Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
However, I don't think the Buster Posey comp is especially cogent, mostly because Posey was a college product, was always a 100% sure thing as a prospect, and completely dominated all comers in the minors. Not to mention, Posey and Trahan bat with different handedness and Posey is an all-around catcher, while Trahan isn't highly regarded on defense (which is still an underrated skill for catchers).
That being said, I think they'd be willing to deal Trahan in the right situation--it would have to be for a top 30 player in MLB probably. I mean look what they did with Bauer (gave him away for nearly free). Certainly, Bauer's a bit of a special case because he and Kevin Towers didn't see eye-to-eye reportedly, but they've shown no hesitation for dealing their top prospects. Also see the Jarrod Parker deal. Not to mention, they have Miguel Montero playing at an All Star level at C and he's only 29.
As for Porcello, it's really a guess. If you're the Tigers it's high B + high B it seems. If you're another club, you're lowballing them with just high C. I could agree with high C + low C, or maybe low B only as a compromise.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
As for Hochevar, I don't think those fools are posturing. They overvalue their players and I do not see why you would want to trade for him tbh. There are better and cheaper options out there. I'd say give them an obvious upgrade over Getz at 2B or a LHH to platoon in RF plus a pitching prospect.
Trahan...that's a tough one. If they are in contention and have an obvious need somewhere, it is a possibility that I would not rule out. They would still have Perez but he's older than Trahan and needs more work than Trahan. Still not sure if Trahan sticks behind the dish, either. Trahan and Perez are both high risk/high reward and they probably want to keep both and see if one of them can at least stick when Montero is leaving.
What am I missing? Oh, Porcello! Yeah, he has more value to the Tigers being with the team than he does as trade fodder. I guess the question is though, if you are the Tigers and trading him. This is the inherent problem with the spreadsheet. If I'm DET, I don't expect to get more than a prospect with the same letter grade as him which is what? A mid-high B or a mid-B? Trading FOR him though might cost you more.Comment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I've watched almost all of his starts, and far too often, a reliever has to come out and bail him out of a bad inning. Porcello does 1 thing good though, he's very good at drawing double play hits.Comment

As someone who projects to be a 3.5 win player, do you think a three team trade could work, with Rasmus to AZ, Trahan to TO, and Kubel to a team that needs a good bat?

Well, that's not inconsistency lol. Not every starter can pitch into the 9th throwing 100 MPH like Verlander."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I don't think the Tigers are really asking anything, their just gonna let him hang around the minors till a team could really use him, then demand something crazy and probably wind up getting something close to it from a itchy GM that thinks he'll solidify they're playoff run.
Then find out different later, when he's getting chewed out by his fan base for what he gives the Tigers.

I've heard that sound 3 times... once was Babe Ruth, the second was Josh Gibson, and the third was Bo Jackson- Buck O'Neil

Trahan is no where close to being the type of player that Posey is, that would be a crazy assumption to make. The tools that Trahan has are similar to the ones Posey has and what they develop into will make Trahan a player with a similar skill set. By no means am I saying that Trahan is the next Buster Posey, I just think that the raw tools they both have are similar."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I have a question. When you trade for a major league player with one of your prospects, do you take in account the other teams current prospects. For example, if i'm trying to John Niese of the Mets and his current value is 2 mid-b's. For 1 of the prospects can i give them a mid b catcher even though they have travis d'arnaud waiting in the minors. Or should i focus on giving them mid b prospects in position where they have weaknesses in?Comment

Where would be a logical place to send Jeff Francoeur? I'm thinking the Yankees but I doubt they'd want him any way.
