I was excited about the inning being over, but Pena jogged toward the bag, instead of 20 feet in front of him. Now this was a high pop up, so he had all day, instead my CATCHER takes off towards the ball. He almost got there (thats how high it was). Ball drops between the two, Lowrie scores, I lose 6-5 as I dont score in bottom half and get swept at home AGAIN. Knight have you seen this before or should i just make myself happy and tell myself Pena lost it in the white roof? LOL. BTW 4 doubles 2 games in a row after having 13 in 24 games! Now a fantastic 1-7 in 1 run games and 0-3 in extras.
Occasionally there are some little weird things that happen like that. Not the norm...so I just chalk it up to the baseball Gods and move on.
Sucks that you lost like that though...but I like your thinking....lost it in the roof! Nice!

One thing I must tell you to be wary of...

If you go to the bullpen and go to do a double switch....DO NOT EVER CANCEL it...there is a glitch that throws you out of the game completely....all the way out to the Cross Media Bar.....like a crash to desktop.
I don't know if it happens just in manage only mode...but I'd hate to see you guys lose a game(not LOSE in like a win-loss...but lose as in "where the eff are my keys!) like this and have to do it all over.

I watch every pitch, walkup, catcher throwback, etc. so games run anywhere from 90-150 minutes each. With a 2 year old and a wife on my back i'm lucky to get one game/day in. I really appreciate the advice, but that would be about a month setback for me. I REALLY WANT TO DO A FULL SEASON, NEVER HAVE!! I have played i bet 200 games overall so i know i can do it, not even remotely tired of it either. LOVE MoM!! Next year if its same setup, i will definitely use the adjusted OF speed rosters. 2b's my only "off stat." Heres some stats through 25 games if you are curious about your rosters default sliders except PCT +2 and CPU HOOK +4 (per reading your threads) Let me know what you think.

        Rays
RECORD 10-15 (1-6 in 1-run games, bad managing? ha, maybe but bad pen also)
        AVG .261
ERA 5.06 (Been rough without Kaz and Garza, both to be back very soon)
        HITS 224 (8.96)
        RUNS 107 (4.28)
2B 17 (0.68) EWW!! This is with 4 in game #25, my most yet
        HR 25 (1.0)
        BB 80 (3.2)
        K 192 (7.68)

Everything but MY RECORD and 2b's I can handle.
I'm pretty much in the same situation as you are (work, wife and kid) and wants to do a full season (and i've always been a manage-only guy).

I tought it would be interresting to post my stats after 25 games (like you did).
I am using the updates rosters (I'm daily updating all of the teams roster with the changes made in real life). I am using the MOM sliders mentioned in this thread.

        Team : Cleveland Indians

        RECORD 14-11
        AVG .246
        ERA 4.07
        HITS 211
        RUNS 100
        2B 30
        HR 26
        BB 51
        K 173

This is the year...25 down...137 to go.
And I gotta say, Knight165 and the guys who did the updated rosters have done one hell of a job !

Nice bullpen, good luck to us!! Long road ahead, i'll post stats again after 50 games (hope you do the same) maybe this will help us through the long season kinda "doin it together." 31 down for me as i got my Rays on their longest win streak to date at 5. I am smelling .500 at 15-16. I only play on avg. of about 5 games/week but the plan is to play all 162. I really hope next year we have the ability to watch any team, any game in franchise mode. I think it would be a refreshing break to watch your division rivals or just an interesting matchup.

Cool, let's post stats every 50 games and keep track of our franchises.
My team has been struggling for the past couple of games...
Since I play with real MLB roster, I just lost Jake Westbrook for the season...and travis Hafner is on the 15 day dl.
As of now, who's your mvp ?

Re: CPU vs. CPU (and MOM) discussion

Yep, hate when you lose your best players. I am doing the real day to day transactions for all teams the way they happened each day in real life. Just got Kazmir up

Some Hot and Cold players through 31 games

              Hot

              Crawford .322, 5 HR, 24 RBI, 13 SB
              Pena .273, 9 HR, 27 RBI
              Shields 4-1 2.26 ERA

              Cold

              Iwamura .180, 1 HR, 3 RBI
              Navarro .178, 2 HR, 3 RBI
Hammel 1-3 6.50 ERA (Kaz just took spot in rotation, Hammel to pen)

MVP so far? I would have to go with Crawford, he has come up with some crucial hits.

Least Valuable would be Iwa, he has struck out 30 times as my leadoff hitter and hasnt been making solid contact. Navarro doesnt have near as many AB's as he was on DL for 2 weeks. Would like to see some of your individual stats if you got time?

Re: CPU vs. CPU (and MOM) discussion

Here are some of my individual stats after 30 games (I might have time to play 2 tonite, my son fell asleep sonner then usual lol)

                G.Sizemore .318, 9HR, 21 RBI, 11 SB
                V.Martinez .256, 3HR, 14 RBI
                R.Garko .226, 6HR, 18 RBI
                J.Peralta .193, 0HR, 4RBI (and that's in 88 AB)
                C.Blake .189, 3HR, 6RBI
                A.Cabrera .236, 1HR, 4RBI
                F.Gutierrez .183, 0HR, 3RBI
                J.Carrol .287, 2HR, 8RBI, 7 SB

So, basically, Sizemore is doing all of the job

                My starters :

                C.Sabathia 3-2, 2.67
                C.Lee 1-2, 3.25
                P.Byrd 2-1, 3.96
                A.Laffey 1-4, 5.88
                J.Sowers, 2-1, 4.18

I'm using Masa Kobayashi as my closer and he's been doing great

                M.Kobayashi 1-0, 1.72, 10 saves

Can't wait to get Hafner and Carmona

Looks like you have several guys struggling at the plate, hope your pitching holds up for you while Haf is out. I'll update after 50, 32 down. Good Luck!

just wondering where you guys have cpu baserunner aggression set, at default for me i'm not seeing many try for 2nd base on sure doubles down the lines, i'm using roster with aub's reaction edits, i'm wondering if upping the aggression might help this.

I am at default but I am using Knights "unedited" roster. IMO this game just doesnt allow doubles down the lines very often. I would say 80% of mine are gappers. Just seems the OF gets to the ball too fast. Sorry I couldnt help, maybe Knight or someone who uses the edited roster has some advice. I'm just learning to deal with it and hope its addressed next year. I think I only have 27 2B's in 33 games, every other stat i love. Does get irritating when Carl Crawford pulls a hard one down the first base line and can't get 2 out of it though.

There is no difficulty setting in Manage Only mode. Your problem has nothing to do with the level you are playing on. It's CPU vs CPU (essentially). No difficulty level.

ok thanks, i'll try aggression at 20 for a while and see what happens, i wish there was a way to tell your runner to try for 2nd base on hits like that, guess it would take a pause in the game or something to give you the option, not likely we'll see anything like that though.

They could easily give us the ability to manage base coach calls by allowing us to flick the analog sticks.

Start by increasing CPU contact and power 5 notches to the right.

As an eventual solution, you will need to devise a strategy in your hitting where you can play at the higher skill levels. I know this may not seem helpful at the moment, but I think you are going to have a difficult time finding a balance at the rookie level. Read up about hitting strategies here on this board or start a thread asking people about their approaches. I like to guess on the fastball on every pitch and guess on the location that the hitter is hot in until I have two strikes, then I generally guess on the outside part of the plate.

Word of advice, when you are behind in the count (2 strikes and less than 3 balls) you get a pitch outside of the strike zone most, not all, of the time.

                                Good luck!
