Some games you might even see the % of singles to be around and over 80% based on the pitchers and the matchups. I saw the percentage that high in a bunch of box scores from last season. For example, a sinkerball pitcher will probably have a high groundball percentage, which one would tend to believe would cause more singles than extra base hits.
    Hey doncoryell,

I started w/ps2 and upgraded to ps3 last year. I still have last years game and am wondering whether it is worth it to upgrade esp if the focus was more graphical this year. I was pretty satisfied with the slider tweaks from last year but for the ps3 I had trouble finding a balance between less unbelievable rocket hits and HR's. In addition, I had a little issue w/the excessive use of the cutoff man. Now i have heard in these forums that if a players arm strength is increased it may result in less use of the cutoff. That seems like to me that the player would need a rocket arm to so this. I usually reduce arm speed alot in my player edits so i don't know if i would want to increase.

With that said, I would interpret excessive singles as there are fewer x-tra base hits and/or there are too many base hits and they are mostly singles... and this happens for an abundant amount of games regardless of pitcher. I find the sliders in the Show work real weird sometimes..sometimes it is as if they don't stay consistent for a long time and actually "shift" after a time. In any event the sliders I came up with were the best I could do at that time. I am glad that you enjoy the still. Perhaps we have a similar taste in how we like watching games. I have been tweaking sliders for MLB2k8 lately. I've been getting decent results. I like that game this year b/c of the ariel view. That has always been my favorite fielding view. I wish the Show would offer additional angles and include that in addition to high view.

    Sorry for the ramble

I recently played a game that had 23 hits total, and 21 were singles (that's a tad over 91% singles). Typically, I'm seeing between 80-90% singles per game.

I think the problem (at least for me) isn't as much the numbers but the fact that there are balls that should be doubles that are turned into singles by fast OF's. Balls down the line that in a typical major league game are doubles end up as singles on the Show. For me, the OF's are positioned too deep and are too fast so they get to balls that should be doubles and turn them into singles.
      MLB: Pittsburgh Pirates, Colorado Rockies
      NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers
      NHL: Pittsburgh Penguins
      NBA: Denver Nuggets, Orlando Magic
NCAA: Penn State Nittany Lions, Boston College Eagles

What is your current setting for the fielder's reaction slider? You may want to try lowering it until you are starting to see more hits going into the gaps.

I would say that if the only things that were done were cosmetic, then stay with the lower priced ps2 version.

If you want to take a look at how your ps2 sliders are doing, feel free to follow along with my Reds and Orioles franchise journals in the dynasty hq forum.

Bump - How has the manage only mode been working for everybody? Considering picking up a ps2 and this game just for MOM - is it worth it?

Re: CPU vs. CPU (and MOM) discussion

Does anyone have any good MOM sliders for the PS3, especially post-patch? I just picked up the game, and looking through this thread, I only see one post on sliders at the beginning and it is for MLB 07.

Just wondering if anyone has a good set of sliders to start a MOM franchise with. Any help would be appreciated!

Have you tried default? Or are you automatically assuming you need sliders?

According to several guys in this thread, default plays a very good MOM game. I can neither confirm nor deny this, as of yet.
                It's only a video game.

I think that it is worth it for the ps2. I also have a slider set that is working really good for the "old gen" consoles (ps2 & xbox). You can check my results with them in my two franchise dynasties in the dynasty hq forum.

Anybody else having pitch count problems on HOF default? My pitchers don't throw enough balls.

                      It's a 5:1 strike to ball ratio.

+5 on CPU arm strength has the OF'ers throw directly to the bases and home when they can/should. They will still use the cutoff man...but they will try and nail runners with this change.

So +5 would actually be 15 clicks from the left. Ok, I will check it out. It seems that this will make the throws come at rocket spd. I guess thats the trade off...

Here are some things that pop into my mind:

                                - walks WAY TOO LOW ... SCEA needs to work on this for next year, they really do.

                                - homerun numbers are low, too...

                                - How in the world did the team pitching totals for strikes come to '1', yet the team batting totals for strikes were '66'? I apologize if someone has already answered the post I am answering, I read a bunch of pages in before I couldn't resist posting any longer

                                - The Cubs struck out way more batters than the Brewers did, but the Brewers' team ERA was significantly better. Who won the series?
