Another example is Derek Jeter. We might think oh, he's on decline blah blah not more than a C. Yeah, you try being Cashman and explaining why you gave up the face of the franchise who people still pay to see for some fringe no name to Yanksfan. IF someone on here wants true realism, I offer it up. IF they want to have fun their own way--I'm not keeping no 'chiser from doing anything.

I hope you understand what I mean. Danks isn't moving irl.
LOL! at Danks being a Jeter-type FRANCHISE player!!! The only guy on the Sox close right now to that status is Konerko. There hasn't really been a true untouchable on the Sox since Frank Thomas before his falling out. Kenny Williams absolutely would deal both Danks and Floyd at the deadline this season if they are out of it. They let Buehrle go, they absolutely wouldn't bat an eye at trading Danks if not in contention. Peavy too. Sale is the only SP safe in my book. Would anyone offer enough to get Kenny Williams to trade Danks? There I agree with you (Danks' value is low right now), that is the question, not whether KW or the fan base would allow it to happen.

And remember the OP was trying to trade FOR Danks to the Rox so what other GMs think about Danks is kinda irrelevant since the OP is the acquiring GM. KW being amenable to potentially trading Danks is really the key thing here. I appreciate you striving for realism, but as a Chicago-area native who has a good handle on KW's career in Chicago (as a maverick willing to trade nearly anyone at any time), I see the realism much differently.

He meant reputation wise. Like, explaining a fire sale to your fanbas-

Pretty much trying to avoid being Jeffrey Loria is the best way to explain it.

Meh, that's not very fair, but it could be worse.

Hey guys, didn't mean to get everyone riled up or anything.
I appreciate everyone's input on this. Here's what I finally came up with. I think it addresses some needs on both sides:

        CWS: Danks, Santiago, Rodriguez

COL: Belisle, EY Jr., Blackmon, Will Swanner

Swanner is Colorado's best catching prospect. He's a mid/high B, and actually has a higher potential than Wilin Rosario. Blackmon gives Chicago a LHH outfielder who can platoon with Viciedo. He's also got the speed to bat leadoff. And, EYJ gives them a solid bench player with outstanding speed.

So, at my final count...that's 3 young B potential guys and an above average, veteran reliever in exchange for a middle/back-end rotation guy, a young reliever who is close to reaching his peak, and a fringe prospect who may have a future as a specialist out of the 'pen.

Meh, Swanner's more valuable than anyone in that deal

I don't know about that Taveras is prolly worth Machado straight up much less Bundy added on too

What would it take to get Wil Myers or Miguel Sano from the Royals? I'm will to deal Hosmer or Moustakas if needed (Preferably Hosmer rather than Moustakas though).

I'm loving this thread by the way.

Realistically, you will probably have to blow the rays away with an offer as they just acquired him. You are probably looking at Hosmer + prospects.

Well both aren't realistic as you already have Moustakas at 3rd and you also just traded Myers but here are the trades I'd do

                  Myers: Starling and Zimmer

                  Sano: Moustakas and Zimmer

I knew they would both be quite unrealistic, but I love both guys so much. Would love to have them in my organization for my franchise.

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

This isnt a question about a specific trade per se, but a general question about the franchise settings.

First, should I be using force trades to get trades involving more than 3 players per team? Im assuming thats how you get them done, just splitting them up into two trades? And should ignore budgets be used also? Id like to keep things as realistic as possible but seem to run into trouble with having both ignore budgets and force trades set to off.

                      Thanks

I love what the spreadsheet has by Bryce Harper's name.

I'd like another big hitter batting 4th behind Butler in the lineup. Any ideas as to who I could target? Hosmer's struggling for me so far this season, so I don't see a need for him. He's definitely on the block for me right now. Also, is it a bad idea to to get rid of Hosmer? Should I let him develop some more? I know he's only 23 (I think), so is it a better idea to wait it out?

Very bad idea to get rid of him he was a top 5 prospect just 3 years ago.

So I traded a mid B pot catcher and high C outfielder to the dodgers for Dee Gordon. Is that fair?

Also what are some relievers that I could trade for realistically at the start of the season (I want guys with high K/9) need at least one lefty.

Yes that sounds like a fair deal.

Bastardo from the Phillies is a solid lefty for your bullpen. Henry Rodriguez of the Nats throws gas and is solid for K/9
