Not necessarily. At this time last year if you would have simmed through and the Giants won what would you have said....However, if you sim it 10 more times and it happens again...then maybe. I like having the variety that anything can happen...because the O's have maybe a 1/10 chance of winning it all in real life (maybe more like 1/250, but you get what I am saying).

Sadly, little glitches and bugs in all sports games are a way of life this gen. However, if this "bug" is the worst one that I have to come across this year then, this is a great year.

Random other big issue I just came across when simming (not sure if noted already). Some teams just choose not to tender contracts to players. I see Heyward, Hanson, Axford, Brignac, Bailey, Holland, Arencibia, Borbon, Conger and Saunders in the FA pool come December 3rd.

            @treyraq

Sure, SCEA could release a bug free game if they REALLY wanted to. But since that would take a ridiculous amount of resources to dig up and fix every single bug, there would be no new features, and you guys would rip it for being stale and the same game as last year.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

If you see bugs, report them in the thread and they will likely be fixed. Then move on and enjoy this great game.

+1 bud! I agree with you. This game is a great baseball game. The franchise mode bug is not a game killer by any means. I'm sure something will be done about it in the coming days. Go play the MLB 2K series guys and then you'll see a game filled with bugs and glitches.

So many bugs there's a bug factory on the cover. 2K Sports doesn't seem to care too much about fixing a lot of them either. I'll never buy another MLB 2K series game again. The Show is the best baseball game that I've ever played.

The closest thing to to it would be MVP 2005. MLB 2K should fall of the map but there has to be a baseball option for 360 gamers. It's a shame The Show can't come to 360 users because then they would have a real baseball game.

Yeah I noticed that. That is one of the reason so many prospects are left in FA as well. They do not offer a contract. I mentioned I saw Dominic Brown on another team because Phils didn't offer, which doesn't make much sense.

I'd say that's a bigger issue than having to turn training off

Will hold off buying the game until there's a comfirmed fix.

From what I see training plays a role, but is not the exclusive reason. What I mean is this....Salary is tied into the ability level of the player. The default rosters have salary much lower than when these players hit FA, I'll use Burnett as an example making 5.5 mil.

Now when prospects come up for renewal at end of season the cpu treats them as a FA and gives them too much money. To test that sim to the second offseason and you will see a minor leaguer in your system will look as if he is a FA. Give him a ridiculously low salary and by the time it comes to renew the player you will be allowed to renew. The player does not have contract renewable next to his name.

Now I am guessing since the cpu is tied, rigidly, to what it sees it offers what it can afford. Training keeps the ratings down a little longer so they don't cost as much.

The Arbitration process and renewal I think is what is really messing the system up. The cpu over pays for guys it should have under control. When it thinks of them as a FA it sometimes just lets them walk as in the case above and what I saw with Dominic Brown.

I've held back a lot of comments on a lot of threads because I don't want to sound like the unappreciative "rookie" around here, but you just summed up my entire feeling on this game.

Basically, as incredible as this franchise is, it's success is its own enemy--you constantly hear all about "the little things" that make it great. True, but it's also the little things that flaw it badly. (Look at the glitches thread year in and year out)
Russell and the dev. team have made an awesome product and do a tremendous job patching and improving the issues that pop up--but WHY do they pop up? It seems we're left with so much more potential for next year's game every year.
Can we go just one off-season without worrying about "improved player models and lighting?" They all look fine as is! And The Show blows it's only single competitor away, everyone knows that! I'd rather hear about more time and effort going into testing and development than hearing about player models one more time. At least draw up some new animations--swinging and running and home run trots and celebrations all need new ones badly.
The little things...they can't fix the photo of the created player's baseball card throwing right-handed, when he's left-handed? C'mon...at least 3 years straight now...little stuff like that and worse, in gameplay, add up.

I didn't join this forum to bash, don't get me wrong. I've purchased the game 3 years in a row now after buying a ps3 strictly for 09 after playing 08, so I think purchasing 3 years in a row not only shows my support and loyalty, but entitles me to vent.
If anyone associated with the game is offended in any way, please realize that it's only to help an issue for a future title.

However, being a 90% franchise player, if this year goes by as a "wait-until-next-year's" kind of game, I'm with CGHitman14, I will not buy at launch next year and will not wait for patches and workarounds.
I'm getting tired of getting duped by a broken product.

Yea, there's workarounds and tricks to "get by," but we shouldn't have to.
You wouldn't buy a car and then be told "just don't drive at night until we find a patch for the broken headlights."

I understand deadlines, and budgets, and undermanned staffs all could play a big role in this, especially coming from a giant such as Sony, but it just seems like they focus on improving the parts that work, and ignoring the parts that don't.

I haven't even started my franchise for this new game yet, but I'm already concerned after reading this thread that I should have waited...maybe even until next year's. I really hope the dev's find a fix to make this year's game worth it.

To the SCEA guys--I really do love this franchise, it's just that it could be THAT much more better.
Don't think of this as getting yanked out of the game after back to back HR's...this is just a visit to the mound to get your head back in the game.

                          Play ball!
A long quote, but I agree with all this. I hope SCEA is reading. The franchise mode doesn't just need to be reworked, it's fundamentally broken. It's only truly playable under a plethora of specific circumstances and workarounds. I would rather have the 2009 version with a complete and thoughtful franchise mode than this 2010 version with the same, broken franchise mode. It boggles my mind that more effort was probably put into bringing Eric Karros into the virtual booth than addressing the issues in franchise mode.

This isn't a bug I've done about 50 plus simulations on very high rated guys not being re-signed by their own team. Sometimes they re-sign sometimes they don't the cpu makes the best decisions on their budget and needs. It can't get much better than that. Pujols most likely isn't going to be in a Cardinals uniform by the end of the year (maybe). The Rays didn't re-sign Crawford and Werth took a monster contract from Nats.

                            It's still a video game
