Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

    Hello guys,

What do you guys think of this trade? I send (C) Montero, (CF) Gutierrez and (1B) Smoak to Rangers for (SS) Profar? I think it's pretty fair, no? Rangers get the catcher they need for years to come along with other solid players. Profar wont be getting any playing time with Rangers since Andrus signed extension and Kisnler is at 2B.

Replace Montero with Saunders and Smoak with Paxton.

Heck no to get Profar he'd have to send Zunino one way or another, Paxton has been horrible of late and Saunders isnt more than a 3 win player at his peak, plus Gutierez has no bat at all....

That's... something I disagree with and I'll leave it at that lol.

Then replace Paxton with Hultzen and it's fine.

Montero/Hultzen/Saunders may even be a bit of an overpay.

That part was untrue. Still, even though some were freak injuries (anyone can get hit in the wrist and break it) there are still injury concerns with him that lower his potential value just a little.
Yes a few of his injuries were just pure bad luck. I think this year is his year to prove he can stay healthy. It was very smart for him to hold out last year and not rush back after the surgery.

CarGo does have some shaky home/road splits, so I see where you (AC) are coming from. He's just entering the prime of his career and even though the home/road splits weren't impressive, he basically carries the Rockies on his back when Tulo is hurt. I see his numbers, home and away, going up if Tulo continues to bat behind him in the lineup.
Last year.. why not pitch garbage to CarGo? They had a bunch of AAA players batting behind him.

You're right about Rosario's defense, but he is going to improve and has already shown signs of improvement behind the plate. The guy is going to smash 30 HR's a year if he can stay healthy.

Why in God's name would Texas give up the best prospect in baseball for a DH, a 2.5 win player, and future #2/3

Okay, you're speaking in 'I see this happening' kinda thing. Guessing doesn't have any impact on play values.

Because you undervalue these guys heavily.

Im also the Mariners and am really having a tough time not trading Franklin and Miller. Both are decent prospects and will be very good pieces on my ML roster but they are also good pieces to trade...boo life

Isn't that what all GM's do when trading for prospects? haha

Prospects, not established major leaguers with discernible issues like Gonzalez and Rosario. Just because you think Rosario's defense will improve and he'll mash 30 and he'll hit his peak doesn't mean he will, and it shouldn't have impact on his current value.

Input on a Baez for Matt Moore trade?

Why do the Rays need another 3B with Longoria signed through like 2022 or something?

true, after some quick googling most think 3B is the most likely spot for Baez in the majors....hmmm

Also, Casper Wells is already on the Jays in real life (they claimed him off waivers, don't pay for what you should have for free). I would suggest you swap out Ackley for Seager, and add in Saunders or Gutierrez as your 4th OF. Also you could probably toss in a lefty reliever from Seattle as well for more depth. Either Lucas Luetge or Charlie Furbush would work.

So, for this massive trade, imo:

TOR (me) trades: Lawrie, Victor Martinez, Arencieba, Bonifacio, Alex Burnett, Thole, 2 Prospects both from AA not very highly rated but not low either.

TOR (me) gets: Seager, Wilin Rosario, Carlos Peguero, Chris Nelson, Rex Brothers, Jonathan Herrera, Michael Saunders, Casper Wells (freebie), Furbush or Luetge
Tried w/ these guys and it didnt work, so I may have to force the trade. Never going to complain about getting more pieces in a deal I figured was fair anyway Thanks for the imput!
