    Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 17 Timed/Classic Simulation All-Star Slider

So I've hit the 40 game mark in my season with the Angels and a couple things have jumped out at me. I am first in HR by quite a margin and top 5 in runs scored, but last in Avg and doubles. I have about 20 pitches per game that I have good timing on a pitch around the middle square of the plate that doesn't seem to result in enough decent hits, BA/doubles... does anyone else have an idea how often they get good timing on meaty pitches without getting a hit?

Overall I'm debating switching power down 1 and solid hits up 1. Thanks for any input.

I haven't started my Orioles franchise yet (this weekend!), but I have played a number of exhibition games to get a feel for things. There are certain games where I square the crap out of a bunch of balls, and they're hit right at people. Then there are other games where all of those are getting hit into the gap or out of the yard. Seems pretty realistic for me, of course there's not really such a thing as too many HRs when you play as the Orioles. That's all we hit.

        Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 17 Timed/Classic Simulation All-Star Slider

I have been playing my 1987 Road To The Show big time. So I am actively working on a solid RTTS slider set.

I also think I am going with a AA set approach, then a AAA set approach and then a MLB set approach when it happens.

I feel being so low level to start the game can be unforgiving and I am seeing a way to just tweak hitting sliders so the experience is not cheap, but also not a chore. Fun is the key and the by product will be realism.

As a disclaimer I do use equipment boosts, Showtime and perks.

For me this is a fun mode and I am highly addicted this year. I love the conversation choices and narrator.

So a little about my myself. I am an 18 year old 3B prospect. I had two great days in the scout games and combine.

With the 18th pick the New York Yankees chose me!!!! A dream come true for me. I was 17 back in 1987 so this is a surreal RTTS and I could not be happier or more excited.

After a full month in AA Trenton my manager came to me about a move to RF, I said anything to help the team win, but I had some apprehension of course.

Low and behold, I love playing the OF a lot more on RTTS then infield. First off, it is fun and I get far more action out there than I did at 3B. And I am playing better in the OF.

I do have some heavy weights ahead of me in the system as well as up in the Show.

RF in The Show is HOF Dave Winfield.

Also Jay Buhner, Gary Ward, as well as Bernie Williams are in the system. Deion Sanders is a CF prospect and both he and Bernie along with LF Dan Pasqua are my teammates (as well as Hal Morris, Kevin Mass and Jim Leyretz).

This is an amazing mode made even better by Jethrotull's amazing 90 man 1987 roster.

Be patient. I will release a AA minor league RTTS set in the coming weeks. Once I am promoted to AAA I will then work on that level. And then of course a Major League level (which will most ,likely be the OP set).

I was watching the braves game yesterday. And there was 6 or 7 pitches that bounced and got away from the catcher that runners advanced on. So in happens in real life to. I was lol watching the game and thinking about the show

That is awesome Armor! RTTS this year really is a blast imo also. I love not having my choice of teams to go to, or the fact I could be moved around the field. Your sliders are a good set too. I leave it on All-Star and it's been good for me. I get a good deal in AA, and then AAA really makes me work, then when/if I hit the show, it is really overwhelming. I love the levels adjusting as you go higher up the ladder. Look forward to more posts about your RTTS guy.

                  Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 17 Timed/Classic Simulation All-Star Slider

Just wanted to put in my two cents as I've had a different approach regarding the CPU being anemic on offense with Armor's sliders. As he has always mentioned, these are a base and everyone is different. I've been using the clean screen, no vibration, no strike zone, and no pitch confidence for years. I prefer to go on "feel" so to speak. Truth be told I am one of the few who hits on a custom broadcast behind the pitcher camera angle with a clean screen, as well. I've noticed the more you raise the CPU's contact, power, and/or timing or jump difficulty levels, it becomes real difficult to strike them out and they don't chase anything. I do leave solid hits at 5 for both CPU and human, but my main approach is to lower the human pitching consistency and control. I play with both of them at 2, and that helps with not only human walks, but the CPU being rewarded with more offense because you cannot consistently paint the black this way. Middling relievers should, and do, get beat up when I play this way. It can be a struggle but it also allows me to dive deeper into my roster and call somebody up and really explore my pitchers. My approach is I want to send a pitch in an area and that's where I aim the stick. You definitely can still paint the corners here, just not as often and once your pitch counts get up, be careful, especially in a close game. For me personally, even with a clean screen and no vibration, you can paint the black way too easily in this game with the human pitching sliders, and even on this set too. By lowering human pitching sliders, you can still strike out the CPU at at a nice clip as they chase, but boy if your pitcher isn't on, they will crush you with these CPU hitting sliders as they are set here.

How do you sim the other games on the day of yours that you are playing? Do you sim all the games that start before your match then load the game sliders and play your game or sim all the days games then load the game sliders to play your game?

So with 30 team control you must sim all the day's games before yours to get the score ticker updates while you play. So I load in the sim/quick manage slider...sim each game, then load in the gameplay slider set and play my game. Then before I advance the day I again load in the sim/quick manage set because my minor league games have yet to be simmed till I advance the day.

In single team control...I use the same method as well.

OK sorry for all the questions but I'm a bit confused. Decided to go more clean screen so got pitch select display off.. Now pitch confidence is on as per your settings... Now how do I actually see the pitchers confidence (and energy for that matter?)

I moved down Control to 2 and finally lost a game. I didn't want to touch contact because that seems good for CPU vs CPU. Though i upped CPU consistency and control back to 5.

So I started to use auto-fielding for a few games and wanted to know why some choose this option over assist (manual) fielding? So far the only benefit that I've seen from auto is better overall fielding animations, which are awesome. Just seems to take some of the enjoyment of having a say in the outcome of plays that actually require the fielder to make the correct judgments on balls in play.

                            Thoughts?

Because we want the player ratings to be the primary driver of the results. We still make all the throws and stay involved. But the animations are quite simply incredible with auto fielding and you get a broadcast quality game.

I obviously manually field on Diamond Dynasty and RTTS.

But in franchise.....this is my preferred setting. Again play the game they way you love to. It's all about your personal enjoyment. And on the OP Stealyerface was kind enough to share his personal manual fielding settings.

I love these sliders, but I do have a couple issues that I would like some feedback on.

First, how in the world do I prevent the CPU from taking the starter out so early? I have tweaked the manager hook slider to basically 0 and they still take him out no matter what.

Secondly, does anyone get picked off every time they leadoff? It's so frustrating. I have 1 stolen base in 8 games and every other time I've been picked off. Very annoying.
