Before you say anything, yes I do know that there were no extra base hits. What do you expect for only 9 hits in the game. There are rare occasions in real life when the game won't have any. That's why they have things called averages.

Well, my point here would be that the second game is the NORM I'm seeing almost every game. Low scoring, few hits, no doubles, bland. Your Game 1 box looks terrific and very realistic to what the Reds actually produce, so being able to get these results on a consistant basis would be wonderful. But the fact is, I'm seeing Game 2 type results almost every game and it's starting to grow stale. Four of my starters are currently hitting below .200. So these "averages" you speak of seem to be averaging out very poorly.

The problem doesn't seem to be the ability to get hits. It seems to be the lack of putting a string of hits together to score runs. I rarely, pretty much never, see "rallies". It's one hit in an inning, sandwiched between 3 easy outs. I seem to notice an over-abundance of weak, foul pop ups. Nobody seems to be able to put the bat on the ball.

I really do appreciate these tests though. Please continue them as long as you are willing to, as I would enjoy seeing if a trend develops. If you continue to experience Game 2 type results, then you'll see the frustration I am currently dealing with.

I'm going to test at least twice through the rotation so that I can get a better look at how everything is.

If you don't mind me asking, what are the slider settings that you are using?

I've tried raising the offensive sliders up 2 or 3 notches, using various combinations, and nothing has worked. I've since moved back to default and still see the same stale stuff. Your Game 2 is very typical. I will say, ironically, that I've seen more doubles on default than I have with the HQ and Power sliders raised. Still not nearly enough though(we're talking under 10 total in 20+ games). But then HR's go away on default.

              It's only a video game.

Notes: Cincinnati batted .263, Arizona .231. Cincinnati tied for 1st in home runs (9) with Chicago White Sox. There are two teams tied behind them with 8 apiece.

Cincinnati pitching averaging 6.33 strikeouts per game. Arizona pitching averaged 8.00 strikeouts.

Cincinnati had 42.3% of their hits be extra bases. That's means 57.7% were singles. Not bad so far although all but 2 were home runs.

Arizona hitters need to eat their Wheaties. The only extra base hits by them were the two home runs in game 1. However, in 2007, Arizona averaged only 1.77 2b/g and Cincinnati averaged 1.81 2b/g in 2007. Certainly, these teams aren't doubles machines.

Next up are the Philadelphia Phillies, who averaged 2.03 2b/g in '07.

Weather: Sunny, wind 5 mph in from right
Notes: Cincinnati batted .263, Arizona .231.

Hmm, a question someone else brought up to me.....

Are you playing on the PS2 or the PS3?

I really don't understand how you're seeing those kind of offensive numbers if it's on the PS3. I've played 20+ games and have yet to score more than 5 runs. Yet the Reds scored 10 in just your third game. I don't get it. The only thing I can suggest for myself is what others have said...to wait until I get out of ST and to the regular season. It doesn't make sense why the two modes would play differently, but with some of the strange anomolies this game has sometimes, I guess you never know. Looking forward to your continuing box scores.

Not that you asked me. I am playing on PS3. You've already seen my boxscores. I started a new season as the White Sox (randomly selected team), and played two games yesterday. When I get a second, I'll post the boxscores.

Yeah, I knew you were on the PS3. I would be interested in seeing what kind of results you get with some NL teams. Seems alot of your games are with AL teams, so I'm wondering if AL teams are rated much higher in offensive categories. In other words, I'm wondering if this is an attributes issue with certain lower end NL teams.

                        soxchamp,

Do you have an comments on the averages that I listed in my season. I am having a lot of trouble with pitching and producing runs. I dont know if I am producing to the potental of my team or if the results should be better then that? I am using the PS2

It's really hard to tell anything just by your averages without seeing how your games are going. Your pitching rankings are quite low, so it doesn't appear the CPU-controlled team is having any trouble scoring on you...which is completely opposite from what I'm seeing. Neither side is producing offense to me, and my team ERA is currently below 3.00. That's not very indicative of Reds pitching. :o

I am getting the same results or at least the same types of results (well within reality) whether I play with the Padres, White Sox or the Angels.

I'd suggest you make a copy of your franchise. End spring training and play a few regular season games just to see if that does indeed make a difference.

Or start a new season, end spring training right away and play a couple of games.

I'm on the ps2. I'm sorry that I didn't know that you had the ps3. Should I still continue the testing because these seem to be working quite well on the ps2.

I should be purchasing a ps3 within a month or so if things go right.

Here's a suggestion, though. You might want to try your next gen users (ps3 & xbox360)'s sliders here and in the dynasty hq forum and test them to see if they can be used with mom mode.

Also, could you please try these and let me know your findings after a few games (about a week or so worth of games). This would be a great help in trying to get a jump start on cpu/cpu sliders for the next gen consoles.

I am also thinking of starting not one, but two franchises in the dynasty hq forum. I will have one with Earl Weaver managing the Orioles and with Sparky Anderson managing the Reds (if that's ok with you). I'm a diehard Red Sox fan but I like playing with teams that are not as stacked and could be rebuilt or contend.

my game test #4 - Philadelphia (Kendrick) @ Cincinnati (Bailey)

I didn't bother to jot down the boxscore because I was exhausted after my work shift and actually fell asleep while in this game (6th inning).

However, the Phillies did hit 3 doubles and 2 home runs during the game and easily defeated the Reds. The Reds did manage a pair of doubles. Bailey only lasted 5 innings allowing 5 hits and two runs while striking out 3 and walking 3.
