I use a post season set for human pitching stamina adjustment.

Don't worry what the stamina bar says just start them and put your human starter stamina to 7 (from 6).

Let me know how it goes as far as how long they go. Also remember if you use max effort alot they tire much quicker in the game.

Can you choose what level Dymanic Diffuculty starts at? Mine always seems to start around Beginner so I crush the ball for the first couple of games.

Nope. Gotta work your way up.

You can speed up that process somewhat by maxing the DD Sensitivity slider (the first one on the list). Plus this year you can gain/lose more than one level per game, so with a few big innings you can be up to where you feel like you should be.

It should be starting on Rookie, not Beginner.

Nope, waited until my dynamic difficulty was at that level before I started with the new sliders

New player with these sliders, as I thought I'd give them a go. Been playing HOF pitching on metered, so I'm getting used to not having the meter, pitch zone, and hot/cold zones etc. Can't seem to hit any of my spots for the life of me and the cpu is hitting everything. Are you guys holding down the pitch button till it vibrates? Or are you pushing and releasing immediately? Any help is appreciated!

My problem is different I can pitch well as I did first a rats with a CP but I can't hit for the life of me, I always get fly outs double plays and ground balls directly to the shift it's like when I hit it's going to get fouled or grounded as, in the last 3 games I had at least 1 home run for a foul in every game I played, as I'm new to baseball I don't know if that is normal but the CPU always hits atletas tone homespun in a game against me and I get 3 hits max in a game, always for a single.

If you are playing on quick counts it is a well known potential bug and SDS is investigating it.

So for everyone.....I can't answer this question as it is not happening to me.

So please I beg all of you to stop asking about this on this thread.

On the second point. Stealing is no joke this year. I can tell you you must absolutely look at the player quirks and make sure you don't have a pickoff artist on the bump when you take that one extra step from the default lead. Stolen bases are earned with this slider set...and don't come easy and only true base stealers are going to have a high success rate. And even with great base stealers you must get a great jump (which sometimes does not happen) and go on the right pitch. The catcher matters to. SO many variables play into it.

As far as getting picked off. Again be careful whom you are taking that extra lead on. And if the pitcher throws over a few times with that extra lead and you are diving back in safe...fatigue from that can set in and if you keep taking the extra step you very well may be picked off.

If you feel it's too tough click down the CPU pick off slider back to default 5 from 6. Still too tough on default? Go down to 4 till it plays the way you want.

                Have fun with it!!!

Thanks for the answer. It is a quick counts glitch and it sucks. Hopefully they patch that.

I actually leave the pitch/batter feedback on. If the batter doesn't contact the ball then you'll see a message which will tell you if your pitch release was late, early, or good (if he contacts the ball the you just see hitter feedback, no pitch feedback.) I actually never noticed this before in previous MLBTS games, so maybe it's new. At any rate, I've noticed the release point, which is relative to the amount of time the button is pressed, is different for every pitcher on a team. Some guys you have to hold it; others you have to tap. Once I get an idea where "good" is for the pitcher then I barely look at the feedback anymore because I'm more focused on the visual cue which tips me off to release the button (the position of the pitcher's foot, arm, hand, etc, during his wind-up.) Keep in mind that these sliders are stat-based, so even perfect timing is going to have some variation.

Of course, I could be completely wrong with my theory about how it works. I've just noticed that when the release point is good the ball's at least in the vicinity of where I wanted it to go.

Omg I just turned a triple play. Lol. Ball bounced of the pitchers leg to third he tags the run on the way to third throws to 2nd than into first for a 1-5-4-3 triple play amazing.

Best way to get the difficulty up quickly - pick a great batting team, a bad starting pitcher, and up the sensitivity to ten. Then just bat. Fast forward after you bat a half inning every time, so you just bat again.

Also can do this on the other end with pitching - pick an ace, go against a weak lineup, and just pitch.

Doing this, usually in a game or two can get you up to all star level or so. Once you are where you want to start, turn down the sensitivity slider and go for it.

Hello Show Nation! It's Christmas in March. The Show 17 is finally here and Marino and I are back for another amazing season playing the very best console sports game on the planet! MLB The Show is taking it's game to a new next generation level with PS4 Pro and 4K support. The development team has really stepped up the gameplay to heights yet unseen for a baseball game. The all new revamped life like ball physics are truly going to be a game changer this season. Not only with hit variety be far more realistic, but tuning our sliders IMO will be even easier in regards to hit variety. Humanity AI is also another new huge upgrade. Gone are the days of lazy, no urgency throws from infielders on plus runners. Over a 1000 new fielding animations are going to make this game look even more life like than ever before. I really think all of us long time Show fans are in for a real treat this season.

So what do Marino and I look to do develop sliders? It's a simple philosophy. Create settings that will give you that "old school" feeling to the game we love so dearly. Speaking of "Old School" we have a new fun mode with "retro mode" and I will also look to tune some sliders for that mode as well later on in the process! I am also going to take a dive into RTTS this season and who knows....maybe I will come up with some special RTTS sliders as well for you hardcore RTTS players out there.

Player ratings are the primary (not only) factor in the dice roll algorithm outcome of hitting, pitching, fielding and base running. We approach the game and play it a particular way so these sliders have a type of cult following for those who have a similar approach and love for baseball. Those of us who played Stratomatic or Statis-Pro and then moved on to Hardball and World Series on the Sega Genesis, Triple Play, and Tony LaRussa, to MVP 2005 and onto The Show! We want a clean screen, a lifelike broadcast quality experience, with no visual aides, meters, or crutches for hitting. It's just you and pitcher or batter in a showdown each and every AB.

We use Classic Pitching which is an entire thread of it's own and I highly recommend reading if your trying this approach for the first time or even a savvy veteran of the art of this pitching method. This thread is highly recommended for those who want to engage in the fine art of classic pitching.

                            http://www.operationsports.com/forum...ad-2015-a.html

We use Timed/Directional hitting and we employ auto fielding with manual throwing (button and no meter). This season there is also a new catcher meter. Well with this set we do not use that feature. Again we want player ratings to be the primary driver of results on the field.

Camera's (for offense, defense and pitching) are entirely up to you but below are my personal settings of exactly how I play this game. I love a Broadcast approach and this year is no different. My batting camera this season is "Fish Eye". I transitioned to this camera very very late in the MLB 16 cycle (a month ago as a matter of fact) and I am in love with it. However for those that grew accustomed to Catcher Zoom Offset....by all means. Also this season we have a really nice looking retro fielding camera (when the ball is put in play) which I will play with and see if I will replace the broadcast camera on fielding. So stay tuned for that. For now I will put users choice in our master settings below.

The most important factor to our slider approach......

Have fun!!! This game is meant to be played and 162 games is a long season and tweaking your settings as you play a long marathon will not spoil your stat's and franchise. Plug them in and start playing. Use them as a base, and tweak from there as you "PLAY". Enjoy the game! Also please give yourself a real sample size. I believe at least 20 games must be played to really get a true baseball "feel" of how they are going. Streaks, hot and cold occur. Please allow the natural flow of that to evolve before considering making any drastic changes. And believe me, with the Show one click is a big change. The sliders for this game are the best in sports gaming in terms of working and having an effect on the outcome of the game.

Below is our slider set as well as my approach to Classic Pitching to give you that simulation feeling while you play. We hope you have a full year of enjoyment playing MLB The Show 17. I will be active here, answer questions as quickly as I can, and try to assist all of you in getting the most out of the greatest sports game on the planet.

We will have a quick manage mode/simmed game slider set so stay tuned for that as it is also in beta testing. I definitely will employ quick manage to play classic season replays as well as my new 2017 Yankees Franchise once #OSFM17 40 man rosters drop. There will be minor tweaks to the master slider set to account for injuries and pitcher stamina integrity only during quick manage or straight traditional simming. Also keep in mind if you are going to use quick manage mode and jump into games for key moments.....that's great. But stay cognizant that the in game injuries are turned to default as well as starting pitcher stamina.

The way I plan to employ "quick manage mode" is to do exactly that. I want to have a lot more control over my simmed games with the ability to step in into what I would consider "critical moments" also if you just simply sim your game that week the old fashioned way, you can select to have "Critical Moments" turned on and play them as well, without doing all the quick manage mode duties. That slider set will be the same as the quick manage mode one, in that the starting pitching slider is default as well as injury. And those are the only two things that change between the actual gameplay sliders set and the "quick manage/simmed games set

For those of you who like to do all your own fielding (assisted instead of auto fielding and manual throwing like I do in franchise) I am proud to share a great set of tweaks for those of you who do it all.

Operations Sports community member Stealyerface has been kind enough to test his slider adjustments to compliment our set for all you manual fielding folks. Check them out below and enjoy!

