Armor, great sliders. I am stuck between AS and HOF hitting with these sliders. I am still muddling through enough games for a good sample size. How are your BBs looking? I admit I chase too many pitches (~20 per game according to the stats in the pause menu). I know there aren't any sliders that will limit me chasing, but are you getting decent BB numbers and about how many 'chased' do you get per game?

I will answer...and yes, if the matchups make sense, I'm seeing guys like Betances come in during the 8th like real life since we went back to the default manager hook value.

Now...I don't always see the strict '7th inning guy' and '8th inning guy' attitude you see in real life...the CPU managers are a little more fluid in their logic....but personally, I view that as a good thing.

I am good at drawing walks. I average at least 2 per game typically. Sometimes I draw 4-5 a game. And sometimes I run into a guy who is dealing (and the staff as a whole) and draw zero.

But drawing walks has been a non issue for me.

I don't chase too much most of the time, but like anything there are days I just don't have "it" whether that is on the bump or at the dish.

These sliders should be renamed to the Patience is a Virtue slider set.

i was getting down on myself for not hitting doubles, not hitting homers, not squaring up pitches... UNTIL i started to be patient. I started taking more pitches and getting into hitters counts. first 4 games of the season, 1 homer and 2 doubles. in my last game? 2 homers and 4 doubles. all because of letting the pitcher work himself into trouble and foul off tough pitches. its baseball in its purest form.... yea i lost but i didnt even care. sitting at 2-3 with the reds and couldnt be happier

HUM pitchers also don't have to pay enough for mistakes, and even with reduced control, they are generally very accurate.

In brief forays into HOF, I've noticed that there are far fewer mistake pitches and this has a huge effect on HUM offense overall. I've also noticed that CPU hitters are more consistently dangerous.

I think Armor has said that these play well on HOF. Maybe a move to HOF is warranted?

I thought originally that the move from All Star to HOF in MLBTS would be like the move from All Pro to All Madden in Madden (i.e., crazy things would happen and the CPU would get ridiculous boosts to compensate and create a "challenge"), but I found HOF in MLBTS to be very organic-feeling and ratings-based. I was able to get close games and blowouts for both HUM and CPU there, but with less mistakes for the CPU pitcher in general and more penalty for HUM pitchers' mistakes.
I think I'm going to have to make the jump to HOF this year for both hitting and pitching. I started a new franchise with the Gold sliders. Normally, I use Armor's sliders as a base and tweak from there, but I just don't lose in this year's iteration. Honestly, I don't care about the stats as long as I lose and there is some competition. I've started my franchise over 3 times and combined I'm 53-6. I'm not necessarily in the top 3 of hitting and pitching stats, but I'm def in the top ten for all of them, except HR, which I'm far and away better than any other team. Can anybody attest to HOF? Is the CPU's strategy just better? They will pitch me tougher and not chase pitches out of the zone? If I'm not changing any sliders, and just make the jump, what actually changes in the game? I'm assuming I'll still have gaudy HR numbers. I mean, the ratings don't change obviously so I'm not exactly sure what makes it tougher. I don't think this is a slider issue for me (for once), but for whatever reason, a difficulty issue.

Yeah you need to make this jump. 53-6 is no fun at all.

These will work great on HOF.

I tried HOF pitching last year and was getting pummeled. Hitting is tougher too with weaker contact and a smaller PCI.

My main issue was pitching became too easy for me.....but since I turned off the ball marker (something I did on and off last season) and turned off vibration....new world for me.

But please let me know how HOF goes for you. I am getting close to that jump as well myself (not yet). If I manage to win another World Series this year on All-Star and really feel like I have mastered All-Star I will make a jump to HOF as well.

I am a little ways off from that though.

Good luck!!! And enjoy the set on HOF.

Yeah I hear ya. I will go on a 8-10 game winning streak. Than I will finally lose a game and I actually get excited because I think to myself, here we go. A losing streak is coming. I'm going to slump. But it never happens. That has been the case for me this year. I'll win a bunch of games in a row, lose a random game usually when I'm tired as hell staying up too late playing. The wife is gone Friday and Saturday so I am gonna try HOF on both hitting and pitching then and will update.

Have you tried a different hitting camera? After using fish eye all last year I recently moved to retro. I've noticed a big reduction in chased balls.

Yea I have tried a few different and have settled on The Show 15 camera. Unfortunately, my problem is my impulse control. I see the pitch but I'm older, 44, and I just swing when I know I shouldn't. I don't get a ton of time to play so alot of times I'm tired when I get a chance to play. My concentration level can wane as it gets later! Haha I just have to use better impulse control I guess.

Good stuff! I put down steal success to 6 in my franchise five games ago. It's working a lot better. I actually have a chance to throw out runners now and I get thrown out as well. Worked better for me so far but we will see how your tests go!

Forgive my ignorance, but unfortunately I didn't play baseball while growing up. However, I think The Show is the most realistic sports game on the market year in and year out.

Anyway, my question is which hitting style represents how real MLB players approach each bat? Also, would you say the CPU uses a zone or directional batting approach? Thanks for any info on this.

ok I'll keep watching for that but it seems the SU guy(s) should be coded to be used that way. Otherwise, what's the point of having SU slots? The coding seems pretty good for the closer although I had seen (pre-patch) the CL occasionally pulled midway thru a save.
