Simmed to the offseason and saw all sorts of problems-no way to change scouts, no way to fire coaches, and I've got issues with transportation. Anyone got any suggestions on these, I'm all ears. Otherwise, I may skip franchise mode this year.

Re: Franchise Issues
Just wondering something outloud.....but, what if, when using 30 team control, the user just went in and renewed the contracts of these A and B potential players in the offseason when that period arises (I know this would take some time, but isn't the offseason SUPPOSED to be a bit of a tedious endeavor?) If the problem is the "cpu" non-tendering these players, then them sitting in Free Agency, then the easiest fix for now, would be to override the "cpu and tender them
However, it takes a lot of time.Comment

Re: Franchise Issues
IN SEASON
Go to VIEW STAFF
SCOUTS....
Choose the location you want to hire for and simply hire the scout you want....he will replace your current scout. No negotiations.
For managers and coaches...
In the OFF SEASON...
SCHEDULE screen...
HIRE COACHES(it should read HIRE/FIRE coaches I guess)
On the actual screen to hire a manager coach hit SQUARE...it brings you to YOUR manager/coach screen...
Hit X to fire after highlighting.
What's the beef with transportation?

Re: Franchise Issues
How about Adrian G? Was he still on the Sox?
Any contract info for him? I haven't even looked yet to see what year (in the game) he hits FA'cy...
Just wondering if, in that sim you showed, Boston was bidding for Prince as a 1b or strictly a DH.Comment

Transportation has always annoyed me. Every MLB team should have a chartered flight. Period.Comment

Re: Franchise Issues
Random other big issue I just came across when simming (not sure if noted already). Some teams just choose not to tender contracts to players. I see Heyward, Hanson, Axford, Brignac, Bailey, Holland, Arencibia, Borbon, Conger and Saunders in the FA pool come December 3rd.

This is a great example of why having 30 team control is essential. In Heyward's case, i would just take control of the Braves and sign him to a decent contract. If there are any other teams offering him anything, i retract the offers.
BAM, no more problems.NFL - Denver Broncos
NCAAF - Boise State Broncos
Champions Indoor Football - Sioux City Bandits 9-2
MLB - Toronto Blue Jays 56-45
NHL - Colorado Avalanche 2022 STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS

I did that once but had to do it literally every day. Very tedious but worth it in my mind.Comment

Re: Franchise Issues
One thing I already like is the budget restraints I have. I released Derek Lowe and Chipper Jones in spring training, resigned them to more expensive contracts a few days later and just like that I have payroll restraints and it's going to be hard to take on added salary in the next few years unless I get an increase in payroll.Comment

Re: Franchise Issues
I don't have the game in front of me atm but is it possible to play franchise mode by taking out all of the financial stuff and basically going back to reserve clause baseball and improving your team via trades and the draft?
I'd do that in a second rather than manually controlling 30 teams, using multiple profiles and worrying about an AI that can't seem to play its own game in terms of managing budgets and signing players.Co-Founder - No High Scores

So while this may not "break the game", as a Franchise guy, it is definitely a "gamebreaking" issue. This is my first experience with The Show (just got a PS3 on Black Friday) and was one of the main reasons (along with Uncharted and God of War) I shelled out the cash for the system. And so far I think the game is amazing. But seeing as how Franchise mode is really the only thing I care about, this is a tough pill to swallow. In reading through this and other threads I notice there are "workarounds" and such but... I'm not trying to invest any extra time into "fixing" things that, in all honesty, are fundamental and should not need to be fixed. I shouldn't have to control all 30 teams as is suggested to have a semi-realistic franchise experience. Nor should I have to purposely stunt prospect growth in order to stop them from blossoming into good and, in turn, more expensive players.
Please, devs, please... you need to fix these issues. They may seem superficial and they may not be the most important to everybody but I assure you they are important to a lot of us.Comment
