No not at all. It depends on how good the ratings are for the player. The better the contact the more plate coverage he'll have. If you will notice even if you don't push the stick and swing at something out of the zone, the hitter will try and get the barrel on the ball. In other words he will try and extend is arms or pull the bat in to hit the inside pitch. This is all ratings here but will get you a very good variety of hits.

It is better to look in the zone of course for the best contact (LRL). But you can still hit balls out of the zone regularly trying to protect and drive that outside pitch into the opposite field.

Should that be moving at all based on whether I go inside or out? I am used to Zone hitting, so maybe that is what is throwing me off.

If you're using directional all you do is aim Up, Down, Left, or Right and swing when you think you can hit it. I have good and bad games with it. Do you mean should your character be moving? Sorry just for clarification.

Ok, I'm definitely starting to get it now after playing a couple games with it. Just going to take some practice since I have been using zone for years. Hard to break my normal hitting habits! But I think I like this better so far.

I hardly ever use it except for situational hitting. If I'm trying to move a runner over or trying to hit a sac fly things like that.

Just posting a pic of another fun game with these sliders. This was my best hitting game so far using these.

Are you guys striking out a realistic amount of times? My strikeout total seems fairly low. Do you think one notch down on the timing slider would help?

What's your sample size? (How many games played), I'm seeing me and CPU get anywhere from 5-8 depending on who's pitching (and my lack of discipline), which I think is about avg for most teams in MLB over course of a season

                        Thanks

I had this issue too, took another members advice and payed attention to trends. Don't pitch guys the same way twice (Especially power hitters), my 2nd or 3rd time through I was getting touched up for long balls, change it up and they are less likely to square it up, the really good ones will still get hits in gap, and or hr but less likely overall. At least what I've seen so far

I know Armor messed with timing a bit and it really seemed to de-sync things. I've had games with 2-3 Ks, others with 12+ Ks. It depends on matchups, the opposing pitchers, the umpire, and sometimes just dumb luck. Get LOTS and LOTS of sample size....as Armor says, "trust the sliders".

I use it in two strike counts when I am desperate to get a baserunner and am using a player with good contact ratings. Basically, the times in real life where a player will 'shorten his swing'...this is when I will use it.

OK...another "trust the sliders" one.....just keep playing. But one tip....if you get behind in the count, don't be afraid to give up a walk. If I am down 3-0 to a good hitter, I will not throw him one down the plate (unless the bases are loaded). You have to mix speeds and locations both inside and outside the zones. I know it seems obvious, but the thing with this game....it mimics real life. Pitchers get nailed because they either hung a pitch, missed their spots, became predictable or simply got beat by a better hitter. You have to work your way through the lineup differently every time....but limiting the longballs tends to also result in other things happening...and boom, there comes your variety.
Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.

I just finished Red Sox (me) vs Tigers. Sale had 9Ks and Verlander had 7Ks. Verlander was having an bit of an off-day - I drew three walks off him because he was having control issues. I scored 2-runs on him and then the Tigers bullpen gave up three more. I won 5-3. There was only 1-HR in the game, a fly ball by Mookie Betts that the wind seemed to carry out.

Quite unlike the game I played before that one - Braves (me) vs Mets. Syndergard fanned me 9 times, a lot of them looking and they lit-up Julio Tehran for 6-runs off 3 HRs (I lost 7-1.) The umps kind of affected both games - in the Sox-Tigers game he was calling a really tight strike zone, but in the Mets-Braves game the strike zone was a lot wider, which caused me to get caught looking a lot.

I was the Dodgers going into Chicago in an Exhibition Daily Roster Game Of The Show, Jon Lester was pretty dominate i'd say from the jump, we got some hits, but couldn't capitalize on them, they forced our pitcher's into some good counts and they got a few in. i didn't feel i had a lot of patience tonight at the plate, i also was late on a lot of pitches this fish eye cam is taking sometime to get use to especially on curves, and sinkers. over all for 1 game, it felt sim, played a good game of baseball, i seen a variety of hits all over the field. I'll keep plugging at this game until i find my balance... appreciate the set brotha, game pace felt great.

                                edit...

almost forgot not one single home run, i almost hit one of those cinematic shots but it curved foul real quick. also my pitcher gave me a strong 5 he was gassed by then, so either i'm still not pitching right or wood, just didn't have his stuff, i really dont get this pitching thing still I've read the threads, all i seen is a lot of opinions but no definite way on how to pitch classic mode, but i had to pull him on that last hit he gave to bring in the other 2.
