Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 17 Timed/Classic Simulation All-Star Slider
I'm 6-0 in my yankee franchise with these...had one nail biter but the rest were not close... are these too easy for me or do I need more of a sample size?Comment

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 17 Timed/Classic Simulation All-Star Slider
I love these sliders, but I do have a couple issues that I would like some feedback on.
First, how in the world do I prevent the CPU from taking the starter out so early? I have tweaked the manager hook slider to basically 0 and they still take him out no matter what.
Secondly, does anyone get picked off every time they leadoff? It's so frustrating. I have 1 stolen base in 8 games and every other time I've been picked off. Very annoying.

I can't answer this as in full count games (and I have plenty of members here who have been tuning into my streams nightly, daily etc and have seen me play dozens upon dozens upon dozens of franchise games) playing every pitch I have not encountered this issue......at all.
If you are playing on quick counts it is a well known potential bug and SDS is investigating it.
So for everyone.....I can't answer this question as it is not happening to me.
So please I beg all of you to stop asking about this on this thread.
On the second point. Stealing is no joke this year. I can tell you you must absolutely look at the player quirks and make sure you don't have a pickoff artist on the bump when you take that one extra step from the default lead. Stolen bases are earned with this slider set...and don't come easy and only true base stealers are going to have a high success rate. And even with great base stealers you must get a great jump (which sometimes does not happen) and go on the right pitch. The catcher matters to. SO many variables play into it.
As far as getting picked off. Again be careful whom you are taking that extra lead on. And if the pitcher throws over a few times with that extra lead and you are diving back in safe...fatigue from that can set in and if you keep taking the extra step you very well may be picked off.
If you feel it's too tough click down the CPU pick off slider back to default 5 from 6. Still too tough on default? Go down to 4 till it plays the way you want.
Have fun with it!!!Last edited by Armor and Sword; 04-17-2017, 03:14 PM.Now Playing on PS5:

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 17 Timed/Classic Simulation All-Star Slider
Because we want the player ratings to be the primary driver of the results. We still make all the throws and stay involved. But the animations are quite simply incredible with auto fielding and you get a broadcast quality game.
I obviously manually field on Diamond Dynasty and RTTS.
But in franchise.....this is my preferred setting. Again play the game they way you love to. It's all about your personal enjoyment. And on the OP Stealyerface was kind enough to share his personal manual fielding settings.
Using the Reds and I've got Winker and Schebler on the corner OF spots (Duvall is hurt). My god....they can really mis-play (butcher) some balls...but when they come back and make great diving catches, it becomes a "fist pump" moment. Then to see the elite guys make great plays....just ungodly....
For me, I don't want to be able to turn a guy with a 50 fielding rating into an 80 fielder strictly by means of my 'stick skills' in Franchise. I want my roster decisions to matter, my development approach to matter, my defensive positioning to matter. If I have a crappy fieder out there, I want to pay for it....
But....I have to be involved in the game as well....I just can't do manager mode (I fall asleep...lol). Having auto-fielding on is a wonderful compromise between maximizing the 'ratings matter' approach while staying involved in the game. I want 'stick skills' to matter as little as possible...not because I don't have them, but because when my guys outperform or underperform their ratings, it just creates such a wonderful storyline within the little world I have created within my franchise....in my own mind, it feels 'tainted' somehow when I know I have influenced the results too much.
But, like Armor has said, you have to do what makes YOU happy...the fact that we have SO many wonderful options in how we play the best sport in the world is a testament to the terrific job the devs do with this series every year!!Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

Play 20-25 games. Even that.....not a real true sample size in a 162 game season. You can have a scorching hot month then go ice cold the next.
You can get some key injuries, have guys going through hot and cold streaks, you can get into funk yourself hitting or pitching. So many variables.
Just keep playing and enjoy the game. Stop looking for stuff.
Play the game. Now Playing on PS5:

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 17 Timed/Classic Simulation All-Star Slider
OK sorry for all the questions but I'm a bit confused. Decided to go more clean screen so got pitch select display off.. Now pitch confidence is on as per your settings... Now how do I actually see the pitchers confidence (and energy for that matter?)

You gotta feel it. You gotta know what pitches are working and not working as you play the game. Simply press d-pad right and then hit R1 and check you strike ratio on your repertoire. Pitch confidence is not a perfect system. It is basically predicated on throwing strikes (foul balls count too) with said pitch. If your strike percentage is low...your pitcher will not have as much confidence in the pitch and therefore you are more susceptible to being mashed when you throw it as well as leave it up in the zone and out over the plate to be crushed. Now Playing on PS5:

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 17 Timed/Classic Simulation All-Star Slider
Love your sliders on Madden, 2k17, and again here in MLB the show. I have a question with pitcher stamina for the cpu. I have it stamina at 7 for CPU and pitcher still gets pulled in the 5th with 0-0 ties,, 3 htis etc. Any suggestions, bump up stamina?Comment

Cano has 11 homeruns in 18 games and I have 43 total. Time to be concerned?"I know losing feels like kissing your sister, but the way were playing it feels like kissing a really hot step sister!"-Billy Bob Thorton from the Bad News Bears

Cano is right in that range....now, if he keeps that pace and hits 22 in his first 36 games....yeah....you might want to tweak things for your own purposes.Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment
