Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread

Started a CF, got drafted by the Red Sox. Through 26 games at AA I'm hitting .299 with 1 HR 6 RBI, SLG% .433 OPS .753

Don't get very many RBI chances batting in the bottom third of the lineup.

Edit: 1st game after posting I got moved to the 2 spot

It's in training. You need points, and a lot of them, else it will be rather inferior compared to the others. I would advise against it until you have mastered the ones you have.

ok thank you. but is it like you have X amount of points you can buy a new pitch or is it just a random session when you hit the majors?

200 points will allow you to choose another pitch. The option is located right under the bars for your other pitches in the training menu. You can have up to five pitches in total, but once you learn one you can't unlearn it. For instance, if you decide to add a cutter, you can't decide down the road to unlearn it to learn a splitter. Good luck!
Yes, I've been here since 2003. No, I don't post much. I'm too busy playing the games.

First guy, starting as 2B (secondary position IF)

I'm really loving the realism of my stats... they seem to really jibe with the skills I've developed and don't seem unrealistic. My best year was hitting 21 home runs, more BB than K, .295, around .860 OPS.

Somehow I've never gotten any all star games yet (turning 32 this season), won two gold gloves.

Do you guys play every single game, or simulate a lot? I find that with my starting pitcher, I enjoy playing each game, but with my hitter, there are so many games to play I play one a week or so, not every single game. Simming seems to give the same stats per event as actually playing, unless I am mistaken.

I also created a player with a terrible skillset. A first baseman with speed > strength, but power > contact, and all his ability lies in range, not glove. Probably won't get far with that one though.

Are you sure? I saw an option called "remove pitch" now that my pitcher has five.

Also the case with 4. It is only when you have 3 that you can't unlearn a pitch.

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread

I just picked up The Show on Easter, so I've had it for a week.

I always create myself, since it has always been my dream to be a pitcher in the MLB. I did a test run just to see what to expect from RttS, and as of last night I started a player that I plan to keep.

Currently I'm in July of my first season with the AA New Hampshire Fisher Cats (of the Toronto Blue Jays), and after having been relegated to a relief role until late June, I'm currently 3-2 with a 1.86 ERA in 68 IP with 57 K and only a few walks. Got my move to the rotation after pitching seven scoreless innings of relief in an extra inning affair.

Looking forward to playing later tonight!

Huh. I don't remember that in '10. I skipped last year's game. My apologies then.

I'd like to ask what is probably a stupid question, but here it goes...

Can you turn off catcher mode when playing a catcher in RTTS? I actually enjoy making the calls behind the plate, but its not something i want to do EVERY single game.

                          Thanks.

Struggling with my RTTS created player and hoping some of the long-time RTTS players would be willing to share some insight. I have created a second baseman with an emphasis on speed and contact, with a decent “glove”. I have done pretty well with the fielding side of things and have swiped a few bases (though I need to pay better attention to not getting picked off at 1st). What I am having the hardest time with is hitting. I realize that the only way to get better is to continue to play and learn the nuances of the game. Now it could be that I just naturally suck at playing video games and that my old eyes and hand-eye coordination just are not suited for it, but I wonder if the way that I am creating the player also is factoring into the issue. I have generated a 6’4”, 230+ muscular slap-hitting speedy second baseman. I am wondering if the body shape/size is negatively impacting the type of hitter I am looking for. I want a speedy, single/double type player that may occasionally pull one of a very short fence. Is there a walkthrough like the "franchise" thread that might help me in setting this up - thoughts…?

My ratings are pretty good, but it seems like every time I put the bat on the ball it's a ground out or fly out. Frustrating

This happened to me a couple years back.. I came in to close and the game kept going. They never took me out. I think I pitched like 18 innings lol

I posted on here ab it when it happened, actually I joined this site just to tell ab it. Haha
