Re: Blzer's All-Star Sliders and Settings

Rudy that's exactly why I am looking at 10+ games with these. That way I can get through the rotation twice. I am also playing spring training games with these so I get to see almost every pitcher on a team, plus I get to face some weak hitters as well.

the cpu throwing way too many strikes
Goblue, with strike % turned down to 0 there should be plenty of balls thrown by the CPU. I actually find it easier to draw walks this year than previous years. I had 4 in my 1st game (Damon 2, Jeter 1, Swisher 1) with these and 3 in my 2nd (Damon, Matsui, Duncan) including 1st inning leadoff walks in both games w/Damon.
If you're patient enough you will see the CPU throw balls.

Touche. For some reason, I couldn't get out of my head that I could actually delete the season afterward.

Thing is, I'll probably be telling myself it was a waste of time not having it enabled and I'll be too sad to delete it. Aw, bloody hell!

Either way, I can probably only squeeze one or two more games in tonight, and sadly not very many tomorrow through Wednesday. Of course, I say that now and procrastinate later, but oh well.

If anyone tried downloading it, can you confirm that it works?

EDIT: Oh, and I'm sorry, I made a typo. CPU Reliever Stamina should be at 0 (-5), not 5 (0).

I agree with your idea of -2 for fielder arm strength...it just seems like there are no close plays at first at all..I also added +1 for baserunner speed to make for closer plays on the bases..

I'm actually currently really digging these sliders. I gotta try a season like you guys said and post all of the box scores.

May take a while for me to get 10 games in, though.

How are these playing out for you guys? I really hate to get into the slider crap again but unfortunately Im sure its only a matter of time until its necessary so I figured I might as well start looking around now. How are the walk totals? Any feedback anyone else can give would be appreciated.

Re: Blzer's All-Star Sliders and Settings

I'm using sliders that started with these as a base and it's working out pretty good. The main difference is that I leave fielder reaction at default because I hate hitting singles and it seems like lowering this slider helps you hit singles more than it helps you hit doubles. Played all 21 games into the season.

My ERA is 4.5ish which is good.

I'm hitting too well (.294 BA). The weird thing is that, since I've lowered Solid Hits to -2, my XBH totals exploded. In the three games since, I've had 14 doubles and my only two triples ever in 09. I lowered them again to -3 and we'll see what happens.

Drawing walks is a little too easy. I get about 2-3 walks per game where I only need to watch five pitches or less. Had a 10 walk game today. My totals are actually fine, but I could see a more patient player taking advantage.

Pitching walks is okay. I'm number one in walks allowed, but not all of the time so it's not like I'm in the lead by a huge margin.

Power probably needs to come down a point as I'm fifth in the league in HR as the Mariners. It may be a case of the strike frequency being too low. A patient player will get a hitter's count, at least, 75% of the time and the pitches down the middle are easy to crush.

The only total that is out of wack from the rest of the league (besides putouts which is always inflated for played games) are my GIDPs. I have 32 while the next highest team has 19. I'm going to use batter influence and push up from now on in all GIDP situations. I'm hoping it will lower my BA as well.

Good suggestions, man. I'll take everything into consideration when I can get more play time perhaps on Wednesday.

They should work just fine. The only difference may be in the user pitch control and consistency. From what I'm reading and briefly experienced, meter pitching is much harder this year and more difficult to use than Classic. You might want to drop user pitch control and consistency 3-5 points when switching to Classic. I guess it depends on how good you are at pitching with the meter.

Well here were two straight games with the same sliders. Here were the results:

Webb personally owned me (only gave up 6 hits in I think 7 2/3), but he was getting gassed and their bullpen gave up a couple. I just left a few too many pitches over the plate, and Reynolds and Young took advantage all day.

I'll put up my edits as well as a new save file.

Blzer, I'll give your updates a try tomorrow and let you know what I get. I think All-Star plays better from what I've seen so far. I've noticed pitchers seem to mix pitches up better on All-Star. I played on HOF earlier and kept getting about 3-4 fastballs in a row.

Re: Blzer's All-Star Sliders and Settings

It's not uncommon to see that on All Star either, but they don't do it unless they're having trouble getting the zone, really. Either that, or their fastball is their hot pitch at the moment or something.

These games were great, and were only coincidence that they were one run games. They both played very differently (as you can tell), where the leagues, the parks, and the pitchers all had a very different style of play in the end. There was never a "comeback" feeling at any time during either of these games. The only thing that I did feel though was the effects of the pitcher's stamina late in the game, which makes me want to test the hook slider in the game. Meaning, I may raise the CPU pitcher stamina if that means I can get them out of the game just a wee bit earlier than half past dead-arm.

I really like what people had to say about some suggestions and tests towards sliders like timing, solid hits, fielder reaction, and pitcher control, and took them all into account from my past sliders. Obviously I'm still testing, but I feel that much closer now.
