I've played close to 50-60 games with these sliders, and what I noticed over time, was when I adjusted my play to each game,(By adjusted I mean really taking into account the situation for pitching and hitting. And most, but not all of the time it helped),the opportunities for walks, and strike outs (for human). Also the walks and strikeouts (against human) were better.
Now I'm using the knight and friends rosters with aub edits. Really helps the overall play and feel. Also with the players attribute edits, your pitchers have less control, and so do the opposition. I now use mostly default command, and movement a little up pver default for cpu, and am having equal sucess to nems settings before these rosters. As mentioned by countless before me, the game works things out over time, not calculated or scripted, but you will play differently from day to day, and so will the computer. I walk 2-5 batters on cpu a game now, but that's mainly because they have been hitting better against me, and I can't force pitches over the plate when I 'm behind.
One last example. Rockies(me) vs padres--- record 6-8/10-3.
First game of series I had 8 full innings no-hitter going, with 4 walks given. I had 3 hr, 6 runs total. Got hit on(and teared up a bit) in the top of 9, and still won 6-1.
Second game of series, the trounced me 7-1, yet I only had 3 walks given, 2 taken and a load of xb hits, but they were all with 2 outs and not cashed in.
Over time in my experience, these sliders have proven to level the field a bit, maybe everyone has their minor adjustments, but it has given me the opportunity to make each game my own. if i play well, I win, If I paly poor I lose, but sometimes there's luck on either side as well.
I love the fact that with the new rosters and all the hard work there, as well as the countless hours of tweaking done by nem, others, and myself that this game is still rarely out of my ps3. That's the mark of a fun game, frustrating, hell yea, but fun. That's wha it's all about.
