Originally posted by Jordanfan23Played a great game with your sliders last night. Used the Yankees b/c the thought of using the Reds pitching with these sliders is downright scary! I was the Yanks, CPU was the Tigers. I lost 3-2, both teams had 9 hits, and the game played great. Had a runner on third with two out in the ninth, ground ball deep in the hole to short, and Giambi's slow arse got thrown out by an eyelash at first to end the game! Saw a lot of hit types, and a few errors, one which cost me a run on a muffed flyball by Matsui.Formerly Favre4vrComment

Re: Favre4vr's HOF slider tweaks
Originally posted by Jordanfan23I agree, it helps the pitch counts and walk totals when you use it, b/c you wait on the pitch you want. I also like the fact that most of my HR's are on regular swings, and just b/c you guess the location and pitch type, you still have to aim and time the swing. I have grounded out many times while guessing the pitch and location. it makes the at-bats more intense IMO!

Re: Favre4vr's HOF slider tweaks
I think guessing pitch and location makes the batting more rewarding as opposed to cheating or having a "hand up." It is exactly what real major leaguers do. Down 0-2, look for something off the plate and low, usually outside and off speed. Up 2-0, look for a fastball down the middle, or something hard for a strike. Besides, even guessing both right with a power hitter can still result in a weak ground ball DP. And batting against a pitcher with 5 or 6 pitches can be brutal using the guess pitch.Comment

Re: Favre4vr's HOF slider tweaks
Originally posted by jonptI'll have to disagree with that being realistic. Turn it off and see how many strikeout you get. Yeah Players do sit on pitches. But you sit on a fastball inside in real baseball and get a sinker that looks like one and then the bottom drops out and it's out of the strike zone but your still swinging. But if you used the guess pitch feature in this game you would know 100% that it was not a fasball inside. not realistic and a hand up. I don't use it because of that reason. It got too easy just guessing in one location and then hitting the power button when i guessed right
If you abuse it that way, then yes it is unrealistic. But if you use it like it was implemented, then maybe you would feel differently. So 20 strikeouts every game without it on is realistic? And a sinker and fastball are hard thrown pitches, so adjusting the zone from inside to outside only takes a little bit of bat speed, not a major league hitter. I don't use the power button at all either. So I guess what I am saying is, for me, I use it how the developers meant it to be used, I don't guess fastball down every pitch, and I don't overuse the power swing button either, so I guess it makes it the way I explained it in my earlier posts, fun and more intense. You think major league hitters go up there without guessing???Comment

The one area I may tweak is throwing accuracy. I may lower that to get more offline throws. I'll see with that. Of course, errors are always a concern. I have to say though, that I have never had so much fun with a baseball game.Formerly Favre4vrComment

Originally posted by favre4vrHey Joe--I haven't changed anything yet, so what's on the first page still stands. When I start thinking about adjusting something like errors, I get a game where I get 4 errors (like last night--Cano with 2, AROD throws the first ball of the game away, and Tejada boots one for Baltimore). I think I am pretty happy with these sliders.

I think the throwing accuracy could use a little tweaking as well. I have yet to see a throw from an infielder to first be anything but perfect. Everything else though is working just beautifully.

also, with errors maxed, right now i do see a few throws a game that cause the first baseman to lift up one leg and stretch for high throws...looks cool. oh yeah...i'm playing on HOFLast edited by brrmikey; 03-16-2006, 12:09 PM.Comment
