Re: HOF Sliders (Project Nemesis MLB 08)
The high hit total, low run scenario is something that has plagued this game for a couple of years and seems to be more code related than adjustment related. There is only so much that can get adjusted with the sliders. Based on style of play some will see higher hit totals than others.“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment

Re: HOF Sliders (Project Nemesis MLB 08)
Nemesis,
I'm currently using Knights roster with no edits. Do you recommend using Knights rosters with the Aub's edits? In your opinion does that roster set work best with your sliders?
I would like to find a combo that makes hitting and pitching more difficult for me. I love the hit variation your sliders provide so I really don't want to mess with the slider numbers too much. I'm thinking maybe the edited rosters may give me what I'm looking for in conjunction with your sliders. However, I'm concerned the Aub's edits would reduce CPU hitting which is what I don't want. I use meter with ball marker on fade. All other aids are off.
Thanks for all your advice and time. I appreciate it.Comment

I like the one with the edits.....it just opens up the game a bit more IMO.
I'm actually going to be taking....my original no edits roster....updating it(transactions...and a few MINOR LEAGUE PLAYER) tweaks....then making some edits on the MLB players for better gameplay and more realistic(re...this years) stats. This is in NO WAY saying that TheAub didn't do a great job(he did as well as strut...Razr....all the guys involved)....but they didn't have the hindsight of half a season behind them....and TheAub did no contact/power changes(maybe some glaring problems) ....he stuck with the OF reaction speed edits.
I'm going to have to make a decision on whether I go with the already edited one and tweak it(I might do both) or just the original Full Minors....as somewhere in the process, some players were given(by accident...a flaw in the SCEA editor...not really the fault of the guy editing) the wrong throwing hand...and now it's stuck that way(SCEA's fault...for "locking" that) and I'm a stickler for things to be correct.
Just a heads up....

Re: HOF Sliders (Project Nemesis MLB 08)
If you bring down your hit quality to -10 and you are getting a lot of weak grounders then you are not as true as you think with your left stick aiming. Basically you are taking away the sweet spot of the bat and deadening it which causes the hit variety to increase. If you are not right on you can still make contact but it is not quality and you see a lot of weak grounders and pop ups.

Re: HOF Sliders (Project Nemesis MLB 08)
hey nem... nice new pic...
btw.... sliders are doin well right now.. currently 5-3 with sliders.... hope u dont mind me updating alot..... one thign though..... i've been averaging 9+ hits a game (run totals are down near 3-5 or less) my team BA for the league is .340 next is the tigers with .310
i dont use guess pitch or zones... any way to minimize my hit count??? (btw.. last 6 games hits were against tiger and boston pitchign staff thats why im worried)
I have 5 batters in the top 10 in BA (Guerrero, Hunter, Kendrick, Matthews, and Kotchman) and my three regular outfielders (Guerrero, Hunter, Matthews) are leading their respective position in All-star ballotting. I think I'm gonna try Nemesis suggestion of notching down the hit quality, but I'm afraid doing so might affect the All-star ballotting (heh heh). Alex Rios in RF and Guerrero are neck-and-neck in the All-Star race...
Oh yeah, Guerrero is batting .397
hmm...maybe it is time to bring the hitting down a notch... :|Comment

Re: HOF Sliders (Project Nemesis MLB 08)
Mr Knight, if one of your goals is to reduce the high batting averages, you might want to try adjusting the pitchers attributes instead of the contact/power attributes of the hitters. I lowered pitching clutch by fifteen and raised the h/9 by eight clicks and it worked pretty well. It is about half the work of adjusting the hitters and it yields some pretty good numbers. Just a suggestion.
I usually start with the pitchers....but wind up going through everyone anyway.I make small adjustments just to get each player to play more like this season and check for any glaring oddities.
Thanks for the heads up!....I'll give that a try to start.

Re: HOF Sliders (Project Nemesis MLB 08)
workhorses like knight wouldn't have to edit the hitting and pitching attributes and waste time on editing if scea didn't mess this one up. it's a shame.
I really think the pitcher confidence bar (not the PITCH confidence) is to blame (at least it's a part of the problem, another part are the sliders) Let's say a pitcher starts with the bar almost full (that is usually the case) and you get 1-2 singles (1) off him, his confidence is basically halfway down (sometimes more). That doesn't mean you can always tag these guys for 5-6 ER over 5 Innings, but you will see it's much easier to get on base, most of the time per hit, because when their confidence is down, their pitches are more over the plate and more hittable.
I am completely happy with the way I am pitching and the cpu-offensive production. In some games, I hold them to 3-4-5-6 hits and usually walk a few and in other games I can't get anyone out (12-14 hits for the cpu), anything can happen for the cpu. But even if I don't get many runs on the board, I always get my 7-8 hits/game at least.
It seems like SCEA did that because of "baseball-game rookies", I guess it would be too frustrating for little kids to learn the hitting system and sometimes only getting 1-2-3 hits per game.
I would be smiling (!) in show 08 if that would happen to me.
SCEA should do 3 things:
1. fix the pitcher confidence bar and lower total hit amount (no way a "normal" gamer should be hitting .280-.300+ in his franchise)
2. increase the amount of sliders (like a "balls/walk-slider") and make all of them work (like outfield-speed)
3. add another hitting-system or make it more difficult. If "free-swingers" want an unrealistic amount of hits per game...fine...then they should be playing rookie-level. And experts can play on "all-star" or "Hall of fame". One member of the scea-developing team said that on "hall of fame" only 10% of players should be able to win games, but that is not the case in the 08-version.
sorry for off-topic!Comment

Re: HOF Sliders (Project Nemesis MLB 08)
Heh...I think its because you're playing the Angels...they have so many good hitters in this game, I doubt its the sliders. I'm assuming you're playing the franchise as the Angels right? I'm at the beginning of June and I have a team batting average of .330. The Yankees are next with .305

hahahaha yea anderson leads my league with.412 BA, matthews leads team in hr's hahhaha it is relaly funny, napoili has a .400BA (but hasnt played 2 many games platoon role) Thxs for the suggestion of noting down the hit quality but im already at -10 on the hit quality.. hahahaha no more noting down.. now im 10-6 with the sliders... hmm but team BA is like .350 hahahFTP=PTFComment

Re: HOF Sliders (Project Nemesis MLB 08)
Great sliders Nem. Just lost a game 4-3 with the sliders and lost another 6-5.
The only problem I had was the pitch command so I put the pitch command slider up a 2 or 3 notchs and it was better."I like two teams. The Red Sox and whoever beats the Yankees."
