without digging through the roster foundation screens for every team in depth, the ones I have looked through, a lot of the young potential studs end up with 5 and 6 year deals from the CPU, I don't always know if it's when they could get them arbitration or not, some probably. Take SFG with Lincecum and Posey, both of them got 6 year deals during the first offseason I believe. I don't think I've found the underlying culprit, only SCEA will probably be able to do that since they know the code running under the hood during all this. However, I think I might have found the way to fix it from the other side, which is take away the GM's need to stay under a budget and make "real" decisions about who to keep and who to let go. I did notice a LOT when I did a 30 team control test before this one, that almost EVERY team had notices pop up that they had reached the maximum roster limit, and all outstanding offers were recinded. I'm not sure no budget helps that or not.
However, thus far I've at least in ONE test now, gotten a franchise to let you use 1 team (preserving the Trade Logic that appears to get modified if you assign "control" to a team, even if everything is on auto) , and while probably not the most realisticly speaking (most teams would use arbitration, and the knowledge they have control over a person for a few more years to keep costs down) by allowing them "unlimited*" budget room they do sign their young players to long term deals, that at least in the end, keep them on a team instead of rotting in a FA list.
As I said before, the CPU doesn't become the Yankees, smaller market teams will still spend less than big market teams. As long as you as the player maintain self control and don't just "buy" a team (which, the budget numbers still move and adjust, they'll say you have -$ if you go over the owner budget, they just don't mean anything as far as stopping a transaction) so as long as you act accordingly, I think it shouldn't get out of hand.
I'm still going to run some more simulations to see what I can screw with.
Feel free to give me your thoughts, ideas, comments, things that make my idea worthless and for nothing

With luck, SCEA will throw a patch out soon that fixes everything up nice and neat like.