                            Fielding:
                            Throwing Interface* Pure Analog
                            Throwing Meter* Off
                            Throwing difficulty* Hall of Fame
                            Throwing Decision* Off
Throw Canceling* Off (Don't want to get a twitchy thumb overriding throws)
In Play View* Dynamic for me, but certainly user choice
                            Defensive Shift* Auto
                            Catch Position Indicator* On
Fielding View* Again, Dynamic is just awesome, but play how you like

Slider Tweaks (totally optional, but with manual fielding, they portray accurate results and sweat-covered controller!

                            Human Pitcher Control* 1

                            Human Pitcher Consistency* 1

Since we use CPU solid hits at 4 and power at 4 he counter balances this by making far more difficult to paint the corners with classic pitching.
However I will say if you do not use the ball marker and no vibration......you may want to stick with the OP set. But if you are feeling saucy....give these tweaks a try!

"Armor's "True Clean Screen Classic Pitching Approach"

For the ultimate in simulation and challenge here is the way I play The Show with classic pitching vs the CPU.

OK so here is the deal on turning off the R2/pitch types button showing on screen.

All you need to do is see your pitchers repertoire. Is press right on the d-pad and hit R1 and you will see in order his pitch selection (and you can access this screen to see his strike % throughout the game with his various pitches to see how he is dealing and this eliminates the crutch of the pitch confidence display explained later)

So you press d-pad left and then R1 and see this:

                            1.4FB
                            2.SL
                            3.SPL
                            4.CHG

                            That means:

                            4FB = X = 1 finger
                            SL = O = 2 fingers
                            SPL = Triangle = 3 fingers
                            CHG = Square = 4 fingers
4 Fingers and wiggle means his 5th pitch (R1)

Now you know his best to weakest.

Watch the catcher....if he has 2 fingers showing he wants you to throw a Slider. If he shows 4 fingers he wants a Change up.

I typically allow my catcher to call a lot of my pitches for a sim feel. But I will overrule him when I want (shake him off). If you want to see where he wants it pull back R2 and the location icon will flash. The catcher also will sometimes just pat his mitt and/or point inside or outside and I will just aim to that area of the zone (or out of it). Or again I will shake him off. Remember if your controller rumbles while your picking your location the marker (which you can't see) is out of the strike zone. A slight rumble is barely out of the zone..and strong rumble is way out of the zone. I do start pitches out of the zone like sliders, cutters splitters etc and they come back in based on the break and spin. It takes practice....but it is well worth the reward.

Now if your pitcher has 5 pitches 4 fingers and a wiggle will mean the pitch assigned to the R1 button.

Another cool thing is you no longer see a pitchers confidence in any particular pitch. Again simply press d-pad left and R1 once and you can see each pitch and the strike %. The more strikes you have thrown with a pitch the higher the confidence level will be in that pitch.

When you have played the game as long as I have....you know if your throwing a certain pitch for strikes a lot...they will have a lot more confidence in it. I am at a stage with this game where I don't need many visual aides. But if your not there yet turn the pitch type screen back.....play the game the way your comfortable playing it.

I will tell you though the layers of simulation by pitching this way is amazing and fun. Turning the ball marker off and no controller vibration also truly makes it challenging and realistic. Sometimes your pitches will not go where you want them.

                            Just like IRL!!!

Give this a shot. I have a feeling you will love it. It will take some getting used to...but after a dozen to a couple of dozen games you will be in the groove.

I am a big fan of the pure analog hitting, using the new flick option where analog up is noral, down then up is power, and side is contact. Can I use analog hitting with these settings and sliders and have good, competitive results?

Yes I think with Analog you will have a great time with these sliders.

I went ahead and updated the OP with some contributions from JoshC1977 on Classic Pitching techniques and theory.

I also added my 30 team control "Manifesto". I get a lot of PM's and questions on this and what I do and why and how.

So take a gander and enjoy.

The game is playing amazing, I am really having fun. I also highly reccomend if you are doing a franchise to use the brand new OSFM 1.75 from ridin and his crew or the OSFM 1.5 uploaded by

                                Title: OSFM Default Contracts
                                PSN: GD353

Both these rosters have the default contracts but the correct amount of years. After testing it is highly suggested you do not use real life contracts if you plan on playing multiple years (more than one season) in franchise.

Just the trade engine alone get's whacked out and far less activity.

I tested this myself and found with default contracts (the money not the year on the contract) the trade blocks and trade activity is excellent with my trade slider setting at 10.
