Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread

At the last two, I wish I had HR numbers like that. In 260 or so at bats I only have 6 and I have pretty high power ratings. (I only had 5 the previous year in 240 at-bats).

Also, don't pay attention to the description of the ratings in your "scouting report". There have been some power hitters in year's past who were given that "Above average, less then 25 HR" description who have hit 30 or more.

Started up my RTTS a few nights ago. Got drafted by the Red Sox. I started out with a solid game going 3-4 with 2 rbi's. Now I'm in a major slump batting .133 on the year. I always seem to ground out. Only have 2 SO on the year so its been very frustrating.

Oh, I know players can exceed there potential but I just want to make sure that my numbers will even out. I made a power right fielder in last years game and it seemed every hit was a hr and was exceeding his potential. I know it seems weird to be complaining about hitting to many hr's but I want my guy to be realistic.

Im trapped on the cubs. I was brought up, and started at 2B for the month of septmeber. Now it's 2012 and all I get are spot starts every 5-6 days with PH opportunities here and there. My numbers are better then the current starting SS and 2B but they wont make me the starter. Soon I'll be requesting a trade but it wont do any good.

RTTS Pitcher: Hot and Cold Zone question

I have the hot and cold zones checked "On" and I am an RTTS pitcher. I thought that the way this was supposed to work was that I would get a view of the current batter's overall hot and cold zones. However, the only hot and cold zone view I can find is when I am facing the batter, hit "Select" then R1 to select the batter's info then the square button. I then get a hot and cold zone indicator, but it appears to only relate to the batter's experience in the current game. For example, if it is his first at bat, everything is blank. If he gets a hit during the game, that zone appears red in this view.

Is this the way this is supposed to work? Is there no way to view a batter's current hot and cold zones that represents the last few games?

RTTS Pitcher - question on view during the game

I use the pitcher view while pitching in my RTTS career. Is there any way that I can, while on the mound, take a look at the field behind and around me? I'd like to see where the outfielders and infielders are playing and make sure I'm not, for example, pitching a batter to make him hit away from where the fielders are playing him.

                Thanks.

Re: RTTS Pitcher - question on view during the game

Sometimes I want to punch this game in the face!!! I finished my second season in AA ball and ended up with decent numbers. My batting avg. was about .320, 25 doubles, led the league with 7 triples, 7 home runs, 54 RBI's and 30+ runs scored. I get a contract offer from my club and sign a 1 yr $87,000 contract. Right before the season I am informed that I am being promoted to AAA for a bench role. I think o.k., but I really enjoyed playing everyday and building my stats.

Well right before my first game I get demoted back to AA, but as a bench player. I'm not sure why I was demoted and my ratings are clearly better than any one else in AA. Sometimes I wish I had the "tell the skipper what you really think" interaction option. I guess my skipper just doesn't like me. Must be because I'm a redhead.

Ahhh gingerism! Your coach needs to go through some sensitivity training. Same thing happened to me, better numbers than the other players at my positions and I'm still on the bench. They've got till the end of the month then I'm demanding a trade!! But then they won't trade me.

Why so many bunts? I play third and first and the amount of bunts is crazy...not to mention stupid....or the fact that I can never make a play on them anyway because 75% of them are popped up to the catcher.

Opposing team up by eight and they are bunting... and even power guys like Mauer, Howard, and Holliday are laying them down. Dumb dumb dumb.

I've been playing RTTS since '08, and this has never been addressed.

Two strikes, two outs, the bases loaded and we are down by four? Hey, I got an idea. Kemp, why don't you try and lay one down?

started my RTTS last week and got drafted by Oakland. i primarily play 3B but can play 2B or SS. anyhow, around May with AA Midland i'm up to a 22 game hitting streak and i'm crushing it, but then i make a dive on a grounder (miss it) and then break my hand so i'm placed on the 60-day DL.

midway through July, i'm back in the lineup and i'm able to extend the streak to 25 games when suddenly i'm traded with Joey Devine to Tampa Bay for James Shields and some other guy! i was able to save before the trade and i keep restarting at that point but i'm always being traded to the Rays for some reason. i think it sucks because even if i get to the bigs i'm blocked by Evan Longoria and will have to try to get playing time at SS or 2B.

hit streak is now up to 27 games, btw.

I usually get only a couple of steps towards 2nd before the catcher throws the ball. My player will freeze and catch the ball, but I will be nowhere near 2nd base to make the tag. Any tips? Am I just too slow in reacting to the runner breaking for 2nd?

I started a career as a SS as well, but haven't encountered my player freezing on the way to the bag. I'd make sure to be aware of the arrows guiding you towards second as the runner breaks for 2nd. I've definitely gotten there late and not even attempted a tag. But usually I'm in position to make the play on a steal. I think it may just be a case of getting an early enough break to the bag. Hopefully that works for you.

I've got a quick question as I'm new to the franchise.

I started a career as a CP and right now I'm a set-up man for the closer for Toronto's AA club. My question is, does the option to not warm up affect your performance? The reason I ask is I notice my 'ready' bar increasing as I take warm-up tosses, but the one time I bypassed it, I was not very effective and gave up 2 runs! Could have been a coincidence, but now that I've got a 12 inn. scoreless streak going, I'm not going to tempt fate!

Yeah, I had the same problem - you have to break to the bag as soon as the arrow prompts appear at your feet (usually as the pitcher is releasing the ball). If you aren't at the bag fast enough, you aren't going to get the ball fast enough to make a tag.

It took me 3 or 4 tries to even figure out I didn't have to do anything to make the tag, I just had to get there sooner.
