Re: Franchise Issues
Right, but player progression (training as well) isn't going to change from one mode to the next. The only difference is you train yourself and not the team. Also I may be mistaken, but you can't turn training off in RttS, correct?Comment

Re: Franchise Issues
That is absolutly correct, so you will run into the same problems as in franchise..:wink:Comment

Re: Franchise Issues
So if I control all 30 teams and play Commish, Im fine?
All of the features work its just the AI not using them right?
Any sim stats bugs I need to know about?
What are the "30 team" house rules/workarounds? I pretty much enjoy controlling every team in sports games, no CPU AI (as of yet) is better than my brain and opinion.Last edited by Jukeman; 03-10-2011, 08:59 PM.Comment

Re: Franchise Issues
I don't have the game in front of me atm but is it possible to play franchise mode by taking out all of the financial stuff and basically going back to reserve clause baseball and improving your team via trades and the draft?
I'd do that in a second rather than manually controlling 30 teams, using multiple profiles and worrying about an AI that can't seem to play its own game in terms of managing budgets and signing players.
Bill,
To be honest with you, if I remember correctly, Knight and I ran tests last year with budgets set to "off" or whatever the setting is called. The results were essentially the same. I am not sure if that feature really works or not.

If you do 30 team...budgets off...you will be able to sign guys as needed....The only house rules I use is my own little set of team budgets.
tb;
I think you're right...in the sense the CPU doesn't take budgets off as spend whatever it takes. I don't know why...I guess that would mean a different set of GM AI codes.
I'm hopeful for the patch for this year.....
But I'm really hoping they just rip the guts out of franchise for '12 and put an all out blitz on it.

Not like this group not to at least make an honest attempt, or at very least tell us its not possible.Comment

Re: Franchise Issues
Trust me...Kolbe has NO PROBLEM saying..."easy fix"..."yep..we can do it with a little work" or ..."no way, no how".....
The guys saying that the "massively improved" thread was an underhanded attempt to scam 60 bucks from them is beyond comical. That make ZERO sense. But this is the internet and methinks a couple of those guys are the scammers themselves.
My point being...if they can fix it through a patch...I'm sure they will. You have been in contact and know how much it's burning Kolbe up right now.

Re: Franchise Issues
I have only limited contact with the devs the last couple years, BUT from every time I have had any communication they have been upfront and receptive. They want this game MORE perfect than we do, it's their baby. Ramone always says under promise over deliver, so when people refer to the "thread" they have to understand that he meant what he said I am sure it was correct there.

Excuse me, but when games are $60 or so, the economy the way it is, features that were promised free of glitches especially when they were apparent in last years game... You don't like the use of, "Being lied to."?Comment

Re: Franchise Issues
No sarcasm meant by this. Serious question:
What in the world happened to the quality control position that the SCEA team posted after last years problems? Does anybody remember this? It was an actual job posted to hardcore baseball fans/gamers to apply and ensure that franchise mode was working like it's real life counterpart. Perhaps following through on that would help prevent these problems. You know, hire someone with a REAL understanding of MLB roster and contract logic. No offense to the devs, and I'm sure they're huge baseball fans. But, they're primary focus is code. I wonder how well they do understand application of contract issues into a GM's mindset.Comment
