th 6th etc. so maybe each team has a different strategy. also keep in mind that in AA ball probably not every team has a more than one power guy. so they may want a high average in the 5th spot. who knows lol.

Who did you get traded for?

                  CPU Hitting in RTTS

I am a guy who plays RTTS with "Result Play" on. But it seems to me that no matter what team it is that I am going against, as soon as my team gets the lead, right away (next inning) the CPU makes their run and just start hitting everything and anything thrown at them. I don't know what to do, I was wondering if I could get help because this is very frustrating. This has happened every single game I've played. They would either come back and win it or just tied it. I've had Francisco Cordero blow about 8 saves already and 3 of them were games where I was up by 3 or more runs and the CPU still came back to win.

He says that whenever a ball is hit to him in the air, his RTTS player ALWAYS takes two steps in, instead of the CORRECT action and that is to take a step or two BACKWARDS. Is this the case with everyone else who has an outfielder RTTS? (He rented it from GameFly because he didn't have the money to buy it at the time)
The outfielders don't take that step in anymore by themselves.

Is this something that was addressed in the recent patch that was pushed out yesterday? My friend doesn't have internet at the moment so he doesn't have the patch yet.

(2B/SS still in the A's farm system) Well I'm hitting much better (could be the new "TheShow PS3 Controller" I just bought), I am however getting fed up with my warning track power. I've hit 2 homeruns this season and about 15-20 fly balls that died at the warning track. Guess I gotta hit the gym!

It doesn't do it in the pre-patch game. It won't take that step backwards for you either, you player stands still in the outfield until you move him. So if he rented it from Gamefly and he says it happens in this year's game, I don't know what to tell him. I've played a season with my RTTS CF and that doesn't happen. Maybe he had the fielding assist option turned on in the settings.

Mah GAWD what a tear I went on in August. Almost single-handidly willed my team to a playoff spot. If you remember this post:

                            1. Akron
                            2. Eerie (2.0 GB)
                            3. Richmond (3.0 GB)
                            4. Someone else (3.0 GB)

Akron just came in and took 3/4 from us at home, and now we've got a 4 game series with Richmond, and then another 4 against Akron to wrap up the season series(es?) with both of those teams. Needless to say the next 8 games are absolutely gigantic for my team's playoff hopes. I really want to get me some playoff XP.
Well, Richmond we split the series, and Akron took 3/4 from us (again), so it wasn't looking good. After battling all the way back from being down 8 games, we were in 3rd place with a month to go.

I proceeded to go on a 21 game hit streak, with around 9 homeruns and I don't even know how many RBI. I was 4th in the league in RBI when it started, I ended up finishing 1st in RBI. I brought my average up to .315 after it being in the high .270s/low.280s.

I had multiple 4-5 games, including one where I had a HR, a Triple, and 6 RBIs. It was crazy, they just kept coming back and coming back. I thought I hit the Game Winner in the 9th when I singled in the go ahead run, only for them to come back and tie it. I came up with a runner on in the 10th, and said "Am I going to have to do it again?" Bam, two run homer. Another I had a HR and 4 RBI's. Insane.

I ended up finishing 5th in Batting Average with .315, 2nd in HRs with 18, and 1st in RBI with 86. I would've had more RBI, but the guy hitting in front of me was the only guy in the league with more home runs than me, lol. Plus I played like 22 less games than everyone else. Our pitching sucks ***, but our offense is absolutely lethal. Looking forward to the playoffs, 1st round is against Akron. This is all in my first year in AA.

I Just made got the game from RedBox, so far it looks pretty awesome.

I got right to work and made my SS/3B I have more of a balanced guy, hoping to develop the power as I go.

It's taking me awhile to get used to hitting with the analog stick. I usually get fooled badly on breaking balls. Sorta like chasing butterflies with a garden hose.

I've played 5 games so far and my stats are:

                              14 AB .286AVG 4H 1R 1HR 1 RBI 2SO and .500SLG

Hopefully, i'll improve as i get used to the game.

My main problem is when I make contact it's usually weak contact that goes foul, is that normal for rookies in RTTS or is it a part of the new analog system?

Wow...that's really, really bad. I'm not restarting my RTTS but that needs to be fixed. Along with the insane trades. My team, Detroit (though I'm still in AA) had a firesale at the deadline because they were 8 games out. Traded Guillen, Magglio, Valverde all for good or very good prospects. That was realistic because I'm pretty sure all those guys had 1 year left on their deals. That's where the realism ends, unfortunately.

The Red Sox traded for Jose Reyes, when they have Iglesias all ready to come up. Pretty sure they gave up Jacoby Ellsbury and Daniel Bard for him, too. Reyes is a great player, but why would they trade for him when they have Iglesias who is hitting incredibly well in AA, made 1 error ALL YEAR (I checked the stats), and is A potential? And they gave up two of their best young players for him! There were a couple of other wonky trades I saw, I can't reacall them exactly but I just remember looking at them like
