Haha yeah I couldn't imagine playing with a team that is average or worse in pitching. It would be super frustrating. I've never played with a team other than the Mets mainly because I don't have the time but I've always been curious if I played with a crap pitching team would my team suck. I've always pitched on HOF no visual aid/no warm up pitches/no vibration and had to reduce human control and consistency a bit. Hitting has been a struggle for sure in the past but never pitching for me.

If I didn't have a power hitting offense I would be in last place easily

It's definitely a struggle. The only reason I'm in first and winning plenty of games is because Mark Trumbo has hit 28 homes run through the end of June.

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 17 Timed/Classic Simulation All-Star Slider
Holy hell haha. I've actually never finished a full season in the show actually. I've gotten into the last month twice but I play every pitch of every game and watch most cut scenes. I finished a season and World Series once with MLB 2k8 or something on Xbox. I'm a sucker for presentation and commentary and at the time I loved that game, plus it was competitive toward the end. I notice in the Show I end up running away with the division and then I get bored and find other fulfillment in life. For the most part, my logic is as long as the CPU stays competitive and keeps things interesting or I don't run away with everything, I don't care about stats. So Trumbo hitting 28 through June is damn impressive but if your league is competitive who cares! That's where I get my enjoyment. Stats aren't irrelevant but a byproduct of a good competitive game.
These sliders have made the game great for me and I think this will be the first time I finish a 162 game season. I'm looking forward to the off-season because I plan to start a rebuild with the aging core I have

The league is very competitive. The division isn't as much because I'm the only team above .500 but I'm almost positive my team will not win the world series this year as is because I get ran over by the stronger teams.

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 17 Timed/Classic Simulation All-Star Slider
Can someone explain to me why my pitchers confidence in his fastball bottoms out after an intentional walk? They need to devote the entire next cycle to pitching as it's horrible. Pitch around a guy? Confidence drops. Intentionally walk someone? Confidence drops. Both are considered smart baseball moves yet the game doesn't view it that way and I get penalized because of it. In all the years I've played this seems to have always been a problem but they refuse to even acknowledge it let alone tweak it so it's accurate on some level.Comment

Nobody wanna take the time to answer my question about sim sliders?
I am enjoying all of the other posts and input about franchise. Just got the game last week. I'm the Rangers. Middle of June and I'm 8.5 games out of first. I'm around 500 when I play but get shelled when I sim. Was just curious if I need to adjust sliders for simming.

Hockey and baseball are my fav sports. Try playing NHL 17. HOLY HELL do you wanna talk about a game that doesn't represent the sport. It's embarrassing. HOWEVER, I adjusted sliders for months on end and eventually completed an entire season last year only to lose 4-1 in the first round to the damn 8th seeded Devils.Comment

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 17 Timed/Classic Simulation All-Sta
One workaround I have used to counter the drop in confidence is do a mound visit after an IBB or a 'pitch around'. It helps regain some confidence. Seriously I think this game is completely amazing and as close as I could have ever hoped for in a VIDEO GAME! sure I have my little issues with the game but that's the way it is. No offense, but reading some of your posts are exhausting chef. I can't imagine having the frustration u r having and either #1 keep playing the game and having the same issues or #2 lower the pitching to suit YOUR needs. Basically I feel bad for you cause, IMO, this game is as good as we could ever hope for man. #exhausting

I'm playing a game now down 4-2 and I use auto fielding and auto throwing, always have. Had another issue pop up, I pick off Trout on first, I mean he was so picked off he didn't even register the throw over so instead he takes off for second. I mean he's dead to rights.....then my guy lofts it down to second and he's safe. Of course then with 2 outs Cron gets a single and Trout scores when the inning should have been over.
This might be the best baseball simulation on the market but why on earth are we months after release and stuff like that hasn't been fixed? The only thing I can come up with is it took 118 games for me to see this happen so QA probably never saw it themselves BUT I know it's been mentioned here on OS that if you get picked off just run for second as the CPU does the same thing in terms of lofting it down there so I don't understand why it hasn't been fixed.
EDIT - Forgot to address the mound visit lol. I do that but some pitchers either don't gain anything or they drop, for instance Scribner as he never has a gain in confidence from a mound visit. Realistically we shouldn't be forced to waste our one mound visit to talk the guy off the ledge when he intentionally walked a batter. Game one of my series with LA I had runners on 1st and 2nd, 2 outs and Trout up. If he hits a single the guy at second is scoring regardless, a double and they have the lead. I figured it best to walk him and go after Cron hitting a shade under .250 at the time. So that's what I did, smart move to make Cron beat me and not Trout. Suddenly, my CP Diaz, who was on fire, watches his fastball completely bottom out in confidence, I call a mound visit and his overall confidence goes up a little but nothing in his fastball. So now I'm stuck, figure he can hopefully get the last out as I don't have a better option to bring in, instead he serves up a grand slam and I lose 5-2. All because I walked Trout for the better matchup, that's the smart baseball move but according to the game it was idiotic and I was penalized as such.Last edited by The Chef; 06-17-2017, 10:45 PM.Comment
