As much as I love these sliders and the work you put into the game I have to respectfully critique. As I mentioned before on HOF pitching Acc and Consistency on 5 is too easy to lead the league in ERA and Whip ect.. For your franchise it's hard to believe that the Royals would trade both Hosmer and Cain and would the Rays ever send the Yankees Chris Archer? So far in my Franchise with the Trade slider left alone it still works with some teams sellers and some buyers.. With the slider turned up it seems like everyone is selling and alot of unsim trades are produced. Just my opinion. Like I said I use your sliders every year and my opinions are just my own. Thanks again A&S.

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 17 Timed/Classic Simulation All-Star Slider
I would like to start off by saying thank you for producing these sliders because this is the most fun I have ever had with this game.
I am getting close to the end of June in my play 162 Orioles franchise. I am in first place with a 7.5 game lead and I believe my record is 41-28 at the moment. Without being in front of my system. I believe I'm around 18th in batting average, 15th in runs, and leading in homeruns by three. My ERA is 16th in the league.
Mark Trumbo is leading in MVP voting. He leads the league in batting average and Home Runs. (I believe he has 25 or 26). Dylan Bundy is a candidate for Cy Young as he is amongst the leaders in wins and ERA.
The amount of variety with these sliders is absolutely ridiculous. Hall of Fame Pitching has changed this game for me. I had two shutouts within three games and the following game I allowed ten runs on 16 hits. I was worried about the amount of homeruns I was hitting initially but I have to remember its the Orioles and they have an all or nothing approach and I just recently went through a stretch of maybe ten or so games where I had only hit a couple.
I can't wait to see how the trade deadline goes. I need to make a move for a great starter to make a final run for a world series before this group breaks apart.Comment

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 17 Timed/Classic Simulation All-Star Slider
I wish I had your problem. I literally must be doing something completely wrong and opposite of most everyone in here when it comes to pitching. I can't locate for **** a majority of the time and it doesn't matter if I'm facing Boston, Tampa Bay, Oakland or a AA lineup they rake off me more often then not. I don't get the feedback given regarding my pitch thrown, don't see a correlation between individual batters ratings and results on the field (ie. guys with 25 discipline yet work counts and don't chase anything yet guys with 70 discipline will chase more often), confidence swings way too wildly and causes all sorts of issues the moment it starts to dip, I literally have no idea what to do to turn things around as I feel like I've tried everything I can think of. To top it off I've got control and consistency at 6 each and I'm still all over the map, I'm talking throwing a fastball down and away and Felix misses up and in and that's with tapping the button, which supposedly increases control but apparently not for me.
I mix in as many pitches as I can. I will also start tapping for breaking pitches at two strikes.
I'm doing all of this and my team ERA is sitting at 3.88

What I do is hold the button down as close as I can get to the vibration without the vibration

Playing another game at KC, down 3-1 in the 4th. This series reminds me A LOT of the series with Oakland. Terrible lineup suddenly performing better then they should, getting constant hits, driving the ball into the alleys with regularity while everyone on my staff decides they couldn't throw a pitch anywhere near their target no matter how much effort I put on a pitch. I simmed that series as I had enough and I'm about to sim this one, furthermore that's not organic at all it's clear as day what's about to happen in games like this and can be predicted with near certainty.Comment

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 17 Timed/Classic Simulation All-Star Slider
My team ERA is right around 4.50, I'll try that as I need to figure this out or I'm gonna trade the game in, there's zero fun in feeling like I'm playing a game but not actually playing it and am just watching the CPU either hit me hard or do nothing, no variance at all. It's either that or I'm jacking control & consistency up to 10 as this complete lack of any control I'm experiencing is driving me up a wall at this point.

In my franchise I have the guys I expect pitching well (Dylan Bundy, Kevin Gausman, Zach Britton) meeting expectations and I have spot starters with ERA's near 6 and 7. My long reliever has an ERA over 5.
My point is maybe you should make some moves and get different guys. Hall of Fame is hard but it shouldn't be that difficult. It has to be something you're doing but obviously I can't tell you because I can't see you doing it lol

Try what I told you at first. I would keep in mind that you are the Seattle Mariners lol. And from what I'm hearing you are dealing with a lot of injuries. It may be a case where you need to sell the team and get some young stud prospects.

