Re: No Copying of Saved Game Files Kills Me...

Truly sucks for those who do share franchise files. How convienent they come up with a workaround with the cloud saves (not sure what that means, I'm guessing it's just data backed up via the internet and not from a physical device like a USB) that will cost you money (by becoming a PS+ member). Oh, how convienent it all is. Take away features we had before, then give them back to you... for a price.

And you wonder why people go to alternative measures. Because some of the restrictions they put in out of the blue are crippling. But they'd get in trouble if they were ever figured out. Sickens me, slightly.

Anyway, rant aside, my question is this: does this affect Season Mode as well? I had MLB 09, and there was no Playoffs Mode. But users here simmed the season in Season Mode, got all the right playoff matchups, then posted the Season Mode save file. I don't believe there's a Playoff Mode yet, so I'd like to do this (or at least have the option to) again this year. Possible or not?

Shoot..With 2 kids and still on the phat PS3, i got into the habit of backing up my franchise file to my USB drive just in case. I think i might just get a PS3 slim and go with that. Probably a lot more reliable than my Phat PS3 at this point.

This is the dilemma I am in right now. Minus the kids, lol. Though my cats are like kids.

Taking away features that existed before should be the new slogan for PS3. Outside of this game, I'll be spending more time with my PC and 360. This system is going in the wrong direction.

            How do you figure?

Not every save is copy protected. Very few are actually. And there are also non copy saves for some games on the 360 too.

            Same thing on both systems.

I'm sure it will, it's all tied to your account not your physical system.

I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Removing features at the rate of 1 downgrade per hour. Those updates take forever and a day. I love my 360 and really wish that THE SHOW was somehow on 360 instead.

Some people actually used the OtherOS functionality.

There are only certain saves that I care enough about to copy, which is why I have no idea what 360 games enforce that practice. If I'm years into a franchise, I want to copy it somewhere else. The fact that I can't backup my data easily is laughable. It's 2011. We should be able to backup data we've created.

I will say this though. As I said in the Playstation thread. This all smells of PS3/NGP cross functionality. Ala take your MLB the Show game on the road with your NGP and vice/versa. Now that would be something many of us have asked for for along time.

I understand that. I am not disputing that.

But you pointed the finger as if it is a Sony only thing, then mention 360 in the light, when the 360 and MSFT are masters of no freedom of content on that box. Especially when it comes to media you own. And have games which they do the very same thing.

If you become a PSN Plus subscriber you will be able to save your save files to the PSN servers and be able to play them on other systems. Hopefully this applies to copy protected files too.

This should be available tonight or tomorrow when the next firmware update hits.

Those sneaky devils. That is how they knew they would get me jump on board, to enjoy this with the digital crack The Show, and now enjoy the other nice features PS+ has to offer.

You're right I was. I think that's a product of having the PS3 longer and watching how things are changing.

The thing is that I'm not an "I want freedom" type of guy. I don't care about having an "open system". I don't care that we're not allowed to open our systems up and modify/hack them. I just think the change of heart regarding franchise save files from 2010 to 2011 is crazy. I lost a hard drive last year, but, thankfully, I had all of my The Show files backed up on my RAID array (I know that's a bit much, but I didn't create it for saving game files).

I don't know the reason for locking down the save file. Maybe it had something to do with DLC or exploits, but I hope it wasn't done to get more people to become Plus members.
