Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

I decided to restart my Mets franchise cause I wanted up to date rosters. So my first 3 games 0-3 to the Marlins. They scored 3 runs in all 3 games, in the first inning. Stanton homered and so did Hanley. My first inning was shaking in every game and yet I struck out 8 with Santana game one and 5 with Pelfery game two. Young was terrible game 3 and I pulled him fast.

I finally made a move breaking my "anti change barrier" i made for myself because I love the Mets. I signed Jeff Weaver to a two year deal. I no he's no stud but my pitching worries me and having another vet that might help me later incase I trade Pelfrey.

I lost Reyes game one to strained shoulder he's out 6 games then Beltran gets hurt sore groin he's out six games.

haha My Rule was 1 change maximum for the Pitching and for the Batting

I picked Romero of the Jays because I needed a lefty in the pen and Russel martin is my back-up C because he's from QC like me.

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

After both Lynn and Walters failed at being my 5th starter, I decided to look for a trade opportunity. I ended up trading Freese to KC for Luke Hochevar. He's struggled in the AL, but I'm hoping a switch to the NL will help him out a bit. Freese can only play 3rd, and I have Rolen locked up there for the next 3 seasons, so he became expendable.

I opened a series in Chicago against the Cubs, and chased Jonathan Sanchez from the game after 2 innings and 6 runs. Westbrook was on, pitching a 1 hit shutout through 5 innings. He hit a wall in the 6th, giving up 3 runs in the inning. Kinney gave up 2 runs in the 7th, and ended up getting sent back to AAA for the second time already this season. He most likely won't be back up. Motte gave up a long home run to Byrd in the 8th as the Cubs came all the way back to tie it at 6.

I had two runners thrown out at home in the 10th. For some reason Kotsay stopped after he rounded 3rd on a Brignac double, and by the time I got him to go again, he was thrown out at home. In the bottom of the 10th, the Cubs loaded the bases against Calero, and scored the winning run on a Mitch Hoffpaur single. This was the most painful loss of the season so far. After losing 3 games in a row, we're now 17-13 and 1/2 game behind the Cubs for first place.

Today's tip of the day: do not partake in gaming after watching a devastating playoff loss.

I decided to play some MLB after watching my Knicks lose another heartbreaker and managed to have one of my own. Thanks to some of the worst hitting with RISP in my MLB history, my game with the Rockies went 14 SCORELESS innings. Izzy gave up a bomb to Helton in the top of 14th and i blew it in bottom of 14.

I got the first two runners on and then Street shut me down, I swung at pitches I had no business swinging. I turned into Frenchy in every AB.

So i've now been shutout my last 25 innings. Yikes.

And that's why I now have my current post sig. Care of a fellow in the NBA 2k forums here at OS. I've always felt like this, but I think it was time I got the message out.

EDIT: and since it's been 100+ years of frustration, I think I'm allowed to play the "unrealistic" card with my team, as it just might take those unrealistic moves to actually win!!! :P anyways, back to your regularly scheduled thread.

Injuries are killing me in my Giants franchise.

I'm about 40 games in and I posted earlier that I lost Lincecum for 6 months on opening day (he pitched 5.2 innings). I replaced him with Ben Sheets off the FA list and lost him in his 3rd start for 2-3 months.

Last night I lost Buster Posey for 2-3 months as well.

                Dayum!

As the Rangers we went 10-17 in April. Struggling bad. At one point we had lost 12 of 14 games.

Then comes May. We have gone 18-2. With an 8 game winning streak and now we are riding a 9 game streak. Sitting at 28-19 and a 6 game lead over the A's.

Crazy thing in my Franchise... I just played my 6th straight extra inning game! (7th straight 1-run game) Good news is I'm 5-1 in those games... 2 of them I came back in the 8th and 9th innings. Cabrera has been too clutch.

Just blew 2 saves in a row with Papelbon. Yankees took 2/3 from me at home. One of them I had a 2 run lead, too. I'm never putting him in a save situation again.

Just swept the Halos to improve to 8-7 with the White Sox.

I played against Kazmir in the last game. He had a no-hitter entering the 7th (despite 9 walks !) that I broke with a solo shot by Castro to tie it to 1-1.
And then I managed to put 3 runs in the 8th to win it. (4 hits 4 runs )

Finished my opening road trip with a 3-3 record. Should've been 4-2 but I somehow managed to blow a 9-2 lead against the Phillies and lost 10-9 when Chae Utley hit a walk-off 3-run HR off K-Rod

That's 2 blown saves already for Mr. Rodriguez.

Playing in Citizens Bank Park was crazy; both teams hit over .300 for the series and the fewest runs scored on either side in any of the 3 games was 7.

Back in NY now and halfway through the Citi Field opener and Jason Marquis is pitching a 2-hit shuout.
