I was benched for stealing too often. How do I know when to steal? I can never see the 3rd base coaches signs.

Got promoted to AAA quickly, and shortly after that promoted to MLB at the end of my first year. I played about 14 games in MLB in season one.

They offered me a 1 year contract as AAA started...but I was automatically promoted to MLB starter without doing anything. So I finished season 2 as MLB starter...and signed a 4 year contract with the Rays.

After completion of this contract I would've played for the Rays for 6 seasons...can I jump into free agency after this contract? I so desperately want to play with the Giants...

Also how does free agency work, must I wait for offers or what?
If you have over six seasons of playing time in the majors, then you're eligible for free agency.

The offseason progresses like it has the other years, except now other teams than the Rays will offer you contracts as well. If you really want to play for the Giants, make sure they have a need for your player, and hope they offer you a contract. IIWY, I would save at the start of the offseason and reload if you don't get an offer from the Giants.
Yes, I've been here since 2003. No, I don't post much. I'm too busy playing the games.

You'll see a pop screen that shows the base couch with instructions on what the signs mean

Usually when you start seeing this, you're in the clear for stealing on your own. If you're stealing on your own without seeing this, you need to be successful a lot...

I wish they'd take this out, since you are also punished if you get "caught stealing" on a botched hit-and-run along with most players in the game can attempt a stolen base and have an average steal% even if they only have average speed and average baserunning ability.

2 things i struggle with the most, drawing walks and hitting HRs..im in september of my first season and have 0 BB and 1 HR.

leading the league in triples still and 5th in doubles. I've passed every other advancement goal except for getting walked and hitting a hr within a series.

Walks are dependent on what level you're playing at and your sliders.

First off, pitchers in AA are more aggressive than any other pitchers in the AAA and MLB levels. They will keep trying to hammer the strikezone. As you move up, you'll notice more pitchers trying to work the corners.

Recognizing the pitch trajectory as soon as it leaves the pitcher's hand gives you a big hint at where the pitch will end up. If it looks high and funky, it'll be around your shoulders, if it looks like it's zipping towards your batter, it'll be inside. Different batting cameras help with recognition.

Lastly, don't be a afraid to tweak the sliders. I moved down pitcher control to 3, pitcher consistency to 7/8 (less HBP), and pitcher strike frequency to 2. Through the first month and a half of my fourth season I have 12 walks (only about 60 or so plate appearances).

Also working on power, vision, and discipline may get the opposing pitcher to try to work around you to get you to get yourself out.

Boy have I hit a freaking slump! I was hitting .302 and a big time 6-46 slump has just taken place.

                Down to .283. Still have 20 HR's & 69 RBI's but I've been atrocious in RISP situations.

50 games left in the season! My squad, Cincinnati, is 1st in the NL Central at 63-46

I had a huge slump in my second year of RTTS. It began sometime in late-June in AAA, where I was batting .290, then it seemed like I would go days without a hit and I finished the season at .250. My first year I started off terribly, hitting .160 through early-May before finishing the year at .291.

I created a 5 tool SS. Was drafted by the Dodgers.

Played in AA until about mid June.

I hit .313, 9 HR, 33 RBI and had 42 Stolen Bases. Made AA all star game.

I moved to triple A in mid June and through mid July I am only batting .234, 4 HR, 13 RBI 8 stolen bases.

I was just traded to the Red Sox for kevin Youkilis. I'm now starting for the Red Sox AAA team.

So frustrating. My CF played a few years in AA/AAA - got traded a few times, finally landing with my favorite team, Detroit. In my 4th year, after tearing it up in AAA in year 3, I got called up the Show as the new starter over Austin Jackson. Was doing OK, hitting about .260 - with the knack for getting big hits with men on base, which put me top 5 in RBI's. I had about 15 homers by the All-Star break. Anyway, I suffered a minor injury and missed two games. When I was healthy again, I was no longer the starter, and was reduced to playing about once every two weeks, which made reaching my goals near impossible, coupled with several of my attributes majorly declining. Start of year 5, I'm back in AAA, and completely stink. No power, grounders barely make it through the infield, and anything I do manage to hit sharply is right to short or second. I've started calling myself "2 Steps" because everything I hit only requires the fielder to move, at most, two steps to snag the ball.

I remember in a regular game it was easier to steal than in RTTS in MLB 11. RTTS, guys had rocket arms at catcher once you hit AAA. Looking at your stats I assume this is not the case anymore?

Also, someone said you get more points at the beginning of player creation. How different is it that 11? Just curious, about to buy MLB 12.

Thanks for that info, ill definitely try it. Im in my 2nd season and got offered a 1 yr 37k contract as a AA bench player and i dont know how i didnt get moved up. I passed all advancement goals except for the walks, hit .297 in the first season and started almost every game in the first year. Now my guy sits the bench half the games of the first month of season 2. So confused...

I have a question for those playing 1B in RTTS. What do you do when you get throw decision training? Do you just stand around and wait for the pitcher to cover 1st? That seems to get me really low points.

I field it and run to first myself so it doesn't take a chance. Only when there's a runner on 1st and 1 out or no outs do I score, I throw it to 2nd.