As for making moves I'm past the deadline. I wish I could go back as I'd blow this sorry *** team up with a quickness starting with the overpaid Felix Hernandez and his 4.60 ERA. I might go back to AS, clearly HOF isn't meant for me as the way games play out is so sporadic that I just can't find any balance.Comment

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 17 Timed/Classic Simulation All-Star Slider
Only injury I have is to Iwakuma but brought in Sonny Gray so it's at best a wash there. I tried what you said and while I didn't give up a bunch of hits like the previous game they still managed to consistently get timely hits and now that they aren't lacing the ball everywhere my offense has vanished. This is the story since moving to HOF, I can't have a single game where both my offense and pitching produce, it's always one or the other. I actually have 3 SP's with a rating above 80 and Felix hovering around 90 so this is a little idiotic that nobody can locate. It's one thing to have it happen sporadically but when it happens more often then it doesn't then something is off.

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 17 Timed/Classic Simulation All-Star Slider
I will tell you I stayed on all-star after a quick try on HOF and have been loving every min of this game. Yeah I do over power the cpu with my pitching some games and have the 6th best era in the league but all games are competitive. I am only 5 games over 500 in mid August and 2 games out of a wild card spot. The reason I stayed on all-star was I can't put up enough offense to win when pitching on HOF. It's not that I got shelled every game it was I just can't score a lot of runs I'm 22nd in average and 8th in HR. I would tell you go back to all-star and enjoy the game again. In my last 4 games I have gave up 24 runs on all-star pitching. So you will still give up runs.

The only problem with moving to AS for pitching is I was 17-9 that month and only gave up 3.69 R/G so the CPU offense wasn't doing much and the wild pitches were out of this world then. Basically I have to trade one irritation for another so no matter what I do I'm stuck having to just deal with it and try and ignore it.Comment

How often do you listen to the catcher? If you can learn to ignore him, you'll have more success, especially when he calls for 2seamers and sliders up. I keep those down almost exclusively. Well my intent is to keep them down at least, but as you know with classic, it doesn't always end up where you want it. I've gone to a follow his suggested pitch type but I decide the location. SDS really needs to redo their pitch location logic because the entire point of a 2seamer is for it to be beaten into the ground. It's not designed to be thrown up in the zone.

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 17 Timed/Classic Simulation All-Star Slider
Yeah I may have too, this HOF thing feels scripted at times and it's completely sucking the fun out of playing. In my series with KC I've lost 3-1, 10-5 and 3-1...notice a trend there? I pitch and the offense vanishes, I score and the pitching goes to ****, like I said it's been this way ever since I went to HOF for pitching. It almost feels like games are being kept artificially close, maybe I'm pulling at straws but can't ignore the fact that those scores I mentioned are FAR more the norm then anything else. This last game I went 2/28 hitting and literally couldn't get anything going at all, the CPU got nearly every borderline call possible and I didn't get much at all when I was pitching. It's maddening to know you're gonna lose a game just not sure if it's going to be because the pitching can't locate or the lineup suddenly forgets how to hit, usually I'll know by the end of the second inning which way it's headed and normally it plays out exactly as I expected it too.

As for the game outcomes themselves. I referenced a series with Oakland earlier in the season. They were and still are the worst team in the AL, 2nd worst in MLB and I figured it would be an easier series. I had Sonny Gray on the mound and I proceeded to lose 6-3 while Oakland had 16 hits off me. It wasn't just the volume of hits but what hits they got that irritated me to no end. I decided to sim the remaining 3 games of the series in which I won them all by scores of 4-2, 8-2 and 4-1 or in other words they scored a combined 5 runs in the other 3 games of the series. It's as if the sim engine took away the variable outcome that is prevelant in played games and results were more accurate to expectations. Fast forward and here I am facing the same thing with KC, poor lineup yet results are opposite. I would almost guarantee if I sim the rest of this series I'll win both games.
EDIT - I tested it and didn't save after that last game, reloaded the game and simmed that same game. Oddly enough I was able to win 6-0, I swear the sim engine is more true to ratings than actually playing the game is lol.
In June I had 750 win% then in July I was 500 all on all-star and so far in August I'm 3 games over 500. Just because you had a great month at 17-9 doesn't mean it will stay like that. Most teams IRL have a great month even bad teams and if Hof is making you crazy go back to all-star and enjoy.

When pitching on All Star, are your sliders exactly as posted? Or, have you made some tweaks? If so, please post them.Comment
