Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
I've currently got a starting pitcher going who got drafted originally by the Texas Rangers. I thought to myself, "Great, that'll be a tough start when I do reach the majors." I went 5-1 with a 2.49 ERA with 51 Ks and 5 walks and a WHIP of 1.05 in my 11 starts in AA. Then I got called up by AAA where I started out in the bullpen and as I was doing so, got traded to the Colorado Rockies organization.
I'm currently in my second season with AAA Colorado Springs and have worked my way into the rotation. Through four starts I have a 2-0 record with a 3.33 ERA and a WHIP of 1.36 along with 4 Ks and 2 walks.
My three pitches I've started with are:
4 seam fastball currently maxing out at 94 MPH
Nasty slider that's usually my strikeout pitch

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
I'm in year 3 with my power hitting RF. I only hit with him and have hit a pretty bad streak. I'm hitting the ball hard but people are making great plays against me. I'm hitting about .280 with 15 HR's & 50 RBI's while batting cleanup for Cincy. I am hoping to strike out less than 175 times...SOS Madden League (PS4) | League Archives

It did make it hard to get all my progress markers, but I managed to carve out a 16-year career with him. Once the final version of Knight's roster comes out I'll make a pitcher for this year and try to do the same thing. Good luck!Yes, I've been here since 2003. No, I don't post much. I'm too busy playing the games.Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
In the last version of this game I played (10), I made a 3B. I wanted him to sorta be like Chipper for his career, so I kept a sheet with Chipper's default stats to compare my progress to. I found that, that way I was able to avoid having a cheesy 99 PWR, 99 BUNT, 99 SPD type of player.

I'm doing the same this year. The only ratings I'm planning to max out at 99 are Plate Vision and Plate Discipline.Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
I usually just go ahead and max out the ratings, and counteract that by just continually inching the sliders in the CPU's favor to keep my stats realistic. I usually start on All-Star with most of the sliders in my favor, and then just keep bringing them down as my player improves to keep my batting average between .300 and .350.
Once I am maxed on everything, a good year would be .300, 40hr, 120 RBI's...which is pretty close to what real life superstars can produce.Comment

A - Contact
C - Power
B - Fielding
A - Speed
I'm not sure what specific number I will stop at within those ratings. I think making my player 99 is cheesy. If I play RTTS long enough this year I plan to make my rating regress, when my player gets past his prime but that will be awhile.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
I'm still struggling badly in April of 2013. I'm batting a whopping .200. I have 6 stolen bases so far so I'm doing good things when I get on base, I just need to get on base more. I failed my last set of goals but have somehow been moved from the backup CF to the starting RF. I'm doing well in the field, I just need my bat to start warming up.
The Cubs have started off hot we won 8 games in a row earlier in the season and are 0.5 GB from the Reds. Still early but it's nice to be on a winning team thus far.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
if your player gets old enough like 36 does your skill go down like it would in real life or do they stay the same its not realistic if your player is still in his prime at 40Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
I think it would add to the experience if SCEA added a "cap" for each rating based on what type of player you have. I think Tiger has always done something similar to this. For example, if you have huge power ratings it limits your contact, speed, etc.
How far you stretch one rating inversely impacts the maxium you can have on some ratings.Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
Left Fielder drafted by the Cincinnati Reds. 5'11 185lbs Power Hitter. Spent half my first season in the minors before being called up to AAA, where I finished the season. Made the MLB team out of Spring Training as a 19 yr old rookie back up, but eventually took the starting duties away from Chris Heisey in mid April. Won the ROY, MVP, Hank Aaron Award with 49HR, and finished second in the Silver Slugger with a .313 BA (the winner had a .314 BA, and that kept me from getting the Triple Crown).
We went to the playoffs behind myself, Joey Votto, Brandon Phillips, Jay Bruce, Johnny Cueto, and Mat Latos and won the World Series over the BoSox in 7 Games. Just started my second season with the Reds after signing a 1 year 1.7M contract. Winning has gotten a little tougher since the target is on our back now. We are currently 0-6, but I'm batting .567 with 2 HR and 7 RBI. Gotta step up!Last edited by tlew09; 04-25-2012, 01:25 PM.Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
Am I the only one who noticed that RTTS went back to its old system of promoting you to AAA or even the Majors as a bench player instead of as a starter? I remember last year you'd only be promoted if there was a spot in the rotation if you were a SP or a spot in the lineup as a position player. I really enjoyed last year's concept of making you work hard for your promotion and giving you the starting position or rotation spot. It hasn't killed my enthusiasm as it's still a really good career mode, but it would be nice to see it go back to the far more realistic scenario in last year's game.Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
Hi guys, I have a question.
I created a SS, and was drafted by the Twins association. Did pretty well in AA and requested a trade, as I saw the Twins suck in MLB. So I was traded to the Rays.
Got promoted to AAA quickly, and shortly after that promoted to MLB at the end of my first year. I played about 14 games in MLB in season one.
They offered me a 1 year contract as AAA started...but I was automatically promoted to MLB starter without doing anything. So I finished season 2 as MLB starter...and signed a 4 year contract with the Rays.
After completion of this contract I would've played for the Rays for 6 seasons...can I jump into free agency after this contract? I so desperately want to play with the Giants...
Also how does free agency work, must I wait for offers or what?San Francisco 49ers

Finished 2012 in AA with the Twins. Went 8-6 with a 2.48 ERA and two saves. Not too shabby.
On May 31, 2013, I was traded to the Cubs. I've been a die-hard Cubs fan my whole life and they need the help in the game, so this is awesome! Been playing The Show since '10, and this is the best thing to happen to me in RttSComment
