Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I have made the following trades in my Red Sox franchise. I know some of them would not hapen in real life, but in the game it was a fair traid.
Signed Roy Oswalt and Soler on FA. And set my rotation:
Lester
Beckett
Buchholz
Oswalt
Bard
Then made the following trades for my bullpen:
DiceK for Fuentes (Oakland)
Jenks for Ogando
And my bullpen looks like this:
Ogando
Aceves
Padilla
Albers
Melancon
Fuentes
Bailey
I know, that the Jenks for Ogando trade would never happen. But in this game, Jenks is a very good player, with B control, however Ogando only has D control, with both having B potential. About the same age, so in this game, with Jenks being injury free, thisnwas a fair trade I think. A Jenks from 2 years ago is better then Ogando. Very good set man for the Rangers.
Then I have made the following trade(the last one)
Aviles for Yunel Escobar.
Both are B potential, about the same age, Escobar is slightly a better player, but he has bigger salary, mand looking for a big contract shortly. On the other hand Toronto has an A prospect at SS in the waiting, with Omar on the team as well. Aviles can play in all positions on the field. I know this would not happen IRL but in the games enviroment I think it was a fair trade.
So my lineup looks like this:
1. Ellsbury
2. Pedroia
3. Gonzalez
4. Ortiz
5. Youkilis
6. Crawford
7. Ross
8. Escobar
9. Saltalamacchia
B. Lawarnway
B. Punto
B. Soler
B. Sweeney
Guys waiting for a callup:
Iglesias
F. Morales

Well if you don't care about realism those trades are fine with the minor exception being Dice-K for Fuentes, I realize Feuntes is older but he is worth more than Dice-K at this point. If I was doing that trade I'd try to toss in a nice C prospect, Pimentel from Boston? In my opinion while those trades are fair for the most part, (usually slightly in your favor) if you don't care about realism. However, I'm not sure that it fits the strategies of the teams involved, if you are looking for some realism. Nice lineup by the way.Comment

Anyone got an idea of a realistic team I could trade Youkilis to and come out with some nice prospects? (willing to throw a B prospect into the deal too)"I'm just gonna go out there, and call the Yankees my daddy" - Pedro Martinez

If you want a cheap burner, trying dealing for Gorkys Hernandez with the Pirates. He's got some wheels and plays a solid CF. He also happens to buried on their organization depth chart.Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

The Dodgers have a need at both 1st and 3rd that Youk could fill. In return, you could probably net a guy like Chris Withrow along with James Baldwin.Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

I read most of this post but not all of it. So I apologize if this has been discussed. I'm having issues with Dan uggla. I can't get anything goin with him and is struggling to hit .200 half way through may. what can I get for him? I'd like to acquire another second baseman out the deal or SS, 3B to take over choppers role when he retires or even a middle rotation pitcher. Some good prospects are a option to. What kinda deals can I get here? Wouldn't mind dealing off Hudson either due to age. Anybody make good trades with Atlanta? Sorry for all the questionsComment

Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I spent some time out in San Diego last year for work and loved it out there. They have a decent little park and they love their Padres so I'm planning to start a Franchise with them.
There are a couple of moves that I'd like to pull off starting with acquiring a face for the franchise. I was thinking a David Wright type guy but I'm open to suggestions. I'd like it to be fairly realistic in the fact that I should probably be trading for a guy on the last year of his contract that doesn't plan to resign and I understand that I may have to let a few top prospects go in order to achieve this.
Secondly, as the GM, I'd like to be loved by the city and I think bringing back Jake Peavy would fill a nice whole in the rotation and he was always a fan favorite.
I'd also like to bring in Tony Gwynn Jr. His dad was an icon in that city and Jr. played his college ball there.
My questions: What will it take to make this happen? No one on the team is really untouchable to me but I think Maybin should probably stay as they just extended him. Thoughts?Comment

At this point Peavy is a 2 Bs or maybe even a B and a C. For Gwynn less. Maybe send Nick Hundley to the Dodgers, they need catchers. Perhaps Casey Kelly alone for Peavy, if necessary add Donovan Tate.Comment

Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Any other thoughts on the face? Is David Wright attainable with the Padres trading chips? Is there someone else that could fill that role for me? Looking to find a #3 hitter that will sell jerseys and contend for things like gold glove, silver slugger, etc. You know, the guy that they print on giant banners all over the stadium.Comment
