Yep, I just finished a game where the CPU made 3 errors, two on throws. This was in my Marlins franchise that's in 2028.

Could have been 4 errors with 3 on throws, but the Marlins scorer was feeling merciful I guess.

The guy that made the throwing errors was one of those awful prospects I mentioned in the other thread in the main forum. 67/B at 25 years old. He has a 63 arm strength, 56 arm accuracy at SS (he was playing SS in the game). He made his rookie debut in the game. Nice game, rookie.

The "merciful" non-error was from the 2B. He has 61 arm accuracy and was trying to make a difficult throw.

This was with infield throw errors at 7.

What was your arm strength at? That makes a huge difference. Other then that I'm at a loss as to why we are seeing such a drastic difference.

I have infield arm strength at 10.

I am at a loss. My only theory is that there is an inversion point in the balance between arm strength and throwing errors, but without personal playtesting or hard data I'm pretty much just theory crafting here.

I remember the words of my old Economics in Health Care professor: it's very easy to come up with a theory that sounds good. Coming up with a theory that is actually good in practice is extremely difficult.

Wise words indeed and definitely applicable to slider making.

I don't have any ideas either unless our carryovers have such difference in ratings.

Though, it's happening in the "modern" franchise (fresh 18 and a 17 carryover)...not quite as much but it's about MLB average - which still sounds like more than you would get, given your setting.

Has there been any tweaks or updates to the current set. Looking to move up from all star hitting and hall of fame pitching to all hall of fame so just wanted to know if there are any updates?

I unfortunately haven't had the chance to play for a while. I just played two games on my beta set and everything seemed fine, but those are the only two games I've played on 1.09.

The only changes being tested on the V6 beta are:

Steal Ability at 5 (Was 4)

Human and CPU starter stamina at 8 (was 7)

CPU pickoff rate at 2 (was 3)

I'm not sure but I might also be at a different pitch speed then V5, but I don't remember, and that is personal preference anyways.

Hitting is pretty much locked in and barring a major change to the hitting balance I doubt I'll be changing it.

                      Yeah looks good for V5.

Currently playtesting V6, which has human and CPU starter stamina at 8, CPU pickoff frequency at 2, and steal ability at 5. I don't have nearly enough playtesting to release, but I'd recommend it so far.

                          Update

On top of the changes already mentioned earlier in the thread, I've also started playtesting these new changes:

Fielder run speed moved from 3 to 2: Even with baserunner speed at 7, fielders were still outpacing their baserunning counterparts. At 2, they feel slower then when on the basepaths with equal speed, but that does make some sense considering the glove would throw off their gait and they also have to concentrate on fielding.

Fielder reaction moved from 3 to 4: I'm less certain about this one, but I was finding that fielders were reacting to late to often, especially ones with high reaction ratings. I have had a little to much consistency in reaction time since bumping it up, but the players in question that reacted "to" quickly both had high reaction attribute ratings. One was in the high 60s and the other in the high 70s. Will keep an eye on this one.

Pitch speeds on HoF moved down to 5: My recommended speed has once again moved down.

I will release beta sliders on the vault by request, but only the HoF hitting/Legend Pitching variant. I will not update the rest until I am locked in, it is way to much work to update all of those slider sets.

Do you have data on your fielder errors at these settings? I have been very close to these fielder error settings since the game was released, so im curious to how yours compares to mine.

What I have right now, broken across my franchises (using current fielding sliders and primary franchises - I've played more than 14 games this cycle , though these are mixed HoF/Legend but that doesn't matter for fielding - otherwise it would be like 2 games with the current Legend sliders lol - I keep them separate but combined them for this).

18 COL (fresh '18 Rockies fantasy, currently in Year 1)

14 MIA (MIA carryover started in MLB 14, non-fantasy, currently in Year 14)

IFE = IF fielding error, OFE = OF fielding error

Throwing errors have been most prevalent for whatever reason. This is with lower slider there than TheWarmWind, whose setting I based from. We're both at a loss as to why lol, but I'm guessing it's ratings differences, especially from our carryovers (we both have one from '14, I think mine is farther along).

My 14 carry over is in 2019.

Yeah, in 6 games the CPU has only made two infield throwing errors for me with my setting at 9.

One was by a fairly decent catcher trying to stop a steal of third. He rocketed the throw over the 3B head.

The second was by a poorly rated SS making a throw to first on a rush play, pulling the 1B off the bag.

Would you believe me if I told you that 2 in 6 games is a rarity? Usually it's lower.
