Reading about some of the trades you are making, free agent signings, contracts, etc. is making me nervous about these GM tasks when (or if) I get to that point. Have you, or anyone, used auto manage for the GM tasks? If so, how was it? I would really hate to ruin my franchise by screwing up these tasks.

You can let the CPU do everything.

I am selective in what I do as I love creating storylines and doing write ups about them.

When it comes to the trade deadline I have a blast. Each year I select certain teams depending on situation and players and make up some entertaining storylines. Contenders and sellers. Then I let the CPU decide in the off-season if they retain these guys or let them walk. Of course for my own team.....I make all the decisions. But I do employ the random number method to my own top 3 arbitration eligible players since we now have contract extensions.

You can do as much or as little as you want.

It is your universe.

After thinking it over and seeing how the new extensions work,

I decided to run the generator for the top three arbitration eligible players on each team in July (the only other chance other than off-season/spring training you can offer contract extensions.

1-33 comes up I will attempt to offer an extension and I will either front load, back load or spread it evenly based on the teams situation, market size etc etc.

34-100 they simply go to arbitration.


When it comes to true free agents I ha e always let the CPU do it’s thing.

I am only doing this for the top 3 players under team control (arbitration eligible).

So a quick update and I will do another formal Yankees blog on the OP, Nolan Arenado’s Yankee debut was dazzling. He jacked 2HR’s. Also Judge hit his 19th and Harper hit 2HR’s as well. But all of that was overshadowed but Fernando Tatis Jr’s too of the 9th Grand Slam off Chapman to propel the Padres to a 9-7 win at Yankee Stadium to even up the 3 game series and deny the Yankees their 7th straight win!

Insane game.

But the Yankees lineup now is just nasty:

Judge - RF
Harper - LF
Arenado - 3B
Andujar - DH
Bird - 1B
Sanchez - C
Hicks - CF
Nunez - 2B

Bench

Frazier - OF
Gardner - OF

IL - Jarrod Dyson


I am going to have to make a decision once Dyson comes off the IL. He was hitting over .300 and is a speed demon. He is in the last year of his contract and I will not resign him as he will turn 35 for the 2020 season. Gardner is basically a pure bench player and veteran presence. The pickle we are in is Clint Frazier has really developed nicely for me. He is nit going back down. He my clear cut 4th OF and allows me flexibility to rest all of my OF’s more often to prevent injuries.

I carry 12 pitchers.

I need a utility guy and that is Refsnyders role now. He fills it well. I may pursue Brock Holt in the off-season after letting Josh Harrison walk in free agency after our World Series win. He wanted a big contract and the Tigers gave him what he wanted.

So we will have to figure out what we want to do. My big pickle on top of the other pickle is not only do I need to carry 12 pitchers, I just don’t have the heart to move Gardy. He is a Yankee lifer.

Dyson is the odd man out. I love his speed, but he is essentially the 5th OF now with the emergence of Clint Frazier. I have Japanese import Walter Ryu (I drafted him in year 1) waiting to take Gardy’s spot as my 5th OF (or 4th if Aaron Hicks does not resign and Frazier takes over CF in 2020).

So Dyson will be moat likely moved for whatever I can get. I will look for another utility guy or low level utility prospect. He does have value as a left handed speed guy.

We shall see what happens. He has 3-4 weeks before he comes off the IL.

So post patch 1.10 we moved human solid hits to 4.

I am now moving human power down to default 5.

I am keeping human timing for me personally at 6 because I am an old man.

I will update the OP today:

Human hitting for me is now

Contact - 5
Power - 5
Timing - 6
Solid hits - 4
Foul Frequency - 4

I think this is a fair compromise. I’m going to go with this as well, as I was hitting too many homers and solid hits. And the fact that I am much older!! And if I find my offence is still a little too much, I can now simply lower timing back to default. Thanks

I'm liking that. I'm still leaving timing at 5. Personal preference, never been a fan of messing with that slider.

What has changed? Human hitting. Funny we are back to where we should be now that the last two patches have cleaned up some things.


Human Timing back to default 5 (yep....feels right at default now for me. Strange but true and I think that has a lot to do with me finally adjusting to the new feel of HOF on 19)

Human Solid hits to 4 - hit variety is off the hook and this is the sweet spot


Human Power to default 5 - Power is good at default, at 6 it became OP post patch 1.10

I’ll have to plug in n the adjustments this evening and see how it goes...
12 games into my braves franchise and I’m leading in homeruns and runs
The A’s are right behind me in runs scored but the next closest in homeruns is 6 back
The top of my lineup is on fire though.

I was just going to post that I had to drop human timing back to 5! Every time I got a hit when it was at 6 I felt like I was cheating in some way. With it at 5 I really have to focus, work the count, try to anticipate what the pitcher is going to throw - just like real baseball. And yes, I’m starting my franchise over for the LAST ##%%%** time!!!

Lol. Oh man, you don’t the troubles I’ve seen! I’m actually embarrassed as to how many times I start over and going through all the teams rosters, setting their 25-man rosters, lineups, rotations over and over and over again. I can honestly say that I’ve had this game for almost 2 months and I have yet to play the Yankees 2nd series of the year. But things will be different - this time!! Good luck to you as well
