Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread

I created a LF that got drafted by the Mets. Not my first choice but might be kind of cool because I do a lot of franchises but I have never done one withe the Mets. Going to make my guy a power/speed guy with great fielding. I am not worried about contact as much but will increase it eventually.

i play all of my games because they go by a lot quicker than if you were playing a franchise 9 inning game

(i play with no baserunning because it drives me insane. that makes my game go by quicker)

Well i just finished up my first year with my shortstop. I gained 4 points overal, not bad for going on the dl for 2 months. I just signed a contract for the AAA bench.

Finished another year with the Reds. My RF finished .265 31HR 96RBI and 17SB. I was the starting RF in the All-Star game. Since that was my 6th year in the bigs, I was a FA. Didnt get great offers in the offseason, so I tried out for the Tigers in ST and got a 5 year deal with them.

The one thing I hated about the Reds is that they never offered me a contract during my arbitration years. They just offered me arbitration straight up.

play every game, make sure you pass your advancement goals, make sure you have enough points for the next set of advancement goals, don't let any of your attributes start decreasing. i know it can be slow especially when youre in the minors but it pays off, i'd rather have a B overall starting in the majors than have a C or D playing on the bench for a couple years.

started up a new rrts last night based on the cardinals prospect shelby miller. his 4 seam velocity is maxed out and he has a nasty slider and curveball. asked my coach for a start through interactions, pitched 6 innings gave up 4 hits, struck out 7. not a bad day at the office. he's leading AA in strikeouts he was averaging 2 k's an inning in the bullpen.

I can't take more of this insanity. It's September 1st and Miguel Montero is *STILL* batting 3rd in this Rockies line-up. I am getting no RBI opportunities. Montero has the worst OPS (.653) and batting average (.219) of ALL position players on the MLB roster. The game continues to have him bat 3rd, as he has since I got traded to the Rockies. SCEA, the way you programmed the game to manage is awful. Have a nice day.

My batting average has improved since the last time I posted. I'm hitting: .273 with 24 HR's and 74 RBI's in August of 2016 with the Tigers. My team is still in last place as usua,l 22 games back from the 1st place White Sox and Royals.

After going 0 for 3 with 3 Ks against Graham Stoneburner, who came within 1 out of a perfect game against my White Sox, and 0 for 5 with 3Ks against the Twins, it might be time to end my hitter's career in his second year.

I'm extremely uncomfortable with the number of Ks and not guessing a single pitch right in 10 straight games, and I'm on rookie level. Nothing seems to work to substitute Ks with hits.

So you're already called up in your second year? Sounds like you are doing well, I'm not sure why you would want to end it. Sounds like you're in a slump. It's fusturating but I wouldn't end my RTTS for that.

Second season in the majors, 4th overall.

I figured pitchers would have some sort of pattern, but they just throw whatever, whereever. I can't figure out patterns, no matter the pitcher. One pitch is low and away, then they go up and in with a breaking ball. I can't sit on anything. Plus like I said, I can't guess a pitch. It's almost I'm selecting their pitches. If I think they'll go up with a fastball on a 2-0 count, they always throw a breaking pitch.

Are you guessing the pitch every pitch? That's what I did in '09, and it worked fine, but it seems to me like the PCI penalty has more of an effect in '11 if you guess the pitch wrong. This year, I just practiced a bunch, and adopted the "see ball, hit ball" philosophy, only guessing fastballs on fastball counts (2-0, 3-1). Analog hitting has helped me a great deal in this sense. In the past, with the traditional hitting, I found that I'd do fine if I guessed fastball up every pitch, and then I'd at least know if I guessed incorrectly to slow the swing down, and that it'd be mid to low in the zone. With analog, I can just pull back and react. Really like that much better this year.

But yeah, it's tough for sure. Best I could tell you is if you're guessing every pitch, try to only guess in fastball counts (if at all). May not make a huge difference, but it should help some, as your PCI won't be as small.
