Actually - Lavarnway did just fine last year when called up and his defense has been much improved this year.

It's not so much he can't catch......he just started catching late in his college career. Scouts have been saying that his catching has been more than adequate this year at AAA and expect him to be in the majors backing up Saltalamacchia by later this year.

Here's an article about Lavarnway's strides behind the plate
Ryan Lavarnway ( Kelly O'Connor ) As he came up through the lower levels of the minor league system, Ryan Lavarnway ’s defensive prow...

Iglesias is hitting over .280 at AAA Patwucket this year and is young for AAA (22 years old)......His glove is A+ Major League ready and while aat the MLB level he may not be an offensive star, he is expected to be able to hit .260 to .280 and provide 5 to 10 HR per year while giving you gold glove defense at SS

Here is a scouting report on Iglesias

Scouting Report: Elite defensive skills highlighted by extremely fluid hands and soft glove. Excellent instincts and anticipation produces his well above-average range. Will get to balls that most, if not all, will not. Plus, accurate arm. Adept at throwing on the move and has outstanding body control. Future perennial Gold Glove shortstop. Grades as an "80" defensively. Can also play second and third base more than adequately. Major League ready in the field. Plus bat speed accented by quick wrists. Low maintenance, compact swing. Little lower body in swing mechanics. Pulls ball hard, but struggles driving the ball the other way. Minimal power projection. Can evolve into a solid-average hitter for batting average and show doubles power as he matures. Small frame with not much more room to pack on muscle. Extremely impatient approach. Making strides and improving with understanding of his strike zone, but inexperienced professionally and very age advanced. Neglects to cover outer third of plate with eyes. Struggles staying back against breaking balls. Must improve with handling of off-speed stuff to hit consistently at big league level. Above-average speed. Projects as #9 hitter in first division team's lineup, with ceiling of #2 hitter as he approaches his late-20s. Due to advanced defensive skills will most likely learn to hit at the major league level and slowly ramp into becoming more proficient at the plate over the course of big league career

      SP - Dan Haren -

      W - 2 / L - 2 ERA - 3.21 WHIP - 1.28

      C - Chris Iannetta -

      Avg - .179 HR - 4 SLG% .429 OBP% .170 OPS%. 607

      C - Bobby Wilson -

      Avg - .138 SLG%. 241 OBP% .167 OPS% .408

As you can see my catchers are lacking. Will probably send Wilson down and bring Conger. up. But, he isn't deserving of a promotion. My SP is solid in AAA. I have a created Adenheart sitting ready as well as a couple other guys. To sweeten the deal I would be willing to add a SS with a B potential by the name of Jean Argues. He is also rated pretty high in r/l. Also have a few A potential SP if needed.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Just want get some opinions so I can walk away not feeling like I screwed the other team and kept it honest.
Although the price would be REALLY steep, the Blue Jays are a good option. They've got a catching surplus (Arencibia/D'Arnaud) and could use a pitcher. They've got Jacob Marisnick as a five tool outfielder, who's listed as a CF in OSFM but can play every outfield position.

      Haren
      A prospect
B prospect (Not your SS, they've got Hechavarria/Escobar)

      For

D'arnaud (better all around hitter and fielder) or J.P. Arencibia (a lot better power, decent fielding, good arm)
      Marisnick

This is really a go big or go home trade, and it won't be fair if the Jays are out of it.

Does anyone really care where I sent this from?

Xander Bogaerts is a potential future stud, Jose Iglesias is the next Nick Punto. Blunt, but pretty much sums it up.

Jays will get rid of Arencibia before D'Arnaud.

Hey guys, I'm using the Blue Jays in franchise and I'm 23-17 in the AL East, 3.0 games behind Boston. There is a few areas I could upgrade, but the most glaring is 1B.Much like real life Adam Lind is stinking it up, batting .201 with 3 HR and 12 RBI.This hurts a lot considering most of my other hitters are Right Handed like Bautista, Encarnacion, Lawrie and Arencibia.

I could really use a lefty to help balance things out and bat in the 4 or 5 spot.I might give Lind a few more games before I turn to my Minors first, but I just wanted your guys thoughts so when I do reach July I can have some names in mind already.

As of right now Justin Morneau seems like one option considering the Twins are 7.0 games out of first and are last in the central. It would also be cool since he is Canadian and having him come to his home team, but I'll wait til around July and see where they are.

Oo yeah his defense is off the charts and I love the kid, he just doesn't have much power and isn't a great hitter. And I just know from a couple national scouts, Keith Law and Myers and a couple others that Lavarnaway still needs alot of work behind the plate.

Scout 1:"I don't think he can stay behind the dish. Too big and stiff."

Scout 2:"No. Cup of coffee maybe, but not a big league regular." This was regarding his trade value.

Scout 3:"Red Sox believe he's a catcher, but I don't believe anyone else does."

So that's just where I'm gettting my knowledge from.

First time viewing this thread but wanted to post and ask if anyone is doing a Braves franchise. If so, what kind of trades are you making? Are you trading for LF and moving Prado to 3rd, or are you keeping Prado and trading for an up and coming 3B to take over when chipper retires/gets hurt

Ha I wouldn't say Nick Punto, and he won't be a stud, he'll be good but not an every year All Star. But yeah have to agree.

How about Brian LaHair from the Cubs, they have Rizzo waiting there, if LaHair is doing good, offer up a B and a C for him.

just remember LaHair can also play the outfield as well so it's not like he wouldn't have a spot on the team at all

It looks like Bogaerts will end up being a 3B or LF once he fills out. So either you move WMB or Crawford.

Trying to bring back the winning ways of the Boston Red Sox.

It should be a long tired road considering the fans/media I have to deal with.
