Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

im playing as the mets in my new franchise and im around .500, but no where near contention and the pirates are ahead of the cardinals by 2.5 games in the central and i was wondering if i could get the pirates to overpay for some offense, considering the could be over 500, let alone make the playoffs for the first time in years.

im looking to ship them scott hairston, a very versatile (mainy corner OFer) who eats up leftys, providing a great power threat off the bench but could start at many positions. who do you think they would give up for a guy like him or anybody else on the current mets team (i havent made any roster moves so far). thanks!

For butler I would want relief pitching. Maybe to the Orioles for Jim Johnson and a few others? Johnson would be a set up man? I don't know. I'd like butler to stay in the AL. Maybe Oakland?

Why give up an A prospect who's projected to be a top of the rotation or superstar player. Relievers only give you 1 inning of value a game if that. They're just not worth A's

              Couple questions for you guys:

              1. how did you feel about the real-life Youkilis trade this weekend? it seemed like that trade would get laughed out of the thread and the guy probably insulted if you (as Chicago) proposed that in here!

              2. what do you think about trades in-division? i'm the pirates but i covet allen craig of the cardinals. Would they ever do a deal like that with a division rival? What do you think it would take to get him if so?

Fine, what's your price on Craig Kimbrel?

1.) I think it was fair, as Youkilis was sucking. It was basically two C's for an under performing, overpaid, veteran, which is fair.

2.) They're very uncommon, and you'd definitely have to overpay for him.

I see where you're coming from, but they would never do that in IRL.

Ya but no other team would give up an A type player for him either

Eh, I'd say that a team would give up a top-5 prospect for him. I could see the Jays doing it, actually. I wouldn't mind it, either.

As a Red Sox fan, I'd grade it a C. Cherington did what he could and opened up a spot for Middlebrooks. Stewart and Lillibridge are young and has some major league experience although using The Show values they're C overall players with Stewart sporting a low B potential imo. Totally agree with ACMilan on this

i'd have a hard time giving up a top-5 prospect for a closer myself....

Oops, didn't word it right. I meant top-5 on the team's depth chart. You get what I mean?

Off-topic; Congrats on A.J. Griffin, and especially Derek Norris. That was awesome.

Exactly and another thing you never see relievers in top 5 prospects, unless the farm system is extremely poor. You see relievers come out of no where every year. So why pay for a guy a ton who might blow or who you don't know what your gonna get in the future. And he's only pitching in 70 innings a year, unless your manager is Fredi Gonzalez
