I feel like I was still hitting fine even though I was swinging at every strike, but I'll work on it and see if I can get it ironed out.
Lol...one way to look at it...more of it being two different styles of hitter....

From a sabermetric perspective, free-swingers can and are (if the power is there) be just as valuable as more patient guys.

Another example...prime Adam Dunn...loads of power and walks...crap average. Still an immensely valuable player.

Now...the 'issue' in video games is that as players, we all typically have our own unique approach. That approach gets transposed over our virtual player. So, in some respects, if one has a 'swing at everything' approach, it will be superimposed over all of ones guys...even over players who are different skill-wise in real life.

What I try to do, emphasis on 'try', is mimic to a degree the approach of the guy I am hitting with. If I were using Chris Carter, I would just mash square for nearly every pitch. If I were using a slappy guy, I would be more patient and use the circle swing more. Again, I try to do this....sometimes I just get in my groove and approach every AB the same....for better or worse.

Sorry...don't know if this makes any sense...just kinda rambling...lol.

Stick with it. Injuries on 8 in games played...you will see them!!

And injuries at 5 simulating around the league....they will happen. If you want a little more you can push it up to 6 on simulation games and 9 on played games. But beware....things can get crazy.

Does pushing up and to the left/right help hit balls into the gaps?

I don't think it will necessarily help doubles into the gap and will just result in more fly balls potentially. In 24 games I've hit 33 Doubles, 3 Triples and 44 HR's so I'm still a little low on the doubles side and WAY too high on the HR side. Last game I moved my pitch control to default and hit 2 HR's, Cleveland hit 3 of their own with the wind blowing 8mph out to CF. I'm going to start lowering the wind slider and hope that helps, I don't mind the long ball but I am hitting them at nearly 2x the MLB average and like you mentioned previously it sucks all the enjoyment of hitting HR's if you're hitting them so frequently.

EDIT - Pitch Control at default didn't seem to hamper the offense, I went 8/34 (0.236) which is low obviously but it's not so low that its alarming so I'll stick with it going forward and get a bigger sample. I was happy to see the CPU finally do something as they beat the **** out of Smyly in route to an 8-6 loss for myself ending my winning streak at 8, just wish it was done with less HR's needed to get there but Cleveland did go 15/37 which was really nice to see.

Anyone know if there is a way to guess pitch for fastball down middle?

Figured you'd know so I'll ask this here.

If I have a 30-team control franchise with everything set to manual for all teams, when I go to play a game against a team will the cpu every rest players on the other team?

Well would you rather swing at a slider down and away on a 2-0 count just so you don't get the called strike or swing at a fastball down the middle on a 3-1 count cause you made the pitcher fall behind in the count and have to risk a fastball across the plate?

You definitely have to be selective at what you swing at in the strike zone just as hitters have to in real life. Dallas Kuechel will give you a pitch to swing at on every pitch. He hopes you make contact so he can get back to his seat quicker. You win by getting ahead of Kuechel and making him toss that high 80's fastball somewhere across the plate.

Since the latest patch I've dropped my power and solid hits sliders by 1 (now at 4) and in my last game I beat the Orioles 4-2 with the only home run by Seth Smith. They hit 3 doubles, 2 in the gaps and one off the right field wall and I hit 3 also. A ground rule double for Holiday and gap shots from Castro and Judge. It was nice to win a game without the benefit of any home runs. I actually had 2 sac flies from Greg Bird.
I did this because in my previous game I lost 10-9 and every run was scored via home runs, 6 for them and 4 for me.

Armor... Debating whether to do 30 team control as I feel like I may be missing out... If you are controlling all teams lineups does that mean the ai never make adjustments at all? How does this work? Does this take time? Do they not change lineup for fatigue if it is set to manual?

They'll sub guys out. It's not perfect, so you'll see catchers catching day games after night games if their fatigue isn't low enough. And when they do sub, the lineup will sometimes get totally switched around.

Does it work better than single team control?

I don't think it's any different in the way that they sub.
