Re: Mike Lowe MLB The Show '17 Sliders

I had to put injuries down a notch or two. Had 2 pitchers get hurt in the same inning within 2 pitches

With you gone & this forum a little quiet, I've experimented with A&S's & TNK's sets. Completely respect what these slider makes bring to these boards, but I'm clearly a HOF (Legend?) zone, meter guy & in the right place. Oddly enough while using these other sets & with power raised & solid hits closer to default, the bat to ball sounds aren't as bad. Wonder if us extremely raising solid hits or lowering power influences this?

Anyway, welcome back. Once you're settled in & get a few games in, DO report back. I'm starting (and finishing) a season which what ever you throw out there next... v.14 or v.15.

Pretty sure the sound is tied into the power setting. I haven't noticed it, and it's a small sacrifice to get better, more realistic output, in my opinion, of course.

Updating the first post now to v1.15. I think you all will really like this as I compared the last two sets, the feedback from the forum post-patch (not sure it had much of an impact), and have compiled the information to find what hopefully is a very nice sweet spot.

You'll see there are two sliders I'm still debating over (Human Contact and CPU Solid Hits), so we can continue to monitor those.

Here is the breakdown that led to v1.15.

Would you turn off lightning strikes if they were in the game too?

Marlins improve to 10-10 as I work to get caught back up to real-life schedule.

              We beat the Phillies 2-1
              AI BABIP .280
              User BABIP .208
each team had 0 HR and 1 2B

We struck them out 8 times and they walked 5 times, one intentional.

We struck out just twice and had 4 walks.

Foul ball percentages were perfect on both sides.

Swing and miss percentages low for both teams, around 15%.

I was using human contact at 5 and CPU solid hits at 7.

I think I'm going to try this next game:

              human timing -1 to 2
Human solid hits +1 to 10
              CPU timing -1 to 0
Fielder reaction -1 to 4 or use power +1 to 2

Seems patch may have impacted contact success some.

As much as I like default pitch speed, upping speed might up the swing & missing...

These adjustments were almost perfect. I'm running a series with the phillies and it's definitely a tight close game!

Re: pitch speed...This is true, but offense is still low, so that's one of the last adjustments I'd like to make for now.

I jinxed AJ Ramos as we blew a 2-0 lead in the 9th after giving up leadoff back-to-back homeruns. Later that same inning, we ended up losing 3-2.

This game was v15 but using a few tweaks I listed above.

                      Marlins had 1 HR
                      Phillies had 2 HR
                      Marlins had 1 2B
                      Foul percentages were great
Swings and misses were 29% for them, and 25% for us.

The big philosophical change I'm working on now is that defenses are too quick and too reactive. Solid and good contact is not dropping for hits enough. What I want to see is less user contact overall (AI has been fine and easy to tweak), but when user contact IS made, it's more productive than it has been. This will lead to more Ks, more hits, and even more walks, technically.

Therefore, here is what I'm using in my next game. All changes are referenced from v1.15, not anything else I've listed above in this thread.

                      Human contact to 6
                      Human power +1 to 2
                      Human timing -2 to 1
Human solid hits +1 to 10
                      CPU contact +1 to 6
                      CPU timing -1 to 0
                      CPU solid hits to 7
Fielder run speed -1 to 1
                      Fielder reaction -1 to 4
                      Baserunner speed +1 to 4

After patch had to put power back to default value of 5. Otherwise it was slow hit speed city also put contact at 5 as well as solid hits. Much better hit speed. Otherwise wayyyy too many slow grounders or balls hit in outfield almost stop rolling before they get to fielder. Patch really changed hitting.

I noticed you got rid of the different values for zone and for directional...was this intentional, or just because you play on zone? I'm still on directional and am finally getting the timing down to the point where 1.14 was working great for me (still on All Star)

I'm with u on that. 1.15 is tough for zone and directional!! I'm going back to 1.14 for sure
